Chapter 24: Chapter 24

Chapter 24

Xavier's Pov

Revenge!

Revenge is a raging fire.

The fire can slowly burn your soul, leaving you in bad shape from the inside; its heat can roast your heart until it turns to ash; and it can play with your brain until it forgets everything but the revenge that remains in mind.

You can lose your mind, yourself, relationships, peace, happiness, and everything that can motivate you to continue living. You are only concerned with vengeance.

Your singular focus causes you to be anxious and greedy, causing you to act quickly without considering the consequences.

Father used to say that if you want to exact revenge, the first step is to battle with yourself, to keep yourself calm and under control, and to keep the fire at a low temperature until it is demanded. More fire can burn you, and the fire we carry inside for vengeance should burn the enemy rather than ourselves. To control the fire, you must first work on yourself.

If you are not in control, your adversary will take advantage of your mental and emotional imbalance. You couldn't win the war unless you finished it within yourself.

I was afraid of Levine when the fire of vengeance wouldn't let him go for a while. The fire he was carrying within him was affecting him; he lost connection with his pack, and he didn't care about himself but only about the revenge he was thinking about.

He was losing himself in the fire when he should have been burning his adversary. He craved vengeance and was willing to destroy the entire world if necessary. Oberon's vengeance drove him to accompany me to the mansion, where he saw some familiar and unfamiliar faces, as well as various pack members. They all greeted him warmly.

Levine wasn't even reacting to anything; he pretended to blend in, but his mind was elsewhere.

Since Levine arrived, he had been asking the same question three times: "How are we going to get our revenge?" He was not even interested in meeting his old friends and was not excited about making new friends.

I wished Levine could stay with me for a longer time; he was my blood, and I wanted to keep him close because he was the only family I had left in the world.

I began introducing Levine to the other new pack members. I was delighted to have him back. Levine was quiet and solemn; I couldn't see the smile on his face because he never sat back, but he used to have it on his face all the time.

Ruth was taken aback as she watched Levine and immediately hugged him. For a long time, she was his best friend, and they both grew up together.

"Omg! "How are you doing?" Ruth inquired.

"Alive," Levine told her.

"How are you doing?" She was the first person Levine approached.

"I am good, Where have you been?" Ruth inquired.

"Somewhere safe," Levine replied, not revealing anything else because he was being calculated.

"I'm glad you returned," Ruth said to Levine.

Ruth was staring at him as if she wanted to dive into his eyes. I could feel the heat between them; they used to be the pack's most famous pair.

"Ruth, you're needed here." Amara's voice could be heard from afar.

"Go," Levine said to her when she was not leaving him.

Ruth walked away. Albert was singing by the fire when some of the pack members were enjoying his song, and Levine's gaze was drawn to him.

Albert watched Levine as he walked over to him and hugged him, leaving his guitar aside. They were both emotional as they watched each other but said nothing. Levine was the one who walked over to meet Albert, Their friendship was deep, Albert was his childhood friend.

"How are you doing?" Albert was questioned by Levine.

"Now I'm good," Albert said, wiping away a single tear from his eyes.

"What are your plans for tonight?" Levine inquired politely.

"I wrote new romantic songs," Albert smiled.

"In my memory?" With a smile, Levine teased him.

They were both laughing, Levine was lucky in connecting with people when I was the one he wasn't. Levine could easily make friends when I couldn't easily open up in front of everyone. We had very different personalities.

A pale white-skinned man approached us, his red eyes fixed on Levine. His braided hair was tangled. I introduced them.

"He is Anthony Carlos," to Levine.

"He's my brother, Ronan Levine." I introduced Anthony to him.

Anthony extended his hand to Levine, but he did not raise it. He realized right away who Anthony was.

"What is that vampire doing in here?" Levine stated angrily

"He is our companion, and the Demonix clan is with us," I said.

"They can't be loyal to predators because they're snakes without a soul." After offending Anthony with his rude behavior, Levine walked away.

I walked over to Levine, but he pushed my hand away just as I was about to grasp his.

"What on earth is this Xavier? Since when do we require the assistance of our adversaries?" Levine was unable to digest

"Alone, we are nothing, but together, we are powerful."

"So you threw yourself as meat to the dog; have you surrendered?" Cruel Levine said

"Try to understand; things are complicated here, and we can't deny the companionship."

