Chapter 20: Chapter 20

Lucas had an online seminar he was officiating. He was on it all evening hoping to see her but she refused to come. He knew he shouldn't be furious but he is. He contained his anger focusing on his work.

She arrived late. Late as in very late like one in the night. She didn't want to see him.. she came at a time when everyone was asleep. She took an elevator to Xander's office unfortunately Luke was in the elevator receiving calls.

She ignored him though she greeted him which he didn't reciprocate. He continued on the phone till they reached their destination.

Surprisingly, he left first. She was surprised but shook it off. She blames herself for getting attracted to a client something she hasn't done before. Now she can't do her job properly.

She trailed to Xander's office and knocked he bellowed a come in making her frown. She entered and saw him with a broken nose and rushed to him.

" What happened to you? Who did this to you?

" Our biggest client" he announced pressing his nose

" Why?

" Simply because I told him that I don't have the right to check out clients. And I made him wait for you" he stated

" What were his conditions? I'm all ears" she asked in oblivion

" He wants the Management to fire you. He laid an accusation against you saying... " He stuttered

" What!!! What did he say I did? She snapped. Who does he think he is to meddle in her affair.

" He said you're a seductress. " He added

" Where's he?

" The management has agreed to it but could change their mind if you can change his perspective of you"

' he can go to hell. I ain't negotiating with him. I'll find somewhere else. To hell with the pity party."

" Please, Audrey. This isn't an easy decision for the management. Just negotiate with him and see if he'll change his mind to prove yourself" he advised

" Why are you saying so? If I leave my position will fall on your shoulders" she asked surprised he's not saying something bad.

" I think our hotel needs someone as tolerant as you. It's no news that he turned you into a hostess. Something I wouldn't have done" he commented

" Yeah. It's not every day you got to see a general manager as a hostess" she grinned

" Fine. I'll negotiate with him tomorrow. I fear he's asleep already" she lied. She went to her office to think.

She recalled the shooting. Will he go that far to hurt her? She was sure there are lots of women out there with their hips and figure dying to be with him.

It proved to her that he'll never accept her past which she has buried deep inside. Lucas isn't worth her love. He's going to use her like Adrian. The man who saved and ruined her life.

This was the first time she thought about him after many years. She sighed resting her back.

She opened her eyes and it was dawn already. She yawned, got up, and wore casual wear: jeans and a tank top. She asked for his schedule and was told he was in the gym and trailed there .she wasn't going there to negotiate but to see for herself.

He was on the treadmill running. She watched him do his thing as memories of the other day came rushing in and the shooting after. She frowned and walked to him with enough space.

" Good morning Mr. Hamilton"

" What have you been doing there? Thinking of what to say? He asked nonchalantly

" I didn't want to interrupt your training. "

" Well get to the point or get out" he snapped" taking a bottle of water and a towel

" Yeah. Did you ask the management to fire me?

" Hmm" he hummed not in the mood to bicker words with her

" I'm not a seductress. I wear the hotel uniforms. Stop insulting my dignity" she said angrily

" Keep lying to yourself. It's for a week anyway. " He said putting the towel around his neck

" Is this really how you see me? A distraction? She couldn't hold it in anymore.

" I think lesser of you. Someone who randomly kisses people and strips them. Someone who can't say no. Someone without a will" he retorted

" Whatever you say. I don't care how you see me. I could leave this town too if you want me to. The world is a big place after all. " She uttered in utmost dismay

" Get out of my sight. "

" As you wish" she starred dead at him and left. He's a terrible person

Lucas resumed exercising from now on he's going to stop being attracted to her. She's just like the other women he concluded.

Audrey got home and was ready to see her friends when someone dragged her from behind.
