Chapter 24: Chapter 24
Chapter 24 A Monster
There was a cruel expression on Mrs. Wilson's face.
Every time she dealt with the women who wanted to seduce Edward, she looked malicious and heartless.
She planned to send Bella to the cannibal pack so that she would be eaten like food.
Edward's face darkened when he sensed what Mrs. Wilson was thinking. He said, "Don't hurt Bella, or I'm not sure what crazy things I'll do."
"Are you threatening me?" Mrs. Wilson slammed the table.
Her chest heaved violently, and even the necklace on her neck was trembling. She said, "Are you threatening your mother for that humble woman?"
Edward held Mrs. Wilson's shoulders and looked into her eyes, "Mom, I've fallen in love with Bella."
After speaking, he loosened his hands and walked slowly to the French window.
Mrs. Wilson fell back on the chair behind her, and she looked serious.
She finally realized that this matter was much worse than she thought.
As soon as Bella got home, she slammed the door shut.
She put on her slippers and walked in angrily. When she entered the living room, she stumbled over the carpet and almost fell.
Bella threw away her bag, sat on the sofa, and put the pillow on her lap. Then she buried her face in the pillow and screamed to vent her anger.
She screamed for a few minutes before stopping.
Bella slowly raised her face, only to see Edward looking at her beside the tea table. She was startled.
"Why don't you say something since you're here?" Bella patted her chest and complained.
Had he been watching her screaming like a madwoman?
Edward said, "I thought you were going to kill yourself with a pillow."
Bella's cheeks were as red as a tomato.
In Edward's eyes, her angry face was particularly lovely.
Bella hammered the pillow on her knee, "I won't die. I'll live a better life than everyone else."
She would live a better life than Mrs. Wilson and the woman who provoked her.
Thinking of Mrs. Wilson's arrogant face, Bella was furious.
She looked at Edward and asked, "Edward, did you like to wrong others when you were a rich man? Do the rich think the self-esteem of ordinary people is worthless?"
Bella knew if she were as wealthy as Mrs. Wilson, she would never be treated like that.
It was because she was an assistant that Mrs. Wilson firmly believed that she wanted to seduce the president.
But was it wrong be an ordinary person?
Moreover, she had never done anything to seduce the president.
Mrs. Wilson had thought too much.
"I..." Edward didn't know how to answer.
In the past, he didn't care about anyone's self-esteem whether they were rich or poor.
He believed in strength.
He only respected the strong.
However, he couldn't say this to Bella who was furious.
Bella leaned against the back of the sofa and looked at the ceiling. "I don't know what's wrong with Mrs. Wilson. She doesn't know me at all, but she confidently said I seduced her son."
"Did you seduce your boss?" Edward asked on purpose.
Bella straightened her back and looked at Edward, "Of course no."
That was all Mrs. Wilson's delusion.
She had never done anything like that. How could Mrs. Wilson wrong her? She even broke into her office with a group of women in bikinis and humiliated her. She had gone too far!
Wait! Edward said "boss" just now.
She didn't tell him who Mrs. Wilson's son was, did she?
Bella frowned and asked Edward, "Did I tell you Mrs. Wilson is my boss's mother?"
Edward said in a calm voice, "Yes."
Bella tilted her head and asked uncertainly, "Really?"
She didn't think she had said that, but Edward answered her firmly.
Did she forget saying that?
Edward looked helpless and said, "Maybe you don't remember what you said because you're too mad."
Edward looked so serious that Bella believed his words.
She patted her forehead with annoyance and felt even more aggrieved.
She didn't do anything wrong, but Mrs. Wilson slapped her in the face. She even had a poor memory because of this.
Bella grabbed the pillow, "The president always wears a mask. I don't know what his face looks like. How can I fall in love with him?"
If she could, she wanted to say these words to Mrs. Wilson.
Edward looked at her, "Don't you want to know what his face looks like? Everyone has curiosity, doesn't he?"
Curiosity was a human instinct, and Edward knew this very well.
He understood that people were curious, but he never allowed curiosity to impinge on his life.
However, if Bella was curious to know what he looked like, he wouldn't mind.
Bella shook her head and said, "No. I guess he must be ugly. Maybe he has three eyes and four nostrils, so he always wears a mask."
Bella described the president's face in her mind.
She was frightened by the strange face she imagined.
Edward was startled as well.
He didn't expect Bella to picture such a horrible face.
Edward rubbed his temples, "Oh... It turns out you think he looks scary."
Bella was immersed in her fantasy. "In horror movies, people who see the monster's face will be killed."
She regarded herself as a screenwriter for a horror story, and the monster in the story was her boss.
Edward repeated her word, "Monster?"
If someone else used this word to describe him, he would have been killed.
Bella didn't know what he was thinking and turned to look at him. "If he looks so weird, he's a monster, isn't he?"
She had no prejudice against different looks, but she held a grudge against her boss because his mother slapped her in the face.
Edward said with a stiff smile, "That's just your imagination."
He tried to steer the conversation away from her strange imagination.
Bella shook her hand impatiently and said, "In a word, I'm not interested in his face, not to mention him."
Then Bella saw Edward's gloomy expression.
Bella's straightforward words made Edward feel like he had been rejected face to face by the girl he liked.
Although Bella didn't know he was her boss who wore a mask all day long, he felt he was disappointed in love.
However, Bella thought it was her impatient tone that made Edward unhappy.
She immediately apologized to him, "I didn't mean to lose my temper. You don't know what my boss's mother did today."
Bella told Edward what happened after Mrs. Wilson broke into her office.
