Chapter 5: Chapter 5

Chapter 5 The Farce on the Wedding

Everyone turned to look at Bella and Edward.

Bella knew what Lanny wanted to do. Lanny wanted to show the gap between them in front of everyone.

She wanted to leave, but the light above her made her unable to move. All those who looked at her were like soldiers guarding prisoners.

"Sister, what are you waiting for?" Lanny held the microphone and urged her gently.

Lanny looked like a good-tempered elder sister. Bella believed everyone would think so.

"Bella, don't stand there in a daze. Your father is watching you." Bella didn't know when Mrs. White had walked to her.

She felt Mrs. White push her back lightly.

It reminded her that she could only control herself as much as possible. Even if Lanny went too far, she could not spoil the wedding party, disgrace the White family or stimulate Mr. White.

She took a light breath, recited "patience" in her heart three times, and then pushed Edward to Lanny and David.

The lights had been following them. They were like two beautiful dancers performing an amazing dance on the stage.

When they reached the center of the hall, the lights finally went out.

Lanny deliberately stood beside Bella.

Everyone could tell that Lanny was delicate, while Bella was miserable and poor.

Moreover, Lanny's husband was in high spirits, while Bella's husband couldn't even stand up.

Bella saw lots of people whispering to each other as they looked at them.

She told herself to be patient and not to forget herself in front of so many people.

Lanny put her arms around Bella's shoulder like an easy-going sister and said to others, "Bella was born without a wolf, and she has been living a hard life. Edward has no property and lives in my parents' house with Bella. I hope they could live a better life than David and me and don't worry my parents anymore. After all, they are already old."

Lanny described how useless Bella and Edward were, saying they could only live off her elderly parents.

Bella looked at Edward anxiously.

She could endure it, but what about Edward?

If Edward chose not to indulge Lanny, her patience would be meaningless.

"Bella, do you want to say something?" Lanny handed the microphone to Bella.

She looked too snooty, and she was sure that Bella wouldn't go against her.

Bella glanced in the direction of Mr. and Mrs. White and saw Mr. White's serious face.

She pursed her lips and took the microphone.

At this time, Edward held her other hand.

Bella looked sideways, but Edward still looked straight ahead.

Was he supporting her quietly in this way?

Bella felt warm in her heart.

She smiled sincerely, like the sun melting the ice.

"My life with Edward is very happy. This kind of happiness is invaluable and priceless."

As soon as she said this, someone exclaimed, "Is that Florid Abgrund?"

Bella felt that there was something heavy in her other hand.

She looked down, only to see a dazzling ring.

Immediately, someone questioned, "Florid Abgrund disappeared in the shipwreck fifteen years ago, didn't it? It must be fake!"

"Please don't question my professional level in jewelry appreciation. I can bet you with the reputation of my whole family." The person who recognized the ring first was serious.

Someone cared more about the price, "How much is this ring worth?"

"Such jewelry can't be measured by money! It's priceless."

Bella was dizzy as he listened to the arguments.

Edward even got a fake Florid Abgrund.

She hoped the fake ring could deceive others, or they would be embarrassed.

People argued louder and louder.

Edward took Bella's hand, slowly lowered his head, and kissed the back of her hand lightly.

Bella was at a loss.

He had a big heart!

Edward took the microphone from Bella's hand like an eye-catching prince, "My dear wife, even Florid Abgrund can't match the love you give me. Please let me hold your hand till the end of my life."

Bella had no idea how she stayed there until the party was over.

When she left the hotel, the first thing she did was to take off the fake ring and return it to Edward.

Edward asked her, "Are you really allergic to jewelry?"

Bella didn't expect him to remember what she deliberately said to that man.

She touched her finger, "This ring is fake, isn't it? Fortunately, no one noticed it was fake, or we would be so embarrassed."

Edward held the ring, "No one will know it."

Bella didn't understand why he was so confident, "Why?"

Edward looked into her eyes, "Because it's real."

Bella smiled helplessly.

She was not a child. How could she believe that Edward had such a precious ring?

If it was real, Edward wouldn't have gone bankrupt.

Bella looked out of the window, "Keep it if you like, but don't take it out in front of others again."

It was a hair-raising wedding party.

They didn't talk about the ring again.

When they got home, they went back to their rooms.

Bella took a bath and went to bed.

She slept restlessly and had nightmares.

"Splash!"

A basin of cold water mixed with ice woke Bella up.

Her face hurt, and she opened her eyes. Feeling cold all over, she gasped for air.

Lanny threw the basin onto Bella and stood with arms akimbo like a ferocious devil in the dark, "How dare you upstage me!"

Before she rushed to Bella, Bella jumped off the other side of the bed and ran to the window.

Bella pressed her back against the wall, "I did everything you wanted! What are you dissatisfied with?"

Lanny grabbed the pillow and threw it at Bella. She shouted crazily, "Edward hid Florid Abgrund and gave it to you! It should be mine! Now everyone is talking about you. My efforts are in vain!"

She stretched out her hand, "Where's Florid Abgrund? Give it to me!"

The pillow hit Bella's face, and her head hit the wall. It hurt so much.

Sure enough, the ring caused her trouble.
