Chapter 30: Chapter 30
Chapter 30 The Check
"Yes." Edward looked extremely cold.
He looked down at his legs.
If he only taught Bob a lesson, it was useless.
He was the root cause of Bella's trouble.
Edward ordered blandly, "Buy a crutch for me.".
"Crutch?" Andrew raised his head in surprise, "Why do you want a crutch?"
Edward said, "Because I want to stand up again."
He wanted to stand beside Bella without a mask and announce to everyone that he was her husband.
"Boss, it's dangerous. Your identity might be exposed in this way." Andrew reminded him.
Edward sneered, "Maybe I won't have to take the risk, will I?"
Many people would be frightened if they knew Bella's disabled husband was the president, but Bella wouldn't. She was innocent.
Edward smiled cruelly.
Andrew lowered his head more, "Okay, I'll have your crutch made to order."
Bella was in a good mood.
Because Jenny told her that Bob had been sent to the hospital. He suffered from a fracture, and he asked for a sick leave of half a year.
Bella didn't have to see Bob in the next six months, which made her delighted and relieved.
If the unexpected guest didn't come, it could have been a perfect working day.
Mrs. Wilson took out a red pen, wrote down a string of numbers on the checkbook casually, and put the check on the table.
She pushed the thin piece of paper to Bella with her finger and said, "This is a check. You won't earn so much money all your life."
Bella couldn't help looking out the door to make sure that no woman would come in to do a striptease again.
She put her hands on her lap and didn't touch the check. She just lowered her head and glanced at it.
The moment she saw the amount of money, she widened her eyes in shock.
Mrs. Wilson thought too highly of her. She couldn't earn so much money even if she had a life hereafter.
However, no matter how much money Mrs. Wilson offered, the money didn't belong to her.
She looked at Mrs. Wilson and said, "But I can't accept your money for no reason."
Mrs. Wilson didn't expect Bella to refuse.
Wasn't Bella satisfied with so much money?
Compared with those gold-diggers, Bella was quite principled.
Mrs. Wilson added, "In addition to money, you can ask for something else, and I will satisfy your need. Don't worry. I always keep my promise."
When Bella saw Mrs. Wilson last time, she was aggressive and hot-tempered, but she was very calm and gentle this day, which surprised Bella.
Of course, she didn't know it was because of Edward that Mrs. Wilson had the patience to negotiate with her.
As a result, she thought Mrs. Wilson changed her attitude because Mrs. Wilson felt sorry for her.
For the first time, she saw someone use so much money to apologize. She said, "Ms. Wilson, I know what happened last time was a misunderstanding. You don't have to take it to heart."
Bella was sincere, but Mrs. Wilson thought Bella was going against her. She said, "You refuse me again and again. Are you deliberately embarrassing an old lady like me?"
Bella shook her head hurriedly and said, "That's not what I mean."
How dare she embarrass the president's mother?
The voice in Mrs. Wilson booked no argument. "Take the check or I'll be angry."
Mrs. Wilson's tone was so stern that Bella straightened her back nervously.
"Take the check right now. Can't you understand what I said?" Mrs. Wilson ordered Bella again.
Bella felt like she had been whipped. She immediately picked up the check with both hands and said, "Okay..."
"All the money is yours. You can spend it as you like. With the money, you don't have to work anymore. If you don't like to be idle every day, you can open a shop." Mrs. Wilson planned Bella's future for her.
In her opinion, it was worth using money to let this dangerous woman leave Edward.
Bella looked at the check and blinked twice.
Open a shop?
She could open a snack shop or a flower shop.
If she owned a shop, she could quit her job, and she didn't have to beware of Lanny and David anymore. Moreover, she didn't have to face Bob.
Most importantly, she could work with Edward and stayed with him all day.
Bella felt so ashamed because she felt that it was worth being slapped by Mrs. Wilson.
Sure enough, money made people degenerate.
Bella couldn't help imagining what her shop would look like, how big it would be, how she would decorate it, and how many employees she had to hire.
"Mom." A low male voice obtruded upon her thoughts.
Bella was stunned for a moment before she saw the president who stood next to her.
Bella stood up with the check and asked, "President, you're not in the company today, are you?"
Edward looked at her and said, "If I didn't come, would you accept this check?"
Andrew told him that Mrs. Wilson came to the company to find Bella while he was dealing with something outside.
He was afraid that Mr. Wilson would bully Bella again, so he gave up the important business and hurried back.
When he got to the door, he happened to hear Mrs. Wilson ask Bella to accept the check.
This stupid woman actually accepted it.
Did she know what it meant?
"President, Mrs. Wilson apologized to me for the misunderstanding last time, so she gave me the check. If you don't agree, I'll return it to her." Bella explained.
She realized that Mrs. Wilson didn't tell the president about this matter.
Moreover, it seemed that the president didn't want her to accept the money.
She'd better return it to Mrs. Wilson.
Although she wanted to open a shop with Edward, she would feel uneasy if she accepted a large amount of money.
"Apologize? I never intend to apologize to you!" Mrs. Wilson said coldly.
Bella raised her head suspiciously and asked, "If it weren't for what happened last time, why did you give me so much money?"
Mrs. Wilson sneered, "I give you the money to let you leave my son! Don't think about seducing him!"
Bella loosened her fingers, and the check slowly floated to the table.
She did not expect that she had misunderstood Mrs. Wilson's intention.
She was like a clown.
Mrs. Wilson said sarcastically to Edward, "I told you she was a gold-digger. She can leave you for a little money."
"Stop talking." Edward stopped Mrs. Wilson.
He bent down, picked up the check on the table, and tore it to pieces in front of Mrs. Wilson and Bella. "There's no check now. I'll pretend as if nothing has happened. Don't do this again."
Mrs. Wilson sneered, got up, and went out.
