Chapter 39: Chapter 39

Smiling Kendall leaned over Grayson as the man quietly read under his favorite tree on campus. He handed it mineral water.

"Water."

Grayson rolled his eyes at the sight of the book. He looked at the girl who suddenly stepped beside him. Its face is clear. Smiling even the eyes. She stared at his lips and the kiss he made to her accidentally entered her brain. The irregularity of the throbbing of his chest resurfaced. Even before his cheeks blushed, he immediately grabbed the water it offered and drank straight away.

He turned his eyes to the reading. After a while, he felt that the girl was too close to him. Their arms are already touching. He couldn't understand but there seemed to be electricity slowly flowing through his whole body.

"You're sitting too close to me."

He stumbled away a bit but the woman deliberately stuck to him. He stumbled away again but the obviously teasing companion stumbled again.

"Are you teasing me? Can't you see I'm studying ?!" He raised his voice but he immediately fell silent as it stared at him. He swallowed and quickly pretended to return his attention to the book. For a few moments he did not stop turning the pages.

"Stop flirting. Cady might see you. She won't tolerate this. My girlfriend is jealous," he commented impatiently.

Kendall smiled. Look at this seriously and meaningfully to Grayson. "Don't worry. When did the borrower learn to be angry with the owner?"

"What do you mean by that?" wrinkled when the man asked.

A joking reaction replaced the girl's serious look. "I didn't say Cady wouldn't be angry because she knew I was just kidding!"

There was a car park near the two. Cady came down here. When Grayson saw his girlfriend, he quickly stumbled away from the next one.

Kendall stood up. His proxy has arrived. He knew it would take his place. When their eyes met Cady secretly looked at him wickedly. He would have retaliated against the woman's evil looks but suddenly turned his attention to the waving Noah. It was leaning against the door of Cady's recovered car. Perk his feeling seeing the colleague. Glad he came here.

Grayson's eyes couldn't escape the hidden excitement and joy on Kendall's face when he saw Noah.

"How is your brother related to my bodyguard?" astonished he asked his girlfriend.

Cady thought for a moment. She felt jealous because even though her boyfriend hadn't greeted her yet, she was able to ask about Kendall.

"She is his ex-girlfriend."

Grayson was stunned by the answer and seemed to have a pinch in his chest at the discovery. "H-How did they know each other?"

"They worked together. They have the same job."

"You're brother is a policeman too ?!" the man's eyes were chubby.

"Yeah. You knew it already."

"II don't remember ..."

"Maybe because of your lost memories ... But you knew it and we fought about it already."

"We did? What happened?"

"You broke up with me."

"I broke up with you ?! Then how come we're still together now?" Grayson asked incredulously.

Cady looked at the girl talking to the sister. He remembered the day the woman greeted them.

"You realized your mistake. You were very angry with me and you accused me for being a liar but in the end you accepted my reasons for not telling me right away about my brother's work. You asked for my forgiveness thru a dinner date and I forgave you. "

"Is that what happened? I can't believe I was able to get mad at you so much and divorce you only because of that," Grayson laughed.

"Yeah you did. You were in too much pain that time. But let's not talk about it anymore. That was over and I'm actually glad that was one of the things you forgot."

"I don't understand. I thought I remember all the moments with you."

Cady grinned. "Maybe because it involves some people you should forget."

"Like who?"

"I don't know," was the woman's short and steady answer.

Grayson turned to Noah and Kendall again. "You said Kendall is his ex-girlfriend. How come they still look happy talking to each other?"

"I'm not sure maybe they are starting to see each other again," Cady casually replied without even noticing her lying.

Grayson never asked again. He didn't talk to his girlfriend much but from time to time he secretly glanced at the two talking policemen.

-------

"How are you?" Noah asked seriously to Kendall who was then staring at Cady and Grayson. They were both leaning against the car and rubbing their pants.

"It's okay. It's like I'm just starting to watch an antipathetic Grayson Hoffman again," the woman replied jokingly.

"What I mean is ... this whole situation. Are you sure you accept everything?" Noah clarified.

Kendall looked at the speaker confused. "Inspector what do you mean?"

"I know everything. Upon interrogation, that pusher confessed to me the whole story about that night ..." The young man sighed and smiled sparingly. "I guess that kid really likes you a lot to sacrifice even his own life. I can't blame him because you're really a very likable woman."

