Chapter 10: Chapter 10
Chapter 10
"It hurts," I admitted.
"You won't realize the value of being perfectly fine until you get hurt," while treating the wound on my arm, my father said.
"Father, I'm afraid to ride a bicycle right now; I don't want to fall again," I explained.
"You won't learn until you fall; we fall, we stand up, we fall again, and we stand up again; that process will make you stronger and more fearless in life; don't be afraid to fall," according to Ravon Elsher
A 13-year-old teenager like me didn't understand my father's simple but profound conversation until I experienced it.
That was the only conversation that was going through my head as I was falling from the mountain, but that falling was going to end my life, so I wouldn't have been able to experience anything else.
I opened my tearful eyes slowly after being held by an unknown source in the air for a second and watched Xavier's face. Before my head hit the ground, Xavier put his hand under my head a few inches away from the ground, while another hand held me around my waist, protecting me from falling.
Xavier pulled me up and I sat on the stairs, I was taking a breather.
"I warned you to be cautious," he said.
I was astounded by his speed; he was walking in front of me while I was falling. He was insanely fast. I turned to face him, stunned; I'd never seen anything like it before.
"Who are you?" I inquired.
"I guess it's not easy to get you to remember my name,"
"I mean, you're not even a human."
"Are you? We aren't, of course," he responded.
"No, we are not," I muttered as I realized I had gone insane from shock.
I'd never seen a werewolf other than Logan, and he didn't run any faster. My mother was a werewolf while my father was a human, so I was a half-werewolf and half-human and couldn't explore my abilities.
I knew something was wrong but had ignored it many times before, my smelling power was increasing, and listening clearly from afar was not something I was used to; I was pretending to be human when I wasn't and was unaware of my true identity.
I was fighting with myself because no one was around to talk about the problems I was having in my teenage.
I lived a human life until the age of 14 when I discovered I was a werewolf, and the curse destroyed my life.
"You've had your chance; now listen to me and get on my back," said Xavier.
"No, I would not," I replied, beginning to walk ahead despite my fear of the height.
Xavier grabbed my hand and forced me onto his back while I struggled to get away, but his grip was tight.
"You may close your eyes, but I recommend that you look around; there is another kind of beauty that we miss down there," said Xavier.
My eyes were closed tight in fear, and my long curly hair was swinging in the air as he began to run upstairs at full speed. I mustered the strength to open my eye.
We were above the clouds, and the mountain's beauty was breathtaking. I noticed various types of beautiful flowers that I had not previously seen. That was a different world up there. We got to the top of the mountain in under a minute.
I was able to get off his back. On top of the mountain, there was some kind of town with small houses. I've discovered an entirely new field. Some of the teenage girls were intrigued by me, while others were terrified of me. The girls were all dressed in small stone-age necklaces and maroon gowns.
We came to a halt near three elderly women sitting on a large stone; they appeared to be over 90 years old and were dressed in stone-age bone necklaces and long brown gowns. Their earlobes were stretched by heavy earrings, and they had strange tattoos on their wrist.
"Greetings, Xavier," said Maya.
"How are you doing?" inquired Xavier.
"Good, How's it going down there?" inquired Maya.
"We encountered a few different scents around the territory; have you seen any suspicious activity?" inquired Xavier.
"No, not yet," Maya replied.
"Who do you think it could be?" Maya inquired.
"Vampires," Xavier explained.
"What are they doing on our land?" Maya stated
"They'll tell soon," said Xavier.
Vampire? I've never seen any kind; I used to believe that I was the only werewolf in the human world; I was unaware of my kind until and then I learned about vampires too. I must have spent my entire life living under a rock.
"Her name is Sansa Elsher, and she is my bride," Xavier explained to the ladies.
Elder ladies were scrutinizing me as if I were an alien from another planet.
"Bride? Which pack?" the lady stated.
"By law, we are bound by The Pronouncement of Wonder," Xavier explained.
They were all looking thoughtful.
I was curious about the law, which he didn't explain.
"Welcome, Sansa." the lady said.
When I was unsure of their identity, all I could do was smile. Xavier had a bad habit of not clarifying anything, and he expected me to understand things on my own even though I couldn't remember his name.
"Congratulations," exclaimed Maya.
"Thanks," said Xavier.
Xavier gave a shy smile. He was such a phony, pretending to be a good man while concealing his true nature.
"Sansa, they are the pack's elders, the most respected members," explained Xavier.
"Come with me," said Maya, as she led me away.
I looked at Xavier, and he nodded slightly as if to allow me to follow the lady. As I walked, I noticed that only older men, women, and young teenage girls were present.
Maya led me inside the camp, where there were crystal balls everywhere and a woman with light blue eyes sat in the center of the table.
"We have Xavier's Bride," nicely Maya explained.
"Welcome," said Elodie softly.
"Elodie is our pack's oldest member, sit," explained Maya.
Maya abandoned us both. I sat across from her table, which had a black crystal ball on it. I was inspecting the camp, and the incense burner was emitting a pleasant scent into the air.
Elodie inquired softly, "What is your name?"
"Sansa Elsher," I said.
"Give me your hand, Sansa," politely Elodie requested.
I extended my hand, but she struggled to grasp it, and I realized she was blind. I put my hand in hers.
"You're lovely," said Elodie.
"Are you able to see me?" I inquired out of curiosity.
"I was born blind, but I can see and feel more than any of you," said Elodie, in a deep voice.
Elodie rested her other hand on my hand and closed her eyes briefly. In her strange voice, she was reciting something.
I noticed that the crystal balls around the camp were turning red. Elodie began to shiver and breathe heavily, her voice rose as she recited something strange in another language, and I became nervous. I was getting a supernatural vibe all around me.
"The truth will come out," said Elodie, her voice changing to a heavy tone.
"What truth?" I inquired.
She was shivering and her body was out of control, swinging left and right as she opened her eyes and let go of my hand. For a brief moment in the silence, I noticed the fear on her face. I could tell there was something wrong.
"You have blood on your hands," said Elodie, her voice shaking.
"Who's blood?" I inquired.
She didn't say anything, and I was losing patience; that was shocking news to me.
"Please tell me what you saw, who's blood?" I desperately inquired.
"The man you adore the most," Elodie explained.
I was terrified without considering whether I should believe that strange woman I had only met a few minutes before. I was at a loss for words when deciding.
Logan was the man I adored the most. When I abandoned him to save him. I didn't want to believe her, but she triggered my fear and unleashed an unstoppable storm within me.
I had to keep Xavier away from Logan at all costs. I was worried that Xavier would hurt Logan, and I couldn't stop thinking about him.
