Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Sansa's Pov

The birds were singing, and the sun kissed my face as the curtains flew in the breeze. The cold couldn't touch me because I was lying under a warm blanket and wearing comfortable pajamas and a green shirt.

When I opened my eyes, I noticed Xavier was dressed in a camel wool peacoat, black pants, and a shirt. He was sitting in the chair, his crystal-shiny eyes fixed on me.

I was curious about how long he had been staring at me, which creeped me out. I sat against the bed, covering myself with the blanket.

I inquired. "What are you doing here?."

"Where else do I go?" It's my room," he stated. "I expected you to be awake all night thinking about the man you love, but look at you, you're sleeping soundly. What was his name?"

I was irritated. "Logan! What did you do to him?"

"He is still alive," said Xavier.

"I don't believe you."

"Only trust can make things work between us; if you don't trust me, you'll think Logan is already dead, and you'll make mistakes that I will not tolerate, and Logan will die because of you," calm Xavier was threatening me.

I was angry. "Don't even think about it."

"That's correct! Now you believe me, I did not kill him; you will be the one to decide when he will die, and one more thing, forget him; remembering him would be the strongest reason for me to kill him," Xavier stated.

I was irritated. "How could you say that so casually? We were about to marry; he is my family; I love Logan, he is impossible to forget."

Xavier slowly approached the bed and sat next to me, but I pushed myself away from him.

"You're new here, so I'm giving you a chance to improve, and the last thing is that stop calling his name in front of me," said Xavier.

I inquired. "For how long do we have to pretend?"

"If you don't want to pretend, let's get married," he suggested.

"You think life is a joke; how could you possibly do everything in your opinion?"

"How much do you know about me?" he inquired.

I raged, "You don't care about anyone; you're selfish."

"Isn't it too soon to pass judgment on someone?" he inquired, In a calm tone.

"I'm not judging; I'm telling you from experience that you're selfish; I'm not sure what kind of bond we share, but I don't care; I'm not going to accept that until I'm dead."

He leaned closer to my face, watching with his deep, crystal-clear eyes. I was nervous but pretending to be brave, looking into his eyes to show him that just because he was an alpha did not mean he could do whatever he wanted.

"Even if you had married your lover, you belong here regardless of who you are married to."

I wanted to say more to his face, to show how much I despise him, and to exact my revenge for ruining my dreams, but I held myself back for a better opportunity to flee.

"Get ready; we're going hunting, and they're all waiting for you at breakfast," he said solemnly before leaving the room.

I went to the closet, where beautiful and expensive dresses hung. In my entire life, I had no choice but to choose one thing, but I chose the best dress to wear whenever I wanted. I wished for that kind of freedom in life because I never had it.

I never wanted to go with that man, but it was the only way out of the mansion, so I took advantage of the opportunity to go hunting, which I had never done before.

Amara approached me as I walked downstairs, watching them all have a good time at the large dining table.

"Good morning," said Amara

"Good morning," I replied

I noticed an empty seat next to Xavier and had no choice but to sit next to him when they all offered me that specific seat.

Everyone was friendly, with many new faces, and the energy was palpable. Every type of food was available. Some were serving juice, and Amara placed the steak on my plate.

"Try it; I cooked it," suggested Amara.

I bit into a tender steak and declared, "It's delicious."

"Thank you," with a smile Amara said.

"How did you spend your night?" with a smile on her face, Ruth inquired.

Most of them turned to face me, curious about the details of my night with my husband rather than my health. Some of them were laughing and blushing as they imagined what might happen on the wedding's first night.

"What exactly do you mean?" Ruth was teased by Edward.

Ruth changed the subject to a normal conversation once she realized that everyone was aware of her desire to learn more about us and the previous night. "I mean, did she get enough sleep? This place is new to her."

I noticed Bella sitting alone in the corner, away from everyone, eating only bread. She was different; she told the truth; or was the poison she spat a warning of impending disaster or entertainment for her to watch me terrified?

When I took my first step inside the mansion, they welcomed me as if I were a member of their family. I never had any friends or people who treated me like family, and I never blended in with humans, possibly because I didn't have any or because I was too shy to become attached to them.

"What brought you two together? Please tell us about your love story," with a smile Ruth Lane inquired.

"A love story?" I looked at Xavier, who was drinking apple juice.

"As Xavier mentioned, you both have a unique love story," explained Amara.

"Stop making her uncomfortable," said Edward to both of them.

Ruth explained. "After all, he is an Alpha, the most desired bachelor, but he chose you, Sansa, There must be something in you that he married to you."

"Why don't you ask him?" I suggested and try to avoid the conversation because I didn't know how to lie to them.

"Xavier, What did you find appealing about her?" inquired Ruth.

Xavier was staring at me with his intoxicating eyes, and the way he looked at me took my breath away. There was more; I hadn't seen his true colors, and he was hiding many things behind his calmness, as I strongly felt.

"Her conception of misjudging, her obstinacy, her threatening eyes, her rebellious nature, she is the dangerous one, that's why she's mine," Xavier explained.

The more I watched him, the more I fell into the trap. He was difficult to study.

They were all teasing with a smile. "OOOooOoo"

"With such a powerful confession, couldn't you find some gentle words?" Ruth teased Xavier.

"You requested my preference," Xavier explained.

I was controlling my rage while wearing a fake smile, and their voices faded to my ears when I was deep in thought. They were unaware that their Alpha was playing a game with them. Kidnapping a bride from her wedding was not an acceptable way for anyone, to conceal the fact that he was lying to them.

Amara asked, "What do you like about him, Sansa?"

That was my chance to tell everyone the truth: Xavier was impersonating my husband, and by revealing the truth, I might be able to leave and return to my old life, to Logan. I mustered the courage to confront them with the truth.

"We're not married," I explained.

They were all completely focused on me.

"I don't know him; he crashed into my wedding; I love another man; he dragged me here, holding me hostage; we've never met before; we're strangers. Everything he said to you was a lie."

I told them all in one breath, not pausing for a second, and I felt better; they were all looking at me, processing the reality I just told them; they might change their perspective on their alpha when he took advantage of his position.

The Alpha, whom they most trusted, would have lost their trust in him after discovering that he had been lying to them, and he would have lost his respect among them. I expected it.

Xavier began to laugh aloud; he appeared to be the devil. I was terrified, but I was not alone with him inside the room; he could not harm me. I was safe around them all because he pretended to be a nice guy, creating our fairytale love story in front of them.

My heart was racing like it was about to explode when they all started laughing with Xavier, so I took a sip of water, still thirsty. When I realized I was in a danger zone, I tried hard not to appear nervous.

Were all of them Alpha puppets? Were they as evil as their alpha?

I was in the crowd but felt isolated and trapped.

I made a mistake in expecting all of them to reveal the truth sooner. Who'd have guessed they were one, just like their Alpha?

I had no idea what they were going to do to me, but I knew I wasn't safe, and I dug my own grave.
