Chapter 217: Chapter 217
Chapter 217 Vision
At this moment, all eyes were on Martin.
"Martin, take it now." Renee whispered with a smile on her face.
Martin glanced at the bank card in front of him, then got up and said calmly, "Grandfather, I am moved by your intentions, but I'm not going to ask for the money, and as for the superior position you're offering at your company, I'm not interested in it either."
Wow!
As Martin said this, the whole table suddenly burst in a heated discussion.
Everyone looked at Martin in amazement.
"I'm not mistaken, am I? The boy said he didn't want such a big gift?"
No one thought that Martin would refuse such a generous gift.
Everyone in the audience was well aware that Martin was very poor and had previously come to them to beg for money.
Mick immediately got up, pointed to Martin, and said in a poignant tone, "Martin, you don't know what's going on! The rest of us come into the company starting from the grass roots, but grandfather directly let you start from the supervisor's position, yet you refused. You're clearly humiliating us."
Christ also sneered. "Martin, you're so ungrateful. I don't think you're satisfied with what father is giving you. That's why you refuse. You want to take more than that, don't you?"
"Christ, I'm back this time just to wish grandfather a happy birthday. I'm not as dirty as you think!" Martin clap backed.
"Why are you child so rude when you talk to your elders? Don't you know how to respect us?" His two uncles slammed their hands on the table and stood up straight, their faces filled with anger.
Who dared to speak to him, the current General Manager of James Group, who ran the entire James Group, in such a disrespectful way?
Even among his peers, no one dared to talk to him like that except his big brother.
Martin's eyes squinted. "Christ, I salute you just because you are my uncle, but that doesn't mean I respect you. Just who do you think you are? I'm sorry, but you are not worth my respect."
As Martin's words came out, and the family was in an uproar again, and everyone looked at him with shock.
"Martin, you've suffered all these years, but it's really wrong for you to talk to Christ like that!" Bob Quintion spoke harshly.
His aunt also said coldly, "Martin, you pay attention to your words. You're talking to an elder. You're so unrefined."
Mick stared at Martin even more viciously, and if it wasn't for the elders present, he'd be rushing up and punching Martin.
For a while, Martin became the target of all the elders.
"Martin!"
Renee also kept pulling him to a corner, suggesting that he shouldn't say anything more.
"Okay, shut up, Christ, and sit down!"
The old man finally spoke.
Christ, sat down reluctantly with his displeasure, but when he did, he still said in a cold voice, "It's a good thing I know how to respect an elderly, or else I wouldn't know what I'd do to you!"
Because of the old man's words, the whole table was quiet at this time.
Parker looked at Martin and said, "Martin, since you refused the five million and executive position I gave you, I must ask, why do you refuse?"
"Grandfather, I now have my own business, and I can't get my eyes into it all at once. So even if you give me five million or any executive position or even the whole James Group to, that won't interest me at all." Martin explained.
At this moment, all the people there thought was that Martin was crazy.
James Group was JY City's number one group with total assets of more than four billion, and at the country level, they were absolutely a giant in the business world.
Even at C City, they had a pretty good reputation.
How dare he say that James Group from the district can't get into his eyes into it at all?
"It's a joke that this young man has inherited his father's stubbornness, and he has also learned to brag. How dare he say that our company doesn't entice him?" His two uncles thought he was being ridiculous!
"Martin, you are still studying, so what career can you have? You're just too mad to talk about something like this." His uncle said.
His aunt shook her head, too. "Yeah Martin, you're bragging too much."
"Uncle, maybe he really has a career of his own? For example, in the university stalls." Mick sneered.
All his cousins present covered their mouths and laughed.
Parker also shook his head slightly.
"Martin, are you sure you won't want to accept my gifts?" Parker asked.
"I'm certain." Martin answered very firmly.
"Well, I respect your choice." The old man said.
As a result, Mick and others were naturally glad about it. Because in their eyes, Martin didn't get the slightest benefit, so he's still a poor man.
Because of Martin, the whole atmosphere of the rest of the family dinner became a little strange.
The family dinner ended in such a hurry.
The old man instructed Rachel and Mick to take Martin, Renee and their other cousins to turn for the evening at JY City and wait for tomorrow's birthday party.
Today was just a family dinner, but Parker's 80th birthday banquet would be held tomorrow.
The location of the birthday banquet was not there, but in Parker's hometown, the James family village.
With his 80th birthday, he has invited almost the entire JY City business elites, and tomorrow was bound to be a very big dinner.
Because the old man asked Mick and James to take everyone with them to take a turn at JY City, the others, at this point, came to the villa door.
Martin didn't want to go, but Renee dragged him and said it'd mean he's looking down on her if he didn't go.
Renee said it all, so Martin had to say yes.
He knew that Renee was tagging him along with her to help him ease his stiff relationship with everyone.
"Boy, back at the dinner at home, you were really crazy and you dared to talk to my father like that. If it wasn't for grandfather, I absolutely would have beaten you!" Mick stared at Martin with a smug face.
"As far as you all know, it'd be hard for you to say who beats whom." Martin scoffed at him.
With Mick looking so skinny, one would know that he was hollowed out by his vices at first glance, and if he did fight with him, Martin could guarantee that the loss would be absolutely Mick's.
Mick sneered and flashed anger in his eyes.
"Damn, I think you're really looking for a punch!"
"Mick!"
Rachel stopped him and said, "Mick, what are you doing with a fool?"
"Hey, Rachel, you're right!" Mick grinned.
Rachel looked at Martin again dismissively. "Martin, you're really stupid to be here. Grandfather proffered you money and status that you absolutely have no way of possessing for all your life, but you refused it all. You might not know it yet, but you're destined to be poor all your life, and you'll be kicked out later. Don't ever say you're related to us. Do us a favor and save us a face."
"That's right! Don't bring shame on us." Mick echoed aloud.
Martin smiled at them dismissively. "Rachel, Mick, your future is here in JY City while mine is to conquer the entire California and the American business community as a whole. We are definitely not on the same level and do not share a common interest."
"What? Conquering the entire American business community?" Mick and his cousins who were there laughed at him.
Rachel also shook his head and sneered, his eyes full of disdain.
Only Renee got up and patted Martin on the shoulder.
"Martin, it's good to have a dream, I'll always support you."
Renee said this, perhaps, to help Martin save himself from the embarrassment.
"Well, we don't have to waste time with this bragging boy." Rachel said.
"JY City recently opened a new shooting club, let's go there to play. They have a real gun." Mick jumped out and said.
"Shooting club? With real guns?"
When they heard about it, they all became very interested.
Especially the boys, they certainly fancied guns, and just thinking that they can carry a real gun and experience a live fire addiction, they were extremely happy!
"I heard that this shooting club was opened by a retired colonel mainly because of his interest and invested $30 million! Membership review is very strict, not open to the public, and an average person is not eligible to go in." Wilbur said.
"That's it? But we don't have memberships." People started to complain.
It's impossible to get membership in this shooting club because of their status as minors.
"Rachel helped me get my membership. Rachel, could you try to figure something out for everyone?" Mick turned to look at Rachel.
"It doesn't matter. I know the boss, so I'll take everyone in." Rachel said slowly.
Rachel, Vice President and heir to the James Group, was naturally well-acquainted with JY City's businessmen.
"Long live, Rachel!"
The crowd cheered him with joy.
