Chapter 11: Chapter 11
Chapter 11 An Experience of Death
Bella never expected that her father would turn to a private detective in order to look for her.
As the head of a family, her father must have been very furious because he could only find his own daughter by this way.
Clenching her bag firmly, she said, "Sorry, Dad. I didn't mean to keep it from you forever. I just want to come to you after everything is settled down.
Being very exasperated, Mr. White brusquely interrupted Bella, "Who taught you to despise your father? Is the cripple?"
Mr. White's voice was so loud that Bella trembled violently.
Dropping the bag hastily, she explained, "It was my decision. Edward had nothing to do with it. Please don't misunderstand him."
The more Bella spoke up for Edward, the more the Whites felt their daughter had been cheated.
Bella, despite her stubbornness, had always respected them. Their daughter must haven't done such audacious behaviors definitely.
The Whites stared at Edward furiously.
It was a bestow for the useless man that they were willing to take him in, even though he had no money. Unexpectedly he dared to bewitch Bella against their parents.
Crossing her arms on her breast, Mrs. White said sarcastically, "It was a totally wise decision that Lanny had got rid of a disabled and gloomy man like you."
She glared at Bella, "How could I have given birth to a stupid daughter like you? You lied to me and your father for the disabled that Lanny had abandoned."
Mr. White snorted, "I have told you not to dote on her so much!"
Edward held a cup of black tea – the cup was a white ceramic with a beautiful green vine pattern. The heat of the black tea was emerging from the cup rim, filling the living room with a faint aroma.
He was tasting the tea as if it was a protected painting in a museum, exuding the sense of sacredness.
The Whites kept saying some satirical words about his disability and poverty.
If not hearing what the Whites was saying, Edward behaved more like a king calmly accepting the praise from his subjects.
Bella tried several times to explain, but she was always interrupted by the Whites. They scolded her for lying, and reproached her for breaching their so many years of education.
She felt so guilty about Edward.
To relax his throat that talked too much, Mr. White took a sip of black tea.
After finishing his tea, he put down the cup, giving Mrs. White a glance, and then said, "It's getting late. We'd better go."
Just as Bella was relieved, Mr. White glared at her again, "Hurry up. Take you stuff and Edward. Go back with us."
Mrs. White continued to said, "Just take some clothes. I will call the movers to pick up other stuff tomorrow."
Bella looked at her parents in astonishment, "Mom, Dad, are you here to let come back home?"
Mrs. White said impatiently, "Don't stand there like a log. You should be ashamed of yourself for your elderly parents come here to take you home!"
Taking a deep breath, Bella spoke, "If I move out now, I won't get my deposit back. And I have already got a job. Here is close to where I work."
Without looking at Bella, Mr. White said, "We don't care about the deposit, and you should quit your job."
He was executing his privilege as the head of the family as usual – making all the decisions for his family members.
Bella, however, was not going to compromise this time.
"I'm not going back," she said firmly.
After finishing her words, she turned her head away.
"Say it again." Mr. White jumped up abruptly from the sofa.
Bella knew how angry Mr. White was, but this time she wouldn't flinch, "I'm not going back, and I'm also not quitting my job."
She told herself desperately that she would never be defeated by her weakness.
The significance of the job was far more than itself. It was God's recognition of her decision to be independent.
She couldn't give up everything she earned.
Mrs. White walked to Bella quickly.
Then there was a loud slap sound in the living room.
Mrs. White slapped Bella relentlessly on her face.
It happened so fast that Bella had no time to response.
Her face was turned away due to the slap, with harsh red marks on her delicate and flower-like skin.
Bella gasped heavily because of the burning pain.
"Are you going to piss me your father off?", Mrs. White raised up her hand with the green diamond ring again.
The hand was about to slap on Bella's face.
"Stop it!", Edward yelled at them.
The beautiful ceramic cup in his hand was crumbed into pieces. Blood was flowing from the split palm whose owner seemed to feel no pain.
Edward was pervading?a smell?of?menace, with his sense of oppression suffocating everyone.
Influenced by the oppression, Mr. White plopped down on the sofa, with his back pressing against the backrest to keep him from falling on the floor like a puddle. It took all his strength to maintain his dignity difficultly.
Without the strong will like Mr. White's, Mrs. White had knelt down on the floor before she could cry out in alarm.
Her well-kept and delicate face contorted with pain as she hit her knees on the floor heavily.
With her mouth open, Bella fell to the floor, like a sunburned fish, breathing hard and making a holler sound in her throat.
After Edward loosened his hand, the ceramic fragments fell to the floor.
The sense of oppression in the living room vanished instantly, and the air seemed to flow freely again. Bella finally stopped convulsing.
In astonishment, Mr. White looked at Edward who was sitting on the wheelchair.
Was he really a disabled?
Living for so many years, he had never seen anything like that before. The destructive power could only come from the top Alpha.
But didn't Edward have lost his Wolf? Did the doctor make a mistake?
He denied his thought immediately.
At that night when Edward had an accident, he also rushed to the hospital. It was the most famous doctor who had won numerous prizes told them the news. Thus, there was absolutely no way to make a mistake.
After pondering for a while, he believed that the oppression must have come from the power of Wolf remaining in Edward's body. He was getting old, and if he was as young as Edward, he must have not been impinged like that much.
It was definitely not a wonderful experience for both men and women to realize that they were getting old.
Gasping heavily, Mrs. White came back to Mr. White, as if she had just finished an arduous physical work.
Both of them had ugly faces.
However, Bella's condition would only be worse than theirs. She really thought she would die here just now.
