Chapter 101: Chapter 101
Chapter 101 Despair
"Kyle Kuzma!"
"Lonzo Bauer!"
"James!"
At that point, Ron and his friends all stared dumbfoundedly at the people who got out of the car. Since they were basketball enthusiasts, they knew who those people were very well.
They were the Lakers.
"R-Ron, what on earth is going on?" A blonde-haired man said behind Ron.
"Since they're wearing the C City university jerseys, is it true that the kid actually invited them?" Another person said.
"How is that even possible, though? The Lakers were the top team in the NBA. How could that kid even hire the Lakers?" Ron said as he grit his teeth in anger.
"But the players are all wearing C City university jerseys..." The blonde-haired man trailed off
"No, that's just impossible!" Ron immediately retorted.
Meanwhile, when all six people got off the car, they walked in front of Martin.
James, the Lakers' leader, came up to Martin almost immediately.
"Martin, I've brought the members of the Lakers. I'm sorry we were late." James said with a worried look.
"You're not late, James. You were just in time!" Martin said with a smile.
There were nearly 4,000 students present and there was an uproar when they saw what was behind the scenes.
"Martin invited the Lakers!" One of the students shouted.
"The Lakers are wearing our school jersey, so Martin must have invited them to play against the C City Vocational College on behalf of our school."
"I know right?! That has to be the reason!"
"I can't believe that Martin would go out of his way just to invite the whole team!"
"Isn't Martin just amazing?"
There were bursts of exclamations throughout the audience and they were so excited about the fact that the Lakers were in the university.
They almost immediately became aware of the fact that Martin was clearly prepared to vent his anger towards the C City University because they misunderstood him before.
Meanwhile, there was evident arrogance in Ron's face along with his team members.
"Ron, this can't be undone anymore. The Lakers were hired by that brat." The blonde man said as he grit his teeth.
All of members couldn't figure out how that actually happened, but the most crucial part was the fact that they didn't know how they could compete against professionals.
All of a sudden, Martin shouted. "James and his team will represent the C City University!"
As soon as Martin's words came out, the whole audience gave him a round of applause. People stared at Martin, but that was all because of excitement.
If the Lakers appeared on behalf of their school, they knew that the C City Vocational College would be outmatched.
With that, James and his membered entered the court.
As for Ron and his team however, they all put their tails in between their legs and tried to escape, but Martin caught them immediately.
"Ron, suspension is over. If you don't play within a minute, you and your team will be disqualified." Martin said with a smirk.
"God damn it." Ron whispered. He couldn't figure out how Martin got a hold of the Lakers, but he didn't like the fact that they had to play against professionals.
Ron's team looked hopeless, but the referee tried to put them out of their trance.
"Ron, if you don't play again, I'll have to disqualify you and your team." The referee said.
"F-Fine!" Ron shouted. "Let's go, team!"
With that, his team went to the court.
Ron's team were supposed to be the tallest among the audience and the players, but that all vanished when the Lakers came.
They were basically annoying flies to them, and they knew that they couldn't do anything about it.
After Ron and his team went to the court, the game immediately started. After less than 15 seconds into the game, the Lakers scored 2 points for C City University.
Whenever the Lakers scored for the university, everyone from the crowd cheered, which made Ron and his team overwhelmed.
Ron's team were constantly blocked, and they couldn't get a single point at all.
As time passed, the Lakers scored continuous points and Ron's team were quickly overtaken.
Because the Lakers were a professional team, their play style was far too different and incomparable to amateur college teams.
At that point, several members of Ron's team lost their will to play because they knew that no matter how much they struggled, they would never win against the players.
By the end of the first half, the score reached a terrifying 12:88.
The students shouted for victory all the way through because they were so excited about the fact that the Lakers came to play for them.
With that, the first half ended with the referee's whistle.
It was then that Ron and his team felt no determination anymore. They knew how the Lakers played and they almost wanted to give up.
"Ron, what are we going to do?" Ron's team members asked as they looked at him with despair.
"W-We... We lost." Ron said as he slumped on the ground and shook his head.
Even though the second half wasn't done yet, whether they decide to play or not made no difference.
It was then that the break ended quickly, and the second half of the game began again.
By the second half, Ron and his team basically just didn't resist any more and let the Lakers score.
With that said, the second half of the game came to an end and the score had been fixed at 12:178
When the referee sounded his whistle, almost all of the audience cheered. They have been humiliated by C City University before but at that moment, their dignity returned, and they were excited about the fact that they won.
As for Ron and his team, they all sat on the ground as they turned pale.
At that time, Martin took Andre and other people at the scene so they could look at Ron and his team's faces filled with despair.
Andre held his head high as he brimmed with joy.
"Looks like you lost, Ron." Martin said as he looked down at Ron with a smirk on his face.
"No..." Ron murmured. "No! I can't accept this! You didn't play fair at all!" Ron said as he shouted as loud as he could.
"How could you even call the Lakers?! This isn't a professional match at all, so you didn't play fair!" Ron's team shouted behind him
Martin simply shook his head and smiled. "Why are you so upset? I can practically hire an NBA team with my abilities, you know?"
Andre laughed. "We believe in Martin, Ron. You humiliated us for far too long, so this is just a price that you have to pay."
At that point, Ron was speechless. He couldn't believe that Martin would have such an ability.
"I hope you still believe what your promised yesterday." Martin said as he took out the agreement that he and Ron signed. He then threw the paper in front of Ron, but Ron simply just stared at the paper in shock.
Their agreement was that if Ron lost, they would get down on their knees and apologize to the entire C City University.
Ron turned pale. He didn't want to move an inch, but he felt so much anger that he practically lost control of himself.
"Y-You want me to get down on my knees and apologize?! As if!" Ron said as he picked up the agreement that he and Martin signed and tore it up.