Kendall changed the course of the colleague's conversation with him. It’s serious and has a tone of sentimentality.

"How about you? He touched your heart too, didn't he?" ungkat pa nito.

He was speechless instead he simply bent down to avoid the eyes of the speaker his embarrassed reaction. He is tempted to admit here what he really feels but otherwise he is disgusted. By any chance, this is the first time they will talk about something personal and sensitive.

"Aren't you hurt by what you see now?" the young man asked further.

Gradually he was carried away by the tone of the colleague’s conversation. He felt it was by his side now as a friend as well.

"I-It's hard ... but it all doesn't matter compared to what he did for me," he said hesitantly.

"Do you think you made the right decision not to introduce what you are to his life? My sister loves him so much and I know she will do everything to win him."

Kendall nodded. "I know. But I don't want to confuse Grayson anymore. Even if I force myself to remember him, it still won't dictate how he really feels. His heart and mind are one now and all of that is reserved for Cady. I don't want to ruin the pity Grayson feels right now. "

"Do you feel deeply for Grayson?" Noah asked.

Kendall was silent again. He hesitated for a moment to answer but felt ready to listen to whatever he had to say. During these times he needed to breathe all the suppressed emotions. He was about to open his mouth but Grayson suddenly called out to him.

"Kendall LET'S GO TO MY NEXT CLASS NOW!"

"All right inspector, let's talk again next time. Let me visit you at the headquarters once when I have time," he said with a wistful smile.

He stepped back to Grayson but Noah suddenly grabbed his hand.

"Kendall-"

She was startled and turned to the man. Astonished he looked at its tight grip on his hand and shrugged when he looked at its serious face.

"I like you-"

He was suddenly confused. He heard what the colleague said but he did not clearly understand it.

"I like you Kendall ... a lot."

Gradually, the meaning of the man staring at her seriously entered her brain. He laughed softly. "Inspector, I'm not porky and I'm a little lethargic now. You need to make me laugh," he said once he removed it from holding it in his hand.

Noah took his withdrawn palms again and it became even more serious to stare at him.

"I'm not joking Kendall."

He was silent when he realized that the person he was talking to was not joking. He stared until his throat seemed to be slowly drying up. She suddenly felt awkwardness from the young man's stares. Her eyes rolled as she swallowed several times. He was looking for something to say.

"Kendall! I'M GOING TO BE LATE !!!"

Grayson couldn't stop himself from approaching the woman he had called earlier. Her throat was already sore from the scream while the woman was holding hands and just staring at the person she was talking to. He looked closely at Noah, he had no reason why but he could feel how heavy he was about it.

"Kendall!" he called without taking his eyes off the man.

The two turned to him. Noah also returned his stares. His gaze deepened on it. For a few moments their eyes spoke quietly. He frowned because he pretended to be looking calmly but he felt that it made him look more masculine than him.

He approached Kendall and pulled one of his hands away.

"I SAID LET'S GO!"

Noah didn't let go of one of Kendall's hands. He tightened his grip on it and pulled the girl closer to him.

Grayson got even angrier.

"Release her! She's my bodyguard and we have to go now!"

"She's my friend and I'm talking to her right now," Noah replied loudly.

"Grayson don't talk to my brother that way," Cady replied but it wasn't listened to either.

The two men pulled on both of Kendall's hands while seriously exchanging sharp stares.

It was only then that Kendall woke up from Noah's unexpected confession. "WAIT! WAIT! I'm already in pain!" awat niya.

He angrily removed the men's grip on both of his hands. The two were shocked to see his angry face. He looked boldly at Grayson. She sighed and shaking disgusted she faced Noah.

"Inspector Green, let's talk again later."

------

On the way home, Grayson teased Kendall about Noah.

"How can you kiss another guy when you're already seeing someone ?! Is that how you flirt ?!" Grayson's irritable language.

"What did you say?" confused question of the driving maid.

"He's you're ex-boyfriend or shall I say still a boyfriend, isn't he?"

"Where did you get that idea?" laughed the woman.

"Cady told me," Grayson replied directly as his eyebrows still met.

Kendall was temporarily silent. He couldn't believe that Cady was already making up her own story. He would have liked to refute it but he thought Grayson might just be confused when he said the woman was lying.

