Chapter 109: Chapter 109

Chapter 109 Love Is Fading

When Bella saw Fernando again, she couldn't help but marvel at his good looks and well-groomed appearance. She couldn't wrap her head around the fact that such a handsome and successful man like him was dating an ordinary girl like Jenny. She had read several articles about him in magazines. And from what she had gathered, he was a man who was fully devoted to his career. Unlike so many other celebrities, he was never involved in any scandals. On the contrary, several small media outlets had the audacity to question his sexual orientation.

"Hi, honey! So good to see you. This is Bella! You've seen her before, right?" Jenny trotted all the way to Fernando, took his arm, and put her head on his shoulder affectionately.

Fernando looked at Bella and flashed her a charming smile. He said with much enthusiasm, "Miss Bella, it's nice to see you again. I hope you've been keeping well since we met last time?"

"Oh, hello. Thank you so much for your concern. It's a pleasure to see you again," Bella shook his hand gently and then occupied the seat facing them.

During the entire meal, Jenny fed Fernando mango salad from time to time, and he patted her head dotingly. The two looked like a couple madly in love. Witnessing the close interaction between them first-hand, Bella dispelled her initial doubts about the validity of their relationship. It seemed like Fernando was not a wealthy man with a condescending attitude, and he didn't seem to mind whether Jenny was a suitable match for him. Her initial doubts about him were simply brought on by prejudices against the rich and mighty. Bella was genuinely happy for Jenny, she had finally found true love.

"Miss Bella, I heard from Jenny that you're going on a business trip to London?" Fernando asked casually.

Bella froze momentarily. She then looked at Jenny reproachfully, complaining to herself why Jenny had told others about her. The latter smiled sheepishly, folded her arms, and looked at Bella apologetically. She realized that she had probably said too much to her boyfriend about her colleague.

"Oh, yes. I'll be staying over there for quite a while; I think and I leave tomorrow. This will be my first time alone in another country. I hope it all goes well," Bella said calmly. She wasn't annoyed anymore.

"I've lived in London for a while and I'm fairly familiar with the surroundings. I've also made some good friends there. So, if you ever need help navigating the area, just let me know, I'd be more than happy to help. Of course, the same thing applies here. If you ever find yourself in a pickle and need help, it would be my pleasure to help you," Fernando said enthusiastically.

"Thank you, Mr. Garcia. That's very kind of you. I am flattered. But I'll be okay. I'm hoping to hang out with someone there, so it'll be all right," Bella thanked him sincerely.

"You're too kind, Bella. Please, call me Fernando in the future. You are Jenny's friend, and any friend of hers is a friend of mine. It's only right for me to help as much as I can," Fernando said, and every time he spoke, he had a faint smile on his face.

"Honey, you are so sweet!" Jenny stared at her "boyfriend" affectionately, love pouring out of her eyes.

"By the way, Jenny, I want to go to the mall to buy some gifts for Edward's aunt later, would you like to accompany me?" Bella asked her.

Jenny glanced at Fernando furtively, looked at Bella with embarrassment, and said, "Um, to tell you truth, I'm afraid I won't have time tonight. Will it be okay to go on your own or maybe tomorrow? Your scheduled flight is just before noon, so you'll have plenty of time to swing by the mall and get the gifts."

Bella smiled understandingly and nodded, she didn't want to force Jenny to come with her because she knew that the girl was enjoying Fernando's company too much to leave.

For the rest of the dinner, Bella noticed that Fernando kept peeking at her, which she thought was strange and she felt a little uncomfortable. 'He should be focusing on his girlfriend, not me,' she murmured to herself, burying her head in her food and concentrating on eating. But then, she remembered that when she and Fernando met for the first time at the company, he had mentioned that she bore a striking resemblance to his sister. Maybe that was why he kept looking at her, which was understandable in her opinion.

After the scrumptious dinner, they exchanged goodbyes and Bella took a cab home. At nine o'clock in the evening, she finally reached her house. When she stepped inside, she found Edward sitting on the sofa watching TV.

"Hey, you, I'm back! How was your day?" she asked, barely containing her excitement to see her husband after such a long day at work.

"Not bad," Edward replied indifferently, without looking at her.

Bella, sensing that Edward wasn't his usual self, sat next to him and tried to touch him but he immediately withdrew his hand.

"Edward? What's the matter? Did something bad happen?" she asked anxiously. But Edward didn't utter one word. "Edward? Hey! You can tell me anything, we're married, remember?" she said jokingly to lighten the atmosphere.

"Who did you go out to dinner with tonight?" Edward asked coldly, his dark eyes fixed on her. From the moment she entered the house, his sharp sense of smell had already picked up on Fernando's scent on her. And that instantly threw him into a bad mood, making him feel irritable, disturbed, and angry despite not wanting to.

"Why are you getting worked up? I sent you a message to tell you that I'm going to have dinner with Jenny tonight. Didn't you check your phone? Are you mad at me because of that? Come now!" Bella said bitterly.

"Sorry, Bella, I just don't like it when you're hiding stuff from me. I smell other men on you, and it makes me mad," Edward's expression was melancholic and his voice was nearly a whisper.

"Other men? Edward! At least let me explain. I went to dinner with Jenny and she brought me to a French restaurant to meet her boyfriend. But I don't feel like I have to tell you where I've been or who I've been with and what I've done despite being your wife. We can't be glued to each other all day long and we have to have our privacy!" Bella crossed her arms on her chest and tried reasoning with Edward, her beautiful face looking very serious.

"Her boyfriend? Who is it? I've never heard of her having a boyfriend before," Edward felt chills all over, and he had a bad feeling in his guts.

"Fernando Garcia, you know him too," Bella replied straightforwardly.

"What the fuck! That bastard!" Edward growled. Without saying another word, he sprang to his feet and stormed out of the room into his study, slamming the door. Shit! That son of a bitch! His plan was already in motion. He had already begun targeting people close to him. Bella! His wife! This was a common routine for wild species. It had been David before, and now it was Jenny. He knew how cunning Fernando was. One couldn't just sit around and watch everything unfold. No, he had to act quickly and be one step ahead of that bastard. He knew that Fernando wouldn't give up until he had caused irreparable damage in order to get to him.

"Edward, what on earth is going on? Why are you acting crazy and cursing so suddenly?" Bella yelled after him, but he didn't bother to explain anything, not right now at least. He wanted Jack to contact the warriors in those tribes now, and the next day, he wanted Fernando to die.
