Chapter 47: Chapter 47

Hunter's running ability is unquestionable. He is a wolf. No matter how fast Jonea drives the scooter and how far she goes, Hunter can find her quickly with his running ability and sense of smell.

Hunter cut his way through small alleys between shops and markets. Several times he saw the scooter speeding up at the end of the road. Hunter continues to hunt her. Until he arrived at an entertainment area filled with nightclubs, karaoke places, mini supermarkets, several small restaurants, and many ramen shops scattered there.

Hunter slowed down and strolled. His breath was a little panting. However, he enjoyed himself so much along the way that the atmosphere felt so different from the city center where he lived.

"I didn't think a small suburb could find a place as fun as this. Homes and places of business blend into one."

Hunter's ears twitched. His tiny earrings glistened in the morning sun. He spun to the right to the sound of a speeding scooter.

Hunter came running again. He lost the scooter but strolled, looking individually at the buildings and shops. His steps stopped when he saw the same scooter parked across the street in front of a fried chicken restaurant.

Hunter saw Miller standing at the door of the fried chicken restaurant. Hunter crossed the road and was about to approach him. But, simultaneously, Edison appeared from inside the restaurant to open the door and was seen smiling to welcome Miller.

"What is this?" Hunter was a little astonished.

When Miller turned slightly to the side, Hunter could clearly see that it was Jonea, Miller's twin sister.

Suddenly Hunter's chest felt tight. Something was stabbing his chest to his stomach. He was envious and jealous of Ed, who looked familiar with Jonea.

"How could they…?"

Hunter clenched his fists.

"I feel betrayed. My three best friends, except me, seem to know and are very familiar with that girl! This cannot be allowed. The girl and her twin brother are also very suspicious. I'm sure they have some purpose in approaching us. I must get Ed away from that demon girl!" grunted Hunter.

In front of the fried chicken restaurant, Jonea was shocked when Ed suddenly came out of the restaurant while wearing his fried chicken restaurant employee uniform.

"Ed? What are you doing here and wearing that uniform?"

Ed smiled broadly, spreading his arms to show off his new uniform.

"Look, starting today, I officially work at this fried chicken restaurant!" he said proudly.

"WHAT?" Jonea screamed. "How could that be? This can't be happening!" cried Jonea.

"Why do you look so upset?" he asked. "I need a part-time job. When I passed by here, I saw a job announcement. So, I just went inside, and unexpectedly, the restaurant owner received me happily." Ed tasted great victory. "Don't you work here too?"

Jonea, on the other hand, looked irritated.

"Can't! You can't work in my parent's restaurant. Let me talk to them and reverse the decision."

Jonea quickly walked into the restaurant. Ed, who was stunned and shocked, immediately came to his senses and stopped Jonea. Ed took the girl's hand.

At the same time, someone grabbed Jonea's left hand from behind.

The girl was shocked. "Hunter?"

Ed was no less surprised to see Hunter's sudden appearance. Out of breath and looking a bit disheveled, Hunter took Jonea's hand from Ed.

"What are you doing here?" Hunter shouted at Edison without letting go of Jonea's hand. Hunter intends to rid Jonea of Edison.

"What are you doing here?" Edison replied, no less surprised.

When he saw Hunter grab Jonea's hand, Edison was even more excited and pulled Jonea to his side even more vital.

Jonea, who was in the middle and fought over by two handsome young men, felt confused and annoyed.

"Yeah… yeah… yeah!" he shouted.

Jonea tried to pull her hands away, but the two young men didn't want to let go. They both pulled Jonea to their side. Jonea was dragged right and left like a toy two little boys were fighting over.

"Ed, let this girl go! You can't go near her!" shouted Hunter, pulling Jonea towards him.

"What do you mean?" Edison was no less ferocious. "You have to let her go! See, you hurt her!" Ed replied as he pulled Jonea towards him.

Jonea really has a headache. Her groceries were scattered as they both scrambled to pull their hands to different sides.

"Stop it, both of you!" Jonea shouted as loud as she could.

The commotion caught the attention of the passers-by in front of the restaurant. They all watched Jonea, who was fought over by two handsome young men with envious looks.

Jonea's screams could also be heard in the restaurant. Her mother came running out carrying a spatula. The woman was worried that something would happen to her daughter.

"What is this? Hey, let go of my daughter! You want to do bad to her?" Jonea's mother hit Hunter on the head with a spatula.

