Chapter 43: Chapter 43
"Hunter, are you all right?" Ed followed Hunter back to his regular dormitory.
"Please, Ed. Leave me alone," Hunter said, annoyed.
"Sorry," said Ed. "Though I don't know why you're upset. But I think you need to accept my apology."
"Fuck!" shouted Hunter as he hit the wall. His hand was cut, leaving a bloodstain on the impact mark on the wall.
The wound had healed and closed when Hunter pulled his hand away from the wall. Ed was still waiting in the doorway. He also feels guilty for lying to his friends. But Ed couldn't tell them the truth. His own future is at stake.
"I will accompany you tonight until your anger subsides. Do you want to go to the bar? Or do you want to hunt in the forest?"
"Tell me how you know that girl–Sonia Fallon?"
"Jonea Fallon," Ed corrected Hunter.
Ed had already opened his mouth to explain, but he failed to say it and instead turned his head away from Hunter.
"Actually, I don't know that girl. It just so happened that we met backstage just as Miller was about to perform."
This time Ed didn't lie.
"Should I believe that?" said Hunter sarcastically.
"I know you can't trust anyone right now. But I'm telling the truth. You should ask Elmar or Aland. How did they know Jonea as Marlyn Monroe?"
Someone knocked on the Hunter dormitory door. They both jumped. Hunter shrugged, and Ed opened the door.
"Ashley?" Edison looked nervous and panicked.
"I looked everywhere for you, Honey. It seems you are here." Ashley barged in and looked around Hunter's dorm room.
"Hi, Hunters. You look so messy. I heard you moved to the regular dorm. This is unusual. What are you doing in this crappy hostel?" asked Ashley while looking at the room's interior. "Isn't the VIP dorm much more comfortable?"
Hunter just gritted his jaw without speaking. He put his hands on his hips and turned his back to Ashley. While the girl was still looking around without the slightest shame.
Ed, who saw his girlfriend being outrageous, immediately panicked. He dragged Ashley away from Hunter.
"Are you drunk? How much alcohol do you drink? You can't be here. This is the male dormitory!" whispered Ed. "I'm taking you home right now. Hunter needs time to himself. There was too much pressure today."
"What is it?" asked Ashley, still curious. "I want to look up. I heard above is the nerd's room. Tonight he made the girls hysterical."
"Sweet Heart, please," begged Ed pleadingly. "Let's get out of here, okay? It's already night too. I'll take you home."
Ed immediately dragged his girlfriend, leaving Hunter alone in the dormitory.
They were both already in Ashley's car. Edison was driving. Ashley suddenly asked to stop on the side of the road.
"What's wrong, Sweetheart?" asked Ed patiently.
"Is there something you're hiding from me?" asked Ashley, crossing her arms over her chest and resting on her bare legs. Her chin lifted, and her eyes fixed on Ed.
"I have nothing to hide from you. Oh, yeah, here's the thing. I just remembered now," Ed said, trying to cover up his nervousness.
Ashley was still sullen in the passenger seat. She was waiting for Ed to do something to make her smile that night.
Edison reached into his coat pocket, and it dawned on him. "Damn! I forgot about it. Sorry, Ashley. Your present seems to have been left in my coat. And I lent it to someone."
"On a girl? Right?" she demanded. "Everyone is gossiping seeing you holding and hugging a girl. You lent her your coat? Who's she?"
Ed's face turned pale. He really didn't expect matters to become this complicated.
"She's a nobody. Only one invited guest. Oh, why do they love to make rumors so much? The girl had an incident where a cola spilled on her dress. I lent her my coat. It's just a form of courtesy. I promise to replace your gift with a better one. Okay?"
Ashley was not satisfied with the answer given by Edison. She was still pouting and scrunching up her face. Ed returned to driving Ashley's car to the girl's house in an elite residential area at the top of the hill.
"We're here," said Ed.
