Chapter 27: Chapter 27
Chapter 27 Rumors
Lanny was having a hard time. To be exact, she was going crazy.
Since the president warned her last time, she had become the laughingstock of the company.
Others would have new topics to talk about, but she was still troubled by this matter.
This morning, she heard her subordinates say she was a crazy woman in the tea room.
Since she was angry, why couldn't she vent her anger on her subordinates?
Moreover, as subordinates, they deserved to be bullied. How dare they gossip about her and scold her? It was unforgivable!
Although she immediately asked the Human Resources Department to dismiss the subordinate, she was still unhappy.
The most irritating thing was that while she was upset, Bella seemed to be living a good life.
What was wrong with the president?
He hired such an inferior woman like Bella and treated her well. He even troubled her for Bella!
"Damn Bella, damn it!" Lanny punched the table hard.
Next to her, David said with a gloomy face, "She's obedient to you, isn't she? Tell her to quit. I can give her a new job."
As a man, his pride had been hurt badly. Therefore, his tone was full of impatience.
Lanny, who had been unhappy, looked at David mockingly.
This useless man always looked arrogant, but he was only better than ordinary men.
He didn't even dare to speak loudly in front of the president.
But he was impatient with her. What a loser!
She sneered and said, "Do you think I'm as stupid as you? I've warned her, but she dared to go against me!"
David complained irritably, "Should we let her stay here and annoy us?"
Lanny went off the deep end.
David's attitude was terrible. Did he think she should take all the blame?
She pointed at David, "Are you a real man? You have no idea what to do when we get a problem!"
David retorted with a red face, "I have to concentrate on my work."
Lanny didn't bother to waste her time arguing with him. She turned around decisively and didn't look at his face. She disliked him more and more.
"Since she doesn't think about the consequences, we don't have to show her mercy," Lanny said viciously.
Hearing Lanny's words, David asked, "What's your plan?"
Bella still stood with her back to David and said in a cruel voice, "What do you think will happen to her if others know her husband is disabled?"
Everyone was realistic.
If a woman's husband was disabled, it meant she had a miserable future.
People would spread vicious gossip about Bella.
Lanny felt that she had generously shared an interesting topic with her colleagues, and Bella was the topic.
She had done too much for the company.
David didn't refute. He even thought Lanny's plan was perfect.
Bella ignored him and refused him because she had forgotten how humble she was.
He and Lanny would let her get a clear understanding of her situation and face the cruel reality.
Soon, everyone in the company knew that the new president's assistant had a disabled husband.
Rumors always spread quickly. Bella heard of it in a very embarrassing way.
"You married a disabled man and work hard to support your family. It's so tiring." Bob shook his head and sighed.
Bella and Bob were not familiar with each other. Bella only knew that Jenny hated Bob and cursed him for his lust for women.
However, Bob suddenly went to Bella and talked about her private life.
Bella said expressionlessly, "Where did you hear of it?"
Bob said in surprise, "Everyone knows it. Didn't you tell others about it?"
Bella pursed her lips.
She would never take the initiative to share her private affairs with others.
However, she had known who spread the rumors.
Only two people in this company knew about her family situation and wanted her to suffer. They were Lanny and David.
Didn't they always say they were busy?
Why did they find time to make things difficult for her?
"Bella, you're under great pressure, but you work hard and smile cheerfully every day. I feel so sorry for you." Saying this, Bob wanted to touch Bella's hand.
Bella reacted immediately and put her hands behind her back quietly.
She coughed and said politely, "Thank you for your kindness, but I'm not so miserable."
Bob rubbed his fingers and regretted that he didn't touch Bella. He said, "Women shouldn't live a tiring life, let alone a pretty woman like you."
He was attracted by Bella's beauty the first time he saw her.
Bella was gentle, beautiful, and capable. She was an excellent woman.
Bob knew that such an awesome woman like her wouldn't be interested in a man like him, so he restrained his impulse sensibly.
However, yesterday, someone told him Bella had a disabled husband.
Bella could only waste her time and life on a loser. How could she be willing to accept such a life?
At that moment, Bob knew what he should do.
He was the man who could save Bella.
Bella frowned.
Whether she lived a tiring life or not, it had nothing to do with Bob.
He couldn't give her a pay rise.
Bella said blandly, "I don't think I'm tired."
"Don't force yourself, Bella. Not every man is as useless as your husband. There are real men in the world. They will protect you and take care of you." Bob deliberately straightened his chest to make himself look taller.
Bella opened her lips slightly, "Is that so?"
Bob hinted to her eagerly, "As long as you keep your eyes polished, you can find such a man around you."
Bella sneered, "Are you talking about yourself?"
Bob thought Bella had finally understood. He said, "You're indeed a smart woman. You know what's on my mind, don't you?"
Bella shook her head and said coldly, "I don't know."
Bob thought she was flirting with her, and he said, "It doesn't matter if you don't know. I can tell you about it slowly."
He took out the flowers he had prepared early in the morning and put them in Bella's hand with determination, "Here are..."
Bella looked at Bob and said, "I'm going to work for the president. Are you sure you want to tell me about it slowly?"
"Why didn't you say it earlier?" Bob questioned her nervously.
The president had such a bad temper. He would suffer if the president knew he had wasted Bella's time, wouldn't he?
Bella didn't tell him about it just now. She would cause trouble to him, wouldn't she?
What a silly woman!
He glanced at Bella's face and realized that his tone was too excited. Then he said in a hurry, "I mean, work is more important. You can't miss the president's work. Hurry up and leave."
"Mm." Bella nodded and walked past him.
