Victor tried to get answers from the thief but got nothing as he preferred to wait for his lawyer and it wasn't a serious crime but he was certain he had other criminal records which he intends to find out.
The day came so fast. As expected Jenny's chauffeur came first. She has dressed already so she went with him to escape the paparazzi. Lucas is a big picture man.
Bobby came to the hotel to pick her up and was told she left already. He reported it to Lucas who was furious waiting for an opportunity to punish her.
The party wasn't a typical everyday party. It's probably a business launch. Jenny walked to her.
" Welcome, Audrey. Isn't it glamorous? This is for wealthy people. I'd be lost if I didn't belong to one" she said with a hint of sarcasm.
" I can imagine but why am I here again? She asked scornfully
" You're my plus one and you're here to experience firsthand how the rich lives"
" It's nothing new. It's no news that the wealthy people use parties as business reservoirs though it's de ja Vu to me" she exclaimed Making her frown
" Give me a minute" she left sullenly.
She picked a glass of wine and moved around. She felt a gaze and turned to see someone staring dead at her. She gulped the whole glass of wine in one go taking another. She moved somewhere else and saw Lucas step in then she looked back and found nothing. Who was the person staring at her?
It's a good thing she came prepared. She looked up and saw him towered over her.
" Hi there. Long time no see" she exclaimed gulping her wine
" Stop drinking, please. You're in public" said Lucas grabbing her hand softly
" Didn't you receive my letter?
" Aren't I wearing your dress? We're not on good terms don't you remember. You and I have been avoiding each other since that make-out session" she whispered
" You're here now. Stay close to me. I forbid you to drink" he ordered
" You're a general. Always bossing people around" she sneered
She followed him while he greeted other investors. He introduced her every time. She wondered if they were a media couple now. They moved to another set of people who she guessed were shareholders. He placed his hands around her waist making her flinch at the sudden contact.
They were finally done with the pleasantries. His four friends approached them smiling.
" Who is the lucky girl for Luke? I asked Roman to check her out.
" You mean his borrowed date" teased William sipping his drink while Audrey stood motionless without a word
" Cut it out, boys. She's my plus one right Audrey? He said making them shocked
' you mean this is Audrey? Asked Peter ready to remove her mask but she yanks his hand off
" C'mon babe, seeing is believing" smirked Nathan whistling
" You guys need Christ. "They chuckled
" Let's dance," said Nathan stretching his hands.
" No dance with me," said, Peter
" They're both lousy dancers. come with me beautiful" said William with a wink. She was about to take his hands when Lucas held her
He knew his friends were trying to make him jealous. Or perhaps they wanted to touch her but he wouldn't let them.
" Didn't you ask for a dance the other time? He asked grabbing her hand.
His friends were surprised. Is she the one he was kissing in the papers? They had to know so they picked random girls to join in the dance Jenny gladly went with them.
Lucas held her waist with one hand and her hand with the other while her other hand was on his shoulder. She was staring at him.
" What is it? He asked
" Nothing. I don't know why it feels strange" she lowered her head
" Good. " He grinned twirling her. she smiled while dancing though it wasn't her type of dance.
Jenny and Nathan paired. She kept moving to their sides and quickly took her mask off. The paparazzi started taking pics of her including guests with their phones.
Lucas blocked her as she hid her face on his chest. Lucas shouted at them. They stopped immediately.
" Delete those photos or I'm not signing any contract and if I see her photos on the news tomorrow. I'll sue that company. Now kindly delete those films. My relationship is my privacy. Stay out of it" he picked her to mask up and put it on her.
" I'm sorry about that Audrey," he said raising her chin while Nathan glared at Jenny who was disappointed
" Alright. It's over now" she murmured as he puts her hands on his neck and he was in her waist
" They won't print anything. I found the source of the photograph. It seems a guest shot it and sold it to the media. Don't worry I took care of it" he assured touching her temples
His friends looked at them and smiled. He's smitten by her too. He just needs some persuasion and they're up for it.
Audrey was lost in his deep grey eyes that she was lost for words. Lucas didn't bat an eye either. He wanted to kiss her but held it back. He needed to be sure of how he feels for her. He knew it wasn't lusting. He didn't know what it is. He has never wanted a woman this bad before.
She rested her head on his shoulder breathing on his neck. He felt hot and twirl her Around handing her to Peter.
" Where's he going? Asked a disappointed Audrey
" Nature's call. What? Don't want to dance with me? He smirked twirling her now that she thinks of it. she does hate the dance or did she liked it because of Lucas?
" Stop twirling me. I feel dizzy from the spin. This dance is terrible" she lamented making Peter laugh. He exchanged with Roman
The four friends kept taking turns for the dance at the end she was exhausted. She waited for him but he was nowhere to be found. Then she joined his friends at the high table giggling and laughing. They were fun to be with.
The party was finally over. It was time for her to go home. She said her goodbyes to them while she followed bobby to the car.
" Where's Lucas?
" He's still busy..do you prefer to wait for him?
" Yes I mean no." She stuttered as he chuckles
" Alright then. Your seat belts Miss" he said politely as she kept staring outside
" We can wait for him if you want," he said again
" No need. Take me home please" she stated. she was exhausted for the night. Besides she didn't think he wanted to go with her. He has a punctual personality.