He off the car engine and handed Ashley the keys.
"Come in. I'm going home by taxi."
"Didn't your personal driver come to pick you up?"
"No. Today I asked him to take a day off. Because I want to be alone with you. However, you seem to be in a bad mood. I'd better go home so you can rest."
"No, don't take a taxi. I'll ask my driver to take you home."
"No, Ashley. I will use a taxi. It's getting late now. Go home and rest." Edison hugged his girlfriend and planted a sweet kiss on her forehead.
Ashley looked disappointed. She was expecting a kiss on the lips. They exited the car, and Ed was still standing by the road.
"Come in," Ed ordered. "I will leave after making sure you enter the house safely."
Ashley nodded and waved. After she entered the house, Edison breathed a sigh of relief.
"What will happen if Ashley finds out the truth? Does she still want me?"
Ed needs to hail a taxi. He walked to the nearest bus stop far from Ashley's house.
"Jonea… she holds my secret. I have to be on the lookout and keep an eye on her. That girl can't be left alone." Ed hissed.
While at the stop, a bus stopped. The door opened, and Ed hesitated. He backed off after apologizing to the bus driver.
"Fuck!" he grumbled while massaging his forehead. "I have no money to take the bus. There's no way I'm running from here to the house, right? Even though I'm a wolf and have good running ability, that's too much! Should I call Aland and ask him to pick me up?"
Ed left the bus stop and started walking down the sidewalk.
Crunch... Crunch...
Ed stopped and held his growling stomach. "Gosh, I can't even remember the last time I put food in my stomach."
Ed couldn't walk anymore. He stopped and squatted by the side of the road like a madman. "Jonea… Jonea… Jonea… why do I keep thinking about her?"
Minutes before going on stage and showing off the suit of armor for auction, Ed's hands shook as he unzipped Miller's dress.
"You… not Miller?" shrieked Ed. "You… a girl?"
When Ed was about to pull Jonea to see her face, suddenly the door opened, and someone hit him.
Thump!
Ed fell down. "Miller?" He was shocked and wiped the dripping blood from his split lips.
"Keep your filthy hands off my sister!" shouted Miller angrily.
"Your sister?" Ed grinned in disbelief.
Jonea turned to Miller, who suddenly appeared unexpectedly. Jonea was surprised to hear her sister's voice there.
Miller immediately turned Jonea's body and helped zip up her dress.
Ed was still transfixed and confused. Miller slowly helped Jonea release the Kabuto from her head. Ed gaped like a madman when Jonea was freed from Kabuto and stood beside Miller.
"You are twins?"
Jonea couldn't explain much. Their time was also running out.
Ed laughed miserably. He felt he had been conned all along. He was about to leave the waiting room to tell his friends. But, Jonea pulled Ed's hand.
"Stop!" cried Jonea.
"I can't let this happen. You two have deceived the entire school and the foundation. You must get punished and expelled from this school, "Threatened Ed.
"If you do that, we will be destroyed together!" replied Jonea.
"What do you mean?" Ed squinted.
"You are no longer Edison Fuller. You are unfit for the position of B4 member and special club president. Because you are now nobody. Everything you showed in front of your friends was a lie. You just…."
Jonea came closer and whispered the last words in Ed's ear.
Ed's face turned pale. He felt so naked that he was speechless. It felt like his life had ended that very night.
Shame turned to anger. He grabbed Jonea and pushed her against the wall. Edison nearly strangled the girl. But Miller immediately restrained him.
"I told you to keep your dirty hands from my sister!"
Jonea smiled tiredly. "I can guarantee your secret will stay safe if you do the same for me."
Tin…! Tin…!
Ed's thoughts were broken when someone honked loudly. A motorcycle headlight shone right into Ed's face.
Ed turned and raised an arm to cover his dazzling eyes. He saw a scooter stop right in front of him.
"You need a ride, Young Master?"
"You? How did you get here?"
