Chapter 92: Chapter 92
Chapter 92
Xavier's Pov
"I'm not going anywhere; the food is already here," Amara explained.
Sansa had never been so weak and scared before me, and I tried to scare her just to keep her close by using any trick I could think of.
I expected her to be by my side in fear and to save her lover, Logan, but I scared her so much that she couldn't even look me in the eyes.
Sansa was already insecure, and she didn't want to be alone in the room with me. Amara walked away to get the food, while Sansa ignored me as if I didn't exist.
I didn't want Amara to question us. I leaned in closer to her ear to keep her aware of her unusual behavior. "Behave!"
She was unable to control herself for even a moment while being with me; as she moved to get off the bed, I pulled her back to her position.
As Amara turned, I touched Sansa's beautiful face by moving her hair away from her face "Look at your face, how weak you've become."
When Sansa was sacrificing herself for Logan, I hated her so much that I wanted to make her mine as soon as possible so that I could keep her close for the rest of my life.
She kept her mouth, enduring every brutal and merciless act I committed. I despised the fact that she was so devoted to him.
I desired her more than anything else in the world; it wasn't just a crush but an obsession; I wanted Sansa to love me more than she loved Logan.
I wanted to make her forget about her lover as if she'd never been in love before.
Sansa was enduring every situation, and her pain was in my favor because she was there with me, but I couldn't convince myself for a long time that keeping her close was not enough for the deep connection I desired.
Amara arrived bearing two plates.
"I told you I wasn't hungry." Sansa obstinately refused to eat, not even extending her hand to hold the plate.
I had no choice but to take Amara's plate. "She wouldn't eat if I didn't feed her."
"How long do you want me to be your shadow? Who will look after me if you don't look after yourself?" I had to show Amara our wonderful relationship when she began to doubt it due to Sansa's strange behavior.
When Sansa did not eat from my hand after I extended a spoonful of custard, I did not withdraw my hand.
"If you don't eat, you won't be able to face the monsters with the same bravery you did," I said this after she gave me her undivided attention by staring into my eyes for a few moments.
She ate and didn't fight back. She appeared depressed.
"Lady Sansa, please get well soon. I admire how you fought the creatures and saved us. Thank you," Amara said softly.
"As a result, I was punished." Sansa mocked me for the decision I made in the previous trial.
"We can't do anything of our own volition, but only by the law. However, I admire your bravery," Amara spoke softly.
"How come you're not eating?"
Amara inquired me
"I have a responsibility to fulfill. After she eats, I will eat," I said
"You also need to take care of yourself; you've been badly injured, and we need our alpha back soon," Amara said to me.
"I'll be fine, but she needs to be saved first," I said softly.
"You know, we were all wondering how and when he would marry when he had never had any women in his life. We had no idea he had you, and we are glad that you are part of the Oak pack," Amara smiled as she spoke to Sansa.
Sansa made no effort to react when she was simply staring at her with no expression.
"Xavier hasn't eaten anything because he was waiting for you to wake up so he could eat with you," Amara said
"How romantic!" Sansa teased me once more with her sweet voice.
"Kris said to avoid spicy food, so I made my special dish, banana custard, for you," Amara explained cheerfully.
I took another spoon and extended it after noticing Sansa froze for a moment.
She finished the entire plate and stated, "I want more; I am hungry."
"You must like it a lot," Amara said as she handed me another plate to feed her, but Sansa took the plate from my grasp.
I was attempting to observe her as she began to eat more quickly after having previously refused twice. She was the most unpredictable woman I'd ever met.
"Next time, I'll make more custard for you," Amara said to Sansa while she was eating, and we all vanished for Sansa.
I took her right hand in mine. "Would you mind sharing with me?"
What was so special about that custard that she couldn't stop eating it?
I took Sansa's plate and started eating. "That's delectable," I remarked. Amara
I grabbed her hand as she moved to study her next move, which was unpredictable.
"What are your plans? You should get some rest," I said cheerfully when I realized she was up to something.
"I am not sleepy at all," Sansa declared solemnly.
When she shifted her gaze over the table where the custard bowl was, the only way to keep her from fleeing was to wrap a blanket around her.
"The more you sleep, the faster you will heal," I said, clutching her wrist.
Amara returned to her chair, carrying a bowl of banana custard.
"She'll sleep later, so let her enjoy my delicious pudding," Amara smiled.
Sansa leaped to get a bowl from Amara as if she were looking for water in the desert. She seemed to be dying to get that.
She was eager, as the only thing she might need if she didn't get Logan was death, as she had already stated that she would rather die than choose me. She chose to die.
"Check Levine out for me," I told Amara.
"Sure, I will," Amara said.
"I can't afford to lose him," I said sadly.
"He is strong; he'll be fine," Amara assured me.
Amara stood up to leave just as Sansa was about to eat the custard. She set the bowl on a side table. "Don't leave me alone."
"I'll take care of her; you can leave and get some rest as well; you've been working a lot, and thanks for the custard." When I suspected Sansa of causing trouble, I told Amara to send her away as soon as possible.
"No, I'd like you to stay, please," Sansa begged.
Amara was watching Sansa's strange behavior.
"She needs more rest; you can go; I'll call you when she's awake," I said softly to Amara.
Sansa held Amara's hand. "I will be back; get some sleep," Amara said softly as she placed her warm hand on her hand.
As Amara walked away, I grabbed the custard bowl from the table and closed the door behind her.
I approached Sansa, who was staring at me with hateful eyes. She turned away as I extended a spoon of custard.
"If you want to eat, I won't stop you," I said.
She reached out without hesitation to take the bowl from me as if it were gold. While avoiding direct eye contact. I didn't let go of the bowl as she looked up at me.
The bowl was worth more than I was. I threw the bowl away in rage when she covered her ears. I leaned in closer to her face when she looked up at me with teary eyes.
"You're out of time; don't be eager to bury yourself in the grave you just dug; give yourself time." I kept my anger inside, and I slammed the door in frustration.
When I'd had enough of her, I slammed the door again and went outside. No matter how hard I tried to deny it, facing her was hurting me deep down.
Why were things so complicated?
Nothing felt right; my heart was racing, and my mind was obsessing over trivial matters.
When I won the biggest battle, I was unable to control the smallest matters. But why didn't I see any hope in our relationship? Where was it going? I couldn't tell which way was up.
Why did I bother when Sansa was upset? That didn't matter, but the law did. It was not wrong for me to claim her as my bride; it was my right to do so. I was just doing everything by Oak Pack law.
They say that by the time everything is fine, the river will be calm, the storms will have passed, the sun will rise again, and the moon will illuminate the darkness.
Why wasn't anything going my way? The one for whom I had waited so long said she had chosen death over me, and it was painful; her words broke me deep inside.
