Chapter 87: Chapter 87
"Those who have this power, there will never be a cure. They will continue to do the same thing, even in a different way. I'm quite disappointed in you, Jonea. I thought you'd hate B4. Now you even support and join them. Do you think they'll change? You are so naive to believe that."
Jonea jolted awake from her sleep with a body covered in sweat and breathless.
"Jonea? How are you?"
The first time she opened her eyes, Jonea saw Marlyn holding Jonea's hand beside her. The girl looked around and realized she was in the hospital.
"What happened, Marilyn?" Jonea was confused.
"Are you still in pain? Is there any part of your body that still hurts? I'll call the nurse."
Marlyn left Jonea to call the nurse, but Jonea pulled the girl's hand.
"Stay here and tell me what exactly happened to me?"
"You don't remember what happened to you? You've been unconscious for a few days."
Jonea shook her head weakly, even though she actually remembered the last incident that happened to her. Biggest and the rogue werewolves hold Jonea captive in an old factory warehouse. Just then, a group of men appeared in the warehouse and surrounded them all.
It was only up to that part that Jonea could remember. Then, vaguely several scenes were recorded and replayed in her dream. Jonea still remembers the last words Biggest said before Jonea doesn't remember anything else.
"Let me call the doctor to examine you. I'm afraid there's something wrong with your body. How can you not remember everything that happened to you?"
"Wait, Marilyn!" retorted Jonea. "How did I get here? Where did you find me?"
Marlyn took a deep breath and looked concerned. The girl shook her head worriedly. She wanted to say something to Jonea, but something held her back.
"I didn't save you. I can't explain it to you in detail. Someone called me and said you were injured and in hospital. That person also asked me to take care of all your needs while in the hospital. But I'm forbidden to tell your family. That alone is very strange."
"That person? Who? Do you know him?"
Marlyn was really very nervous. Her gaze wandered as if she spoke another word; something bad might happen to her.
Jonea could catch her friend's gesture, and she chose to remain silent.
There were lots of questions and curiosity floating around in Jonea's mind.
'What happened to Biggest and company? What happened to Ashley? What happened to Hunter who had helped him? And most importantly, who are those people who have Biggest surroundings in the warehouse?'
That question kept swirling around in Jonea's head. But, seeing Marlyn's frightened attitude, Jonea swallowed all her curiosity back. She acted as calmly as possible and pretended to have some memory loss.
A doctor and two nurses came to visit Jonea. They checked the girl's pupils and all of her vitals.
"She's fine," said the doctor. "Nothing to worry about."
"But, Doctor. My friend doesn't remember anything that happened to her before she got to the hospital. Is it dangerous?" asked Marlyn in a very panicked and worried manner.
"Partial memory loss. This is normal as a result of trauma. Slowly her memory will return. It all depends on how the patient manages the psychological pressure they face while experiencing trauma."
"Will it affect her future, Doctor?"
The doctor smiled and tried to calm Marlyn.
"Of course, that's not going to happen. She can still carry out normal activities. Lost memory is the body's mechanism for protecting itself from severe trauma."
The doctor and the two nurses left Jonea's treatment room. Marilyn wanted more. She went after the doctor.
However, while in the hallway, Marlyn overheard the doctor's conversation with someone over the phone.
"Yes, Ma’am. The girl is sober. It seems she was traumatized and lost some of her memory. She can't remember what happened to her the last time."
Marlyn heard everything clearly. She gasped and covered her mouth tightly. The girl immediately hid behind the curtains so the doctor wouldn't notice who was talking to someone on the phone.
"So it's true that someone is watching Jonea. I have to be careful and do something!"
Marlyn rushed back to Jonea's treatment room. She looked for a way to take Jonea away from there without anyone noticing, including the hospital staff.
Jonea just fell asleep. The doctor deliberately gave her a drug that made Jonea feel like a paralyzed person.
"Jonea?" whispered Marlyn. "Jonea, wake up!"
Jonea really looks like a drunk. She could still hear Marlyn clearly, but her whole body was numb.
"Jonea, wake up! Please, we have to get out of here. They mean bad to you!"
Jonea tried to speak but couldn't. She couldn't even move her finger. Jonea had no idea what the doctor had done to her.
The girl could only blink so slowly at Marlyn.
"Yeah, even blinking is enough!" Marlyn was in tears.
She began to put Jonea in a thick coat, wrapping a scarf and mask on her. Marlyn moved Jonea into a wheelchair and tucked the girl in. In a hurry, Marlyn took Jonea to the elevator.
Before getting to the elevator, someone approached from the end of the hall. Marlyn led Jonea into one of the staff rooms to hide.
After feeling safe, Marlyn took Jonea out again and took Jonea to the parking lot using the freight elevator.
Jonea's body was limp, and they kept stumbling while being pushed into a wheelchair. Marlyn was running around in the parking lot. She was scared.
Marlyn lifted Jonea up into the truck she had borrowed with difficulty. She just left her wheelchair and drove like a madman.
"We have to get away from here, as far as possible! I feel someone is hunting us."
Jonea really sat limp beside Marlyn. On their way out of the hospital, a black SUV follows them.
"Fuck!" Marlyn cursed. "Who are these people?"
Marlyn had fastened the seat belt on Jonea's body. She focused on driving and running away from her pursuers. The radio in the car turned on as Marlyn cleared the bumpy road.
"Ashley Simpson, who was reported missing, is now found dead in a forest near the old factory. The identity of the perpetrator and the motive for the killing are still being debated. There are no witnesses or evidence to show who the perpetrators of this beautiful girl's murder were."
"Ashley?" screamed Marlyn. "What's the matter?"
The girl changed the radio channel and heard the news from another source.
"A third grader, a schoolmate of Ashley Simpson who goes by Biggest, is suspected of murder. Now, that young man is being chased by the police!"
"Did you hear that, Jonea?" Marlyn was so panicked and scared. "Ashley is dead, just like the guy said! He's the one who contacted me to come to the hospital. It's really terrible."
"Who?" Jonea said with difficulty.
She spoke like a stroke man. At that time, Ashley realized that the doctor at the hospital had deliberately injected drugs to weaken Jonea's nerves. Ashley hopes the drug reaction is only temporary.
"Who are those people?" repeated Jonea.
"Which people?" asked a confused Ashley. She kept looking back. The SUV kept up with her and went even faster.
Jonea closed her eyes and thought back to the last event before she didn't remember anything.
'Those guys came to the warehouse and surrounded us. I don't recognize them. It was the people Ed or the other members of B4 sent. But, Biggest looks scared.'
Biggest dragged Jonea into a room when the attack happened.
"Jonea, go! They are dangerous. Don't let them find you. These people are the ones you have to fight against. If I can't survive, you should continue to find the culprit. Revenge for all of us who are victims of this conspiracy. They are… part of B4!"
All the rogue members fight with the newly arrived group of men.
"Cover your face and body with dirt. Don't let them sniff and follow you. Hurry up and get out of here!"