"You believe it," he said with a smile.

"Why can't I believe? Is there any reason for Cady to lie about it?"

"W-Nothing." He was swallowed once the height of one of his eyebrows. "Why are you angry? What if by any chance my boyfriend is inspec -... Noah?"

"I can't explain but I think it annoys me because he's taking some of your time. You should not talk to him while you're on duty. I hate that guy!"

Kendall braked at the last thing Grayson said. This is the line it often releases when jealous of Noah. He suddenly parked the car and rolled his eyes at the man.

"Why are you mad at him?"

"I don't know. I just feel that I don't like that man."

"N-Are you jealous Grayson?"

The man was suddenly stunned by the question until he slowly laughed. "Jealousy? Why should I be jealous of that man ?! Are you saying I like you?"

Kendall nodded repeatedly.

"Wow are you such a thick-skinned woman?" Grayson asked incredulously after seeing how easy it was for the interlocutor to admit.

Kendall touched the man's chest. "Don't you feel weird there?" he asked excitedly.

Grayson softened as the woman's palm touched his chest. She was startled when she felt her heart beat faster. He immediately removed the girl's hand from his chest before he could even see her.

"W-Why would I feel something for you? For god sake Kendall, I have a girlfriend and I love her! Hindi porke't mabigat ang loob ko kay Noah doesn't mean that it's because of you. Maybe I encountered problems with him before that I don't remember. I just discovered today that I have memories with him that I couldn't recall! " pretending to be his irritable explanation.

"Memories, what memories?" Kendall asked worriedly.

"Like him being a policeman. Cady told me that I knew about it already."

"What else did you find out? Did Cady tell you anything else?"

"Nothing. But she mentioned that maybe I forgot some people and events related to his brother that's why I forgot about his job."

Kendall started the car again. He never spoke again. He was disappointed that Grayson didn't feel jealous for the colleague. Even though he tolerates his own feelings he still secretly hopes that hopefully there is still room left for him in Grayson’s heart. She knows that sometimes the heart beats the mind so if the man ever falls in love with her again despite the erased memories, she might fight her feelings. But this time, he sees how much Grayson loves Cady so much that even a little bit he knows he has no hope.

-------

Kendall was resting in the room. He was lying on the bed with his hand on his forehead and thinking about what Noah had said. He still didn’t know what the reaction would be. It was still hard for him to believe, not once did he see any sign or hint that it liked him. I hope she can still think that the young man is just joking with her.

Tok.Tok. Tok.

He opened the door and a sleeper opened up to him.

"You have a visitor," he said.

She put on a sweater over her pajamas and was startled to get off. Visitors? Who will look for him at this time? When he came to the living room he was surprised to see waiting for him. Noah. She was carrying flowers and she immediately smiled seeing him.

"A-what are you doing here inspector?"

It first gave him the carry -on flowers. "Kendall is going wild on you," he said, not knowing if it was serious or a joke.

She was stunned by what she heard as her cheeks blushed as she accepted the flower. He looked around worried that someone might see them. He laid the flowers on the center table and pulled the young man out of the garden. "Until now are you still joking Inspector Green?" he said stunned after leaving the house.

"I told you I'm not joking. I came here to talk to you about what I said this afternoon" Noah replied seriously.

Kendall rubbed the young man's forehead and neck. "Do you have a fever? Are you sick? What's wrong with you and all of a sudden you're like this?"

Noah let out a deep sigh. "It's not all of a sudden Kendall. I've liked you since the day I first met you. To be honest you are the reason why I moved to your department. I want to be with you Kendall."

The girl stared again. "B-Why are you telling me such things now Inspector Green? I thought we were friends? I thought we were partners?"

The young man stared at Kendall's still unbelievable look. "I was looking for the right time to confess everything to you. I know today is the worst timing to confess ... but I don't want to catch everyone. I know I'm a little late because someone is ahead of me but I'm still hoping I'm not too late yet. Am I Kendall? "

"Noah-"

"Grayson maybe owns your heart now but it doesn't mean that I don't have a chance. If that kid could be able to move your heart, I think I can do that too Kendall."

Kendall swallowed. He was thinking of the correct answer. She doesn’t have any feelings for Noah but she still thinks of him as a friend and good colleague. He didn't want to hurt her with what he had to say.

