Chapter 28: Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Xavier's Pov

I turned my gaze to Max, who was attempting to kill Falkor with his sharp nails, the hunger for his blood visible in his eyes. Max's eyes were wide open, as he had not expected me to betray him. In pain, he shivered.

I threw Falkor to the floor, where he was coughing and gasping for air. It was as if a dead person had been resurrected.

I drew my sword from Max and stabbed him again with full force.

Max was quietly punching my shoulder with powerless punches as he was losing his life.

"I don't leave my enemies alive; you were planning to kill me, I saw in your eyes," I whispered into Max's ear before pushing him away.

Max collapsed helplessly on the ground, shivering in agony. Max was the first person I killed with the sword, and he was the one who gave me the sword.

"I don't like the idea of embezzling bail," I explained to Falkor.

Falkor pushed himself away slightly as I approached him.

"Look at me," I said quietly.

Falkor was out of breath, and his eyes were unsettling as he looked up at me but couldn't make eye contact.

"Aren't you glad I saved your life from the bloodsucker who desired your delectable blood? I should have killed him after his meal, but what if you had shared some of your blood with him? He wouldn't have died thirsty, and sharing is caring." I stated that I was friendly.

"Th---Thank you," Falkor said, his voice broken; he was unaware of my nature before threatening me.

"So, which one do you agree to do for me?"

"I will keep her safe; we live in the same house; you are welcome to visit whenever you want." His trembling voice assured me of her safety.

"Good," I said as I returned my gaze to Max, who was shivering in pain on the floor.

The last one to witness Falkor and my conversation, I saw Max's yellow eyes pleading for mercy, but when it came to my pack, I didn't believe in mercy.

I had no regrets about killing Max; he wasn't helping to improve relations between the Oak pack and the Demonix clan, but he was good at making things worse and causing misunderstandings.

I noticed several times but held myself back to get the best time for the lessons I wanted to teach since the first time I met him.

I grabbed Max's hair and threw the head away after cutting it off his body to keep him from opening his filthy mouth, which could have caused many wars simply because of his hatred.

My gaze followed his head as it moved like a football and came to a halt near bare feet. My attention was drawn to Albert, who was standing on the front porch wearing the brown coat of one of the hunters.

His expression indicated that he witnessed my murder of Max and was aware of the bride Falkor was referring to. Max's head was near Albert's bare feet.

"What have you done, Xavier?" Albert took a step back, upset.

I drew my sword from Max's dead body. Albert observed blood drops falling from a sword.

"You murdered their man while we were supposed to murder fu***** hunters." Albert was looking at me in disbelief for answers.

"Don't be concerned," I said.

"We agreed to collaborate; you are the one who will start a war!"

"Don't tell anyone; if you keep your mouth shut, the war will come to a halt."

"This is not acceptable; what if the vampires kill our man and tell us to forget about it? Will you let them go? Will you keep your mouth shut?" Albert appeared to be in a state of panic.

"They murdered our members a long time ago; just think that I have exacted my vengeance on Max, who sacrificed himself by volunteering; just think like that," I said calmly.

"Because of you, we'll be in trouble."

"He also desired to start a war if given the opportunity," I responded in hushed tones.

Albert panicked in shock. His body language was nervous; he probably didn't expect that from me.

"How come he's still alive?" Albert's gaze shifted to Falkor, disappointed.

"I can't let him die right now," I said, my voice sharp.

Albert nodded slowly, already suspecting and feeling betrayed by me.

"Is that the reason you came? To meet your hunter pal? Why did you then declare war and fight together to eliminate those hunters?" Albert was perplexed by the situation.

"Try to—-" Albert cut me off in the middle of my sentence.

"You aren't the one who informed them of our impending arrival, are you?" Albert crossed the line.

I grabbed his collar; my gaze was drawn to his crystal grey eyes, which were suspicious at the time.

"What do you think I'm for?" Have you ever believed in me? You sounded as if you never did," I was enraged.

"If you were honest with us all, you would not have let that hunter live another second." Albert taunted me.

"He is the one I want to kill more than anything else in the world, but I just want to keep him alive for a little while longer; is that enough to ask?" I attempted to explain in the hope that he would comprehend.

"I despised Max; you shook hands with the enemies to make peace, but then you turned and stabbed the Demonix clan in the back. How could you possibly do that?" Albert was irritated.

"Are you upset because I killed Max and betrayed Demonix, or because I did not kill this hunter?" I laughed.

"If you can betray your companions and stab them in the back in silence, you can betray your pack without us knowing." Albert removed my hands from his collar.

"You think that low of me? I am the Oak Pack's Alpha; am I a joke to you?" I yelled in a loud voice.

That was the first time I decided for myself, and all those years had only been my mission to protect my pack without any demand. Albert, however, did not digest it. He was looking me in the eyes as I committed a crime.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Who treats their Alpha like that?" Falkor was working as a gasoline in the fire

"You are nothing but a little human," Albert said angrily to Falkor.

"Little humans forced you to join forces with the enemy because you couldn't get rid of them on your own." Falkor teased.

Albert was triggered by Falkor's words, and he took a few steps toward him in rage, but I blocked his path to Falkor. Albert felt betrayed and knew I had no intention of backing down.

Another aspect of Falkor's words made me weak; I couldn't go any further to harm him; the man I wanted to kill the most was also the man I wanted to protect the most at the time when everything turned against him.

I ended up in a situation where I couldn't prove myself. I wasn't thinking like an alpha but as the guardian of that child, who was mine.

"So you've decided to abandon your pack?" Albert's cruel words struck me hard.

I was silent not because I abandoned the pack but because my every move was triggering Albert, who was blinded by the Demonix and Oak pack unity agreement rather than understanding the situation.

"We all thought that pack would be destroyed without you; we all made you alpha simply because you were the son of the most respected alpha, but you are not like him." Albert began blaming me.

Falkor's agitation caught my attention. He was eager to flee. Albert, on the other hand, was terrified. I had to deal with the situation.

"We made a mistake by naming you Alpha. I need to tell them all, "Albert expressed his dissatisfaction before departing.

Barefoot Albert walked outside; he could make a huge mess, and the war we agreed to end was about to resume. His words were a raging fire that threatened to consume us all.
