Chapter 19: Chapter 19
On her way to the date, she noticed a black SUV trailing behind. At first, she thought it was just a normal thing but it kept following her. She panicked, did Viola found them? But how? She drove as fast as she could.
Before she knew what was happening they started shooting at her. She called for emergency help immediately.
The shooting continued. Then she thought it couldn't be Viola. She has never used such a tactic to chase or attack them before.
She escaped gracefully and thought it was Lucas. Did he send them after her because she refused him? he's the only one with a grudge. She was scared thinking about it. She sighed and rested her head on the steering wheel.
The police came and she reported the pursuit to them. They searched but couldn't find anyone then advised her to call a direct number next time. she agreed and sped off and halt on the way.
Then someone knocked. She got scared wondering how they found her so soon. The knock came again and she raised her head courageously and saw David standing outside. Only then did she realize she was at the resort: which was their date venue.
She opened the door and ran into his hands holding him tightly. David consoled her rubbing her back to calm her down.
Lucas's car was at the venue. He sneered while watching the scene. One minute she was beneath him and the next she's in another man's arms. She dared to ask for more from him.. she's not worth his time and effort. He told his chauffeur to drive.
Audrey was finally calm and noticed she was in David's arms. She composed herself and cleared her throat.
" I'm sorry about that. I'm just overwhelmed cos no one has ever celebrated my birthday before. I guess I have one now" she whimpers. Gosh, she's such a good liar. That David believed it.
" And I'll continue to do so forever if you'll give me the chance" he vowed. She was pretty scared to date him now. Not after Lucas just tried to kill her. Men are dangerous she concluded
" Shall we?. I thought this was my birthday" she tried changing the topic. Some boys passed and couldn't help but whistle and gawk over her figure.
" Let's go then," said an infuriated David dragging her inside.
" It happens to me every time. " She cackled. He's a jealous Man she concluded. He's in so much shit if he dates her.
" I'll put a stop to that. Let me proclaim you mine" he voiced amicably
" We're friends Dave. " She retorted as her phone started to ring. She checked it and frowned.
" Yes, Xander?
" Mr. Hamilton is checking out. I thought you'll like to know" he announced making her flinch.
" What! Why?
" He gave conditions and you wouldn't like it"
" What did he say? She wasn't curious to know not after he tried to kill her for refusing to sleep with him
" Come and negotiate with him. " He said cutting the call. She ignored his statement and continued with the date.
David spent so much to give her a grand birthday party. She was excited. She didn't want to send for her friends as it might endanger their lives.
" May I have this dance? Asked David stretching his hands to her. she took it gladly but stopped when a girl came forward clapping. She looked familiar thus recalled her to be the reason behind her and Lucas's first kiss.
" I knew you two were bluffing or you're simply a cheat. taking him for a ride " said the girl while David looked at her puzzled
" So what? I don't see how it's your business. Do me a favor and get out of my sight. If you want Lucas Hamilton to go and have him. Stay out of my way" she said furiously
" You stay away from him then. "
" He's all yours. I don't want him. God knows I never will" she said coldly taking David's hands for the dance.
" Were you dating the ex-military general? He doesn't like women" said David in anger
" Of course not. I .... Forget it" she said leaving. He chased after her
" Audrey, what's going on?
" Nothing. I've some shit going on in the hotel. I have to go. Thanks for the wonderful party. Love it" she commented trailing off. David knew she was avoiding his question. She's still single he concluded heading inside.
