Chapter 2: Chapter 2
Chapter 2 Imprisonment
A little girl in a dress was running happily and freely on the Boulevard, like a carefree little bird.
Bella stood in front of the window, her eyes full of keen envy.
She was locked up by Lanny and David because they thought she would do something to ruin their marriage.
Now, David was standing behind her and talking to himself.
"Women are like clothes. When I was a petty clerk, you were qualified to be with me. But now I've become a respectable director. A housewife who does housework all day long and has no job doesn't deserve to be with me. My wife should be Lanny who's beautiful and smart."
David turned his cuffs. He was wearing an expensive high-end suit. The fabric and cutting were nice. It was much better than the bargains he bought before.
After he got promoted, he threw away all his clothes and filled his wardrobe with expensive clothes.
However, he still felt that something was missing, but he couldn't figure it out until Lanny flirted with him. He felt that he was too silly. Shouldn't he replace the boring woman at home first?
He didn't feel guilty because he was doing the right thing.
Bella still focused her eyes on the little girl who was jumping and running.
At this time, his words couldn't hurt her anymore.
Being a housewife was her job, and she firmly believed that her efforts for the family were valuable. As for his mind, she couldn't change it, and there was no need to change it because it meant nothing to her.
She didn't reply, and David gradually felt bored.
He was her whole world, wasn't he? Normally, she should have knelt and begged him not to abandon her, though he would only divorce her according to the style of a successful man.
He thought for a while and finally figured it out.
"Stupid Bella, do you think I will care about you and continue to be with you because you're cold to me? That's your wishful thinking. Sober up and accept the fact as soon as possible."
Originally, Bella wanted to pretend that David didn't exist, but she couldn't stand him anymore.
Why did she never realize that he was so narcissistic before?
She turned around and said in an extremely calm voice, "You misunderstand me. I have accepted everything, and I have no wishful thinking. Since you are busy with your work and you have to prepare for your wedding with Lanny, don't waste time on me. Please leave."
Originally, David was smug, but his expression changed when he heard her words.
He stood up and arranged his collar, "Of course I'm busy. You'd better not have any bad intentions. You can't bear the consequences."
Then he went out.
When Bella looked out the window again, the little girl had left.
She touched the curtain with her fingers.
If she tied the curtain and sheets to the foot of the bed and put them down from the window, could she escape successfully?
However, where could she go after running away?
Bella was overwhelmed by helplessness. She felt lonely and confused.
What had happened recently came to her mind again and again. Time went by quickly. In the evening, the sunset dyed the floor orange.
"Oh, Bella." The door was pushed open. Lanny held David's arm and walked to her.
Lanny was wearing an expensive high-grade wedding dress, while David was wearing an elegant suit to match her.
"Sister, I've finished all the wedding procedures with David. Now say something nice to congratulate us. We won't deprive you of the opportunity to congratulate us just because of your inferior identity."
Lanny was wearing a huge diamond ring, and she kept showing it off. She was like a crowing rooster.
"Congratulations. I hope you will always be the superior."
Bella remembered when she was locked that day, Lanny grabbed her hand and took away her wedding ring.
"Since I'm David's wife now, you can't have the diamond ring anymore because it was bought with my husband's money," Lanny said as arrogantly as usual.
Lanny looked at Bella, wrapped her arms around David's neck, and leaned toward him. They kissed each other passionately for a long time.
Bella looked at them indifferently and did not react.
Lanny was here to show off, so she was dissatisfied with Bella's calmness.
What she wanted to see was Bella's painful expression. If Bella wasn't grieved, she wouldn't feel so satisfied.
"Since you've got married, I want to be free again," Bella requested.
Lanny rolled her eyes, and a malicious smile touched the corners of her mouth. Then she smiled happily, "Oh, I can't waste any more time. My husband and I are going to enjoy our wedding night."
They went out. After a long time, Bella finally couldn't hear them flirt with each other.
Tears kept streaming down Bella's face. She raised her fingers and wiped her tears gently.
"Any sad girl should have a shoulder to rely on." said a handsome young man in a wheelchair, his voice was very pleasant and calm, which comforted Bella's heart for no reason, "Do you mind if I come in?"
"Not at all," Bella replied simply.
With Bella's permission, he pushed the wheelchair into the room.
He was the most handsome man Bella had ever seen. He has gray-blue eyes and a sexy, strong, square jaw. He was tall, but unfortunately, he couldn't stand up, and Bella felt sorry for him. Bella guessed this man should be Edward, Lanny's ex-husband whom she had never met. She couldn't help but feel sentimental now. She thought of herself as being ridiculed, cheated on, and abandoned. Who was she to feel sorry for him? Her body trembled. After a long time, she finally walked over, leaned on Edward's shoulder, and cried in a low voice.