"J-Noah ... I'm sorry but I think you'd better just stop this. You're going to have a hard time. You're my friend so I don't want to see you get hurt or have a hard time because of me."

"I'm not in a hurry Kendall. I'm willing to wait for my turn. I'm not going to ask anything from you right now except to ask you to give me a chance to make you feel my love."

"Noah I don't want to expect you ... I can't give you anything but friendship. Just stop all this ... G-I want to go to sleep if you have nothing else to say you can leave," the girl replied. to hide the urge to get away with annoying conversation.

Kendall turned to enter the house but Noah grabbed his arm and he faced the man with a pleading face again.

"I won't stop Kendall. I will accept all your rejections now but it won't make me stop in showing how I really care for you ... I'll prove to you that I am the better man and I will do everything with sincerity just to win your heart Kendall. "

"I-I know you're a good man Noah. So don't expect us ... don't hurt us."

"Please give me a chance to love you Kendall ..."

Kendall felt pity for the pleading young man. He did not expect the brave and courageous companion to be willing to show such weakness in front of him. "Hi-I won't stop you Noah but right now I'm just saying that all your tiredness will be wasted soon ..."

The man's face lit up. "What you just said is enough Kendall. I'm not asking for more ... you just agreed to woo me I'm happy."

Kendall nodded awkwardly and smiled wryly. "I-If you don't say anything, I'll be back inside inspector ... I want to rest. Rest well, I know you're tired from work too," he hurriedly avoided.

"Yes I will leave now. Sorry for taking some of your time. Take a rest and goodnight," the young man smiled goodbye.

"G-goodnight be careful coming home too."

Kendall entered the house with a confused face. The shock in his chest still lingered. She paused for a moment and seemed to be slowly regretting allowing Noah to flirt with her. He repeatedly punched himself. While thinking deeply, he was suddenly startled to feel that there were eyes looking at him badly.

"B-Grayson?" The man was standing next to the door. She folded her arms and stared at him seriously. "A-what are you doing there?"

"Why? Can't I roam in my own house?" its sarcastic tone.

She was unable to look directly at the man. He feels he has done something wrong with it. He averted its critical eyes and stooped to enter the house. He heard the footsteps of those following him. He quickened his pace but when he came to the living room he looked at the flowers. He didn't want to be rude to his colleague so even though he was hesitant he was forced to take it to his room.

"What was he doing here?" asked the tailed man.

"M-We just talked about work."

"Does giving flowers include your work?"

"He just apologized for what happened earlier."

Grayson quickened his pace until he reached the girl. He held it in his arm and presented it to her. "You knew that I don't like him! Why are you inviting that man in my house? This is my house Kendall and you should ask permission first who are you going to send here!"

"I-I'm not sending him. He's the one who came to visit."

"Why does he have to visit you? You just denied earlier that you had a relationship with that man. Are you lying?"

Kendall looked seriously at the angry person. "Grayson ... Noah is flirting with me," he admitted spontaneously.

Grayson was silent at what he heard. It is temporarily silent.

"O-is it okay for him to flirt with me?" the girl asked while looking into the eyes of the silent speaker. "Is it okay for you Grayson to date Noah?" its again.

"W-why are you asking me that?" Grayson suddenly sighed.

"You said I don't have to say goodbye to you first if someone comes to visit me. So I'm asking you now if you'll be willing to let Noah date me."

"D-Does it matter if I agree or not?"

"Just tell me if you don't want Grayson. I'll take back what I told Noah that I agreed to court him."

Grayson swallowed and thought for a moment. She looked at the flowers. He loves to answer the girl that he objects. The resistance he feels is deep in his bones. But he could not explain to the speaker why this was his answer.

"W-why would I disagree? All I'm saying is I don't want to see him in my house as much as possible. It's your personal life so why would I interfere in his courtship with you?" his defense.

"Don't you feel the slightest bit of resistance, Grayson?"

"N-None," Grayson refused without looking directly.

Kendall rolled his eyes at the stare of the speaker. He walked languidly back to the room. In Grayson's current situation. What about a man if someone flirts with someone else?

He turned to Grayson again.

He misses the jealous Grayson. He misses the irritated and blushing face when talking about Noah. He misses the ways he thinks of doing just to avoid Noah. I hope it's still the same reason why he's still angry now when it comes to the young policeman ... if only.