"Please stop it! Ma'am… this hurts!" shouted Hunter, bending over and protecting his head with both hands.

However, Mrs. Fallon continues to beat Hunter in annoyance. Ed and Jonea, who saw that, could not bear it. Finally, they separated Hunter from Mrs. Fallon.

"You want to kidnap my daughter, huh? You want to hurt her?" shouted Mrs. Fallon, still beating Hunter.

"Mom, stop!" Jonea asked loudly while holding back her embarrassment. She held her mother's hand. "He's not a kidnapper, Mom! He's Hunter Abraham, a schoolmate of Miller's."

Ed himself covered Hunter's head with his body.

When she hears Hunter is a schoolmate of Miller's, Mrs. Fallon stops suddenly and is embarrassed.

"Ah, why didn't you say earlier that he was Miller's friend? I'm sorry. I misunderstood you."

Mrs. Fallon bowed repeatedly in regret for what she'd done to Hunter.

Hunter just rolled his eyes and glanced sharply at Jonea and Ed. Because of the two of them, he becomes the target of Mrs. Fallon's tantrums.

Fifteen minutes later, Jonea came out of the kitchen carrying a big plate of fried chicken with various flavors. Jonea's face crumpled. She placed the large scale of fried chicken on the table in front of Hunter and Edison, who sat across from each other.

"Eat!" Jonea exclaimed curtly. "Here's free fried chicken from my mother as an apology."

Hunter only glanced at the plate of fried chicken with one eye. He showed a disdainful reaction and seemed disinterested in the fried chicken.

"So this fried chicken restaurant belongs to your family?" he asked.

He turned his head to pay attention to the interior of the fried chicken restaurant, which looked simple. Still, the customers who came were always busy and always packed.

Jonea stood between Hunter and Ed at the table with her hands on her hips.

"Eat it," whispered Ed. "This fried chicken is delicious! You definitely won't regret it. I know you haven't had breakfast yet."

"No!" sneered Hunter. "I don't eat fatty food."

"Tch," Jonea grinned. "Eat if you like and leave when you are done!"

Then Hunter's gaze fixed on Edison, who sat across from him while wearing the uniform of the fried chicken restaurant employee.

"Ed, what are you doing here? Why are you wearing this restaurant uniform?" Hunter raised the corners of his lips.

Jonea failed to leave and turned to Edison. "And you too! Get out of here when you're done eating."

"Jonea…," Ed said, sulking a little. "I'm not leaving here. Your parents have accepted me to work here."

"What?" shrieked Hunter, who could not believe his hearing. "Work here? In this cheap chicken restaurant?"

"Yeah," muttered Ed as he took a piece of fried chicken thigh and took a big bite.

The corners of Ed's lips were smeared with oil and ketchup. He munched on the fried chicken deliciously. Hunter gulped as he watched Ed gorge himself on the fried chicken.

"Why are you working here? Are you crazy? You have plenty of work at your parents' company if only to fill your spare time."

"Because I love this fried chicken restaurant. Try it! This fried chicken is delicious. I could eat all I wanted fried chicken if I worked here. That's what Jonea's mother promised."

"Let's go! I can buy you any amount of fried chicken!" hissed Hunter.

Mrs. Fallon came over with two cold glasses of cola for Edison and Hunter.

"I apologize for my rude behavior earlier. I really didn't know you were a friend of my son. I'm really sorry, Hunter. If you want more fried chicken, I can wrap it up, and you can take it home."

"Mom!" retorted Jonea.

Hunter suddenly stood up nervously. "Can I ask for another compensation for the punch you gave me earlier?"

Mrs. Fallon was terrified.

Jonea immediately pushed Hunter's chest and was angry. "What are you doing? Why are you being rude to my mother? I will be in charge!"

Mrs. Fallon was further frightened by Jonea's reaction. She took Jonea's hand and whispered.

"He looks like a rich man's son. Is he going to sue Mom and take me to the police station? I already hit him!"

Jonea hissed and asked her mother to stay calm. She then approached the Hunter and bowed her head to the youth, who was in a lower position due to sitting on a chair. Their faces clashed.

"I have no business with you," sneered Hunter. He pushed Jonea aside and headed straight for Mrs. Fallon.

Jonea gaped and almost threw a fist at Hunter.

"Mrs. Fallon, please accept me working here! Think of it as compensation for beating me earlier."

"W-what?" shrieked Jonea and Ed together.