"What the hell do they expect in exchange?" Levine inquired out of interest.

"Bonita Henry," I said.

Levine's face had lost all color, and he was pale from surprise.

Bonita was the most beautiful member of the pack, and everyone adored her, but she had feelings for someone who was not a member of our pack.

"Bonita? So you agreed to sell her to them? Just because you needed their assistance!" Levine was irritated with me because he didn't know the entire situation.

I was trying to keep the situation under control because his tantrums were alerting some of the pack members who were watching over us, so I took his arm and led him to the corner for a one-on-one conversation.

"Anthony and Bonita will marry in two weeks. Isn't it amazing that the two most powerful groups in the Underworld will be united, and we will all be powerful?" I wanted Levine to understand what I was saying.

"I'm not sure if you're standing up for the pack to protect them or to destroy them." Levine mocked me.

"You're saying everything because you don't know who I am, you don't know why, and you don't care because you've never trusted your brother." I was let down by him.

For a few minutes, Levine stared at me in silence, and I was curious about his thoughts. I wanted to force him to stand beside me because I needed him the most, but getting him ready for the upcoming battle was difficult because he hadn't even recovered from the vampire and werewolf wedding.

"They will bite you one day, filthy bloodsuckers, motherfu*****," Levine raged.

When Edward's laughter became audible, he turned to face him.

"What a great way to describe them, bloodsuckers motherfu*****," Edward laughed as he approached us. Levine turned to face him.

"No matter how long it takes you to return home, you will never be taller than me." Edward laughed.

"Stop boasting on one inch," Levine replied, smiling.

They both hugged. The relationship I desired from my brother, he had with Edward not long ago; they met a few years ago when my father took Edward into the pack, and they've had a good friendship since then.

"I missed you, sunshine," Edward said to Levine in a feminine tone.

"I did more than you, Moonlight," Levine chuckled.

"Shut up!" Edward exclaimed.

They were both laughing at an inside joke that I couldn't understand, but they were having fun. Levine wasn't as happy to see me as he was to meet Edward.

We always had something between us that kept us apart. I tried many times but failed miserably to maintain my good relationship with my brother; he always blamed me for things I never did, but I was the one who kept all the dark clouds away from the clear sky to keep our relationship stronger.

"Nice to see you, man," Edward said cheerfully.

"You're still the same old freak with a bad fashion sense." Levine made a joke.

Edward was the most fashionable member of the pack, but Levine teased him about it.

"You would not know about fashion if you lived under a rock," Edward countered. "I am changed, a better fashion freak now."

"Change, yes, I see many changes around me," Levine replied.

"A lot of changes have occurred, the most significant of which is our alpha. How are you feeling about meeting our Alpha?" Edward inquired politely of Levine.

"Being Alpha does not imply conducting experiments to create a pair of vampires and werewolves, as they would not set a good example together." Levine made fun of me.

Levine didn't waste any time expressing his displeasure. Edward knew the heated argument was about to begin during the awkward silence.

"I'll see you around," Edward said before leaving us alone.

"Listen to me, we can't continue to follow our father's policies; the enemy is an enemy no matter how weak they are, and they shouldn't be associated with, but I say make enemies your friends, and use them until they are worth it. Vampires were never our companions, and someone had not considered that possibility: "I was convincing Levine of my vision at the time I thought was appropriate.

"Vampires and werewolves cannot coexist; have you ever seen hyenas sharing meals with lions?" Levine was correct, but I had so many plans for the situation.

"This is not an old folk tale; times have changed, tastes in love have changed, and not all werewolves are looking for their true mates; they accept what they love. I've seen them reject their mates, so do they not have the right to live? I'm going to change what I can because we all have the right to love whomever we want."

"Don't tell me you love a bloodsucker," Levine reacted angrily to my choice.

I couldn't stop laughing as I watched the disappointment on his face.

"I don't, but Bonita does; Anthony loves her; their love has been accepted by both sides."

"That's not right; I'll speak with Bonita," Levine said.

"The entire pack couldn't make her forget Anthony, but you can try if you want."

"I don't believe that," Levine said.

When I was about to say something important, I put my hands on his shoulders to keep his attention on me.

"Don't believe anything except Power; right now, power is everything." I was looking into his eyes when I noticed that he was convinced.

"What's on the menu?" Levine enquired

"A group of hunters," I told him, hinting at impending disaster.
