Chapter 66: Chapter 66
Chapter 66 Jealousy
On an early Sunday morning, Bella was woken up by a knock on the door and Edward's voice from outside the room.
"Bella, get up now. Lanny just called. She and David will be at our house by five in the afternoon, and we need to get ready in advance," he said.
"Okay, fine." Bella sat up and grunted in discontent, getting out of bed to open the door for Edward. "But why did she call you instead of me, anyway? Is she trying to rekindle the-"
"I know what you're thinking, and I just want to tell you that no matter what she does, I'm only yours," Edward cut her off with sweet words, which disturb the sleeping butterflies in her stomach. "Stop overthinking, hon. It's your birthday. Your sister can't probably reach you since you have a new phone."
"Oh, right... I forgot about that." Bella laughed, but she was still wary of Lanny's hidden intentions.
Edward smiled and kissed her cheek. He could not help but shower Bella with so much love on her birthday. She deserved it, and he did not mind acting all lovesick.
"Let's not waste time. We need to prepare food, clean the house, and weed the lawn before the guests arrive," Edward said.
"That annoying bitch." Bella rolled her eyes. "She offered to help me with my birthday party, but I ended up the one working my ass off to entertain her and her guests."
"Stop sulking, hon. It's your birthday," Edward reminded her and smiled gently. "You go to the market now and buy the ingredients. I'll take care of the rest."
"Wow! Really?" Bella said in mock surprise as she surveyed Edward's legs. "I'm looking forward to that."
Edward chuckled and shook his head, knowing his wife was just kidding.
Once they had distributed the chores, Bella washed up and ate the breakfast her husband cooked before driving to the market. Edward then called Andrew, hiding behind their house, as soon as she was out.
"Go and fix the lawn," Edward casually ordered as he sat on the couch.
'What? Fixing lawns?' Andrew flinched in surprise at the unusual task he received from Edward.
He had never imagined a member of the Special Forces like him would have to do such a trivial job that a random teenager could do.
Edward shot his brow up when Andrew had not moved an inch. "What are you waiting for?"
Andrew swallowed hard when he remembered how the president lost his patience last night. He hurriedly took a lawn mower out of the house and fixed the lawn, which only took him half an hour to do.
After finishing his first task, Andrew returned to the house, ready to receive another order. Edward stood up and looked out the window with his arms crossed, checking if he did the job right.
"Very well..." Edward nodded eventually. "Now, I want you to clean the house. I want every corner spotless without a single strand of hair in sight."
Andrew's jaw dropped when he heard his next assignment, but he gritted his teeth and reluctantly accepted the task. He would never have sold his dignity if his boss had not paid him so much.

Throughout the morning, Andrew went around the house, cleaning every corner as the president instructed. No life-threatening mission had exhausted him, but cleaning the house alone was on another level.
While panting, Andrew arched his back to do some stretches before announcing, "Boss, everything's all cleaned up!"
Edward watched Andrew throughout the whole time, so he was confident that Andrew did his job diligently. A faint smile crept on his lips as his orders were executed flawlessly.
"Now that everything's done, all we have to do now is wait patiently for Lanny's arrival," he said. "I want you to keep your eyes and ears open the whole time. Every move she'd make, even an inch, should be guarded."
Andrew could not help frowning. "Boss, Lanny might be planning something evil. Why don't I just go meet her head on and stop her?"
"No need." Still wearing a confident grin, Edward waved his hand as he shook his head and said meaningfully, "Since she's throwing herself at us, we'll give her what she wants."

It was 4 p.m. when Lanny and David left their house to go to Bella's party. David sat in the passenger seat, frowning and looking so irritated.
"Why do we even have to attend that stupid party? You hate Bella, but you're going all the way to celebrate her birthday."
David had an arrangement with Mary to go to a hotel that day. He was supposed to be living the best of his life and taking care of his manly needs, but Lanny had dragged him to Bella's birthday party.
"Is it because you want to see that useless man? Are you seeing him again?" David asked sharply.
He glanced at Lanny with displeasure and grew increasingly disgusted with her. Since she got pregnant, she seldom had sex with him, saying it was to protect the baby, but he knew better.
Lanny obviously just wanted him for his name and money. She did not want to do her duties as his wife. David was in heat almost every night, but she could not care less.
"Honey, I don't really like Bella, but she is still my sister. I should show her a little compassion on her birthday. After all, she married someone as pathetic as Edward," Lanny flawlessly spat out lies as an excuse.
'Well, that makes sense,' David thought as he grunted and turned his face away.
The car began to move in the next second, and Lanny also started going through her plans. She had invited Bob to the birthday party since he could not sneak into Bella's house. She made sure that she would be successful that time around.

After an hour, David and Lanny arrived at Bella and Edward's humble home. However, instead of being greeted by the hosts, they spotted a fawn in the yard.
Lanny narrowed her eyes as she locked her gaze with the fawn. Engulfed by curiosity, it was too late for her to notice the fawn charging against her as if it had gone mad.
"What the hell?!" Lanny cursed after the fawn attacked her. She pushed her sharp claws out and tried to slit its throat, but Bella rushed out of the house just as she was about to move.
"No! Stop it!" Bella covered the fawn with her body. "It's just a baby deer! How can you be so cruel?!"
Edward hurriedly followed Bella outside while trying to stay in the act.
"Cruel?" Lanny frowned and lowly growled. Her blouse was slowly getting ripped apart as the anger built inside her. "The thing tried to hurt my baby and me! Even David saw it!"
Lanny tried to pounce on the fawn again and continue killing it until she heard Edward.
"If you don't want to ruin this party, then just let it go, Lanny," Edward calmly said, knowing Laney's weakness.
Hearing those words, Lanny immediately regained her senses. She withdrew her claws and stopped the shift. She was nearly naked and Edward turned his head to avoid the sight.
"Are you being shy? Why? You've seen me naked before." Laney snickered.
Seeing Lanny flirting with Edward, Bella's fists clenched and her teeth clenched as a jealousy welling up in her heart.
