Chapter 251: Chapter 251

[SAMANTHA’s Point of View]

“Mom? What does it say? What kind of map is that?”

I couldn’t answer Devon. He tiptoed over to look at the map, but my mind and hands froze while I stared at it. When I finally recovered, I looked down at Purple, wondering where she got the map made of black thread—the same material that was stitched on my wedding dress. How could something be hiding inside the Pack manor? Could it be that the spy was looking for this thing and was only led to my wedding dress because they had the same power of the curse in it?

I sensed that something was happening, but I still had no idea what the Black Claws were after this time.

“Mom, are you alright? You look so pale. You need sleep.” Diana whispered worriedly as she stared at me, still hugging Purple on her small chest. “We can watch for Daddy while you have some rest.”

“No,” I whispered back, folding the map and shoving it in my pocket. I felt the heavy aura of the fabric when it went near my skin. “No, Mommy’s fine. I need to be here until your dad wakes up.”

The urgency in Devon’s voice made me feel alarmed as I turned around and saw how my husband’s eyes slowly opened and stared at the ceiling. I felt my heart skip a beat as a soft gasp escaped from my lips, whispering Dominic’s name with such huge relief that he was finally awake.

“Dominic!” I called his name again, hoping he would hear me as he started to breathe hard and fast. The look of confusion on his face only meant that he didn’t remember what happened after the curse started to spread and this time, it was on his chest.

The healers informed me that the poison had weakened his heart, affecting his oxygen supply as his lungs began to fill with fluids. The silver poison mixed with the curse was lethal and if Dominic wasn’t strong enough to fight it, he would have died in just a minute.

And I was the target at that time.

“Dominic, can you hear me?”

“Dad!” Diana cried as she started to climb on her father’s bed. Devon did the same and his eyes started to redden with tears. “Dad, are you okay?”

With soft eyes, Dominic gazed at us, as if he were in pain because he couldn’t speak to his twins while wearing the oxygen mask. I smiled at him, tears streaming down my face as I caressed his dark hair and felt it between my fingers. I leaned down and kissed his forehead.

“It’s okay, my love.” The sadness in my eyes was so impossible to hide, as I bit my lower lip and did my best not to crack my voice in front of him. “The kids and I are safe. The pack is safe. I just need you to rest so you can recover fast.”

His hands searched for my hand, and I immediately held it and squeezed it gently. I saw how his eyes glistened with tears as he stared at me.

[I am so glad you’re safe.] My husband’s voice echoed in my head, making me gasp a little. The bond link remained strong, despite the curse poisoning his body.

[I am alright, my love. Don’t worry too much about me...] My fingers played with his hair while my eyes explored his handsome face. Devon and Diana remained crying beside the bed, but both of them were happy and relieved that their father had already woken up from the coma. ᴛhis chapter is ᴜpdated by novel fire.net

The four of us stayed in the infirmary until I decided to call the healers to tell them that the Alpha of the Silver Crescent Pack had already woken up.

A week after Dominic’s recovery, the healers found out that the same potion Killian had been taking could also suppress the curse from spreading through my husband’s body. So they started producing more of it, in case the Black Claws and the Shadow Werewolves would use the curse against the Gamma soldiers of the Silver Crescent.

“Are you sure you are feeling well enough to go back to your duties?”

I thought about bringing my husband his lunch that I had cooked for him that noon. When I got inside his office, I saw him and his Beta, Liam, discussing something serious about my husband being too eager to get back to his job as the Alpha when he hadn’t fully recovered yet.

Trying not to distract both of them, I placed the plates of food silently on the table across the room and pretended as if I wasn’t interested in their conversation.

“Yes, Liam. I can’t leave everything on you and the council. I mean, you know I trust you. But the council and the elders?” he raised an eyebrow at his Beta and then shrugged his shoulders. “Well, they still doubt I can solve this problem with the *ssholes outside the gates.”

“They always have the option to leave the pack, though.” Liam grinned, letting my husband see that he hated the elders and the council as much as Dominic hated them. “You know they can’t do anything because you always have the final decision about everything.”

Dominic turned his attention to me, though after he sighed, “So do you have any news about the Moonlight Mirror that the Black Claws are offering Killian? Do you have any idea where we can find it?”

"I am already working on it," I replied to my husband with a smile. It wasn’t a confident smile but rather a reassuring one, indicating that I was doing my best to research what the Black Claws were offering to the MoonStone Alpha. “If they are offering such a thing to Killian, that means they have it. I just need to know where they are hiding it so I can send men to further investigate this.”

“Are you sure Killian said he doesn’t know anything about this thing?” Liam asked, a little skeptical about the MoonStone Alpha. “He could be lying, you know. Black Claws won’t offer him something he doesn’t know.”

I frowned. Liam never liked Killian’s overstaying in Silver Crescent. No wonder he wanted Killian to be out of the gates as soon as possible.

It was surprising that Dominic was the one to defend my friend, and he looked at me, looking uncomfortable, as he did indeed try to make sense of it. He cleared his throat as he continued. “I mean, he could go back to MoonStone and leave us with this problem, but he didn’t. Killian is smart. He knows that if Silver Crescent falls into the hands of the enemies, MoonStone will be next.”

Liam fell silent after hearing his Alpha’s words, as he knew they were true. If ever Silver Crescent were destroyed by the Black Claws and the Shadow Werewolves, all the packs surrounding the Black Forest would be destroyed too.

“Are you certain it is here?”

I couldn’t tell Dominic and Killian about the map that Purple had found after the kids summoned her in the infirmary. I couldn’t tell them yet about the black thread, as I had no idea who among the Black Claws did it to my wedding dress.

“Yes,” I replied as the three of us went into a secret chamber deep within the Wolf Tomb.

Dominic looked at me as if he had so many questions to ask, but he decided to focus and lead the way through a much larger chamber where the three of us found the Moonlight Mirror standing in the middle of the room.

“Do you think that’s the thing?” Killian asked, frowning as we studied the room, waiting to see if there was a trap or anything that could trigger to destroy the whole d*mn place or the Mirror itself, but nothing. The entire location appeared completely defenseless, leading me to wonder if the Black Claws had only informed Killian about it because they were unable to get inside the Wolf Tomb.

“I think the Black Claws are just telling you about this thing because they can’t take it from here,” I whispered to Killian as we stepped inside the chamber. “I think they are trying to trick you into killing me and taking this thing from here.”

“Wow. They think I am that level of a fool?” Killain winced as he looked around the place.

I saw how Dominic looked at me with his eyebrows raised, and I almost choked from trying not to laugh.

Softly, I spoke the words that were italicized and carved on the rock table where the mirror was placed. “The script says it needs two people to activate the mirror.”

“Then let’s do it.” Dominic stepped forward towards me.

Killian stopped him midway, though, which made Dominic frown. “I don’t think so, Dominic. You are poisoned with silver, and your body hasn’t recovered yet from the curse destroying you again for the second time. Your aura is unstable, Dominic. You won’t be able to handle this.”

Dominic’s eyes turned cold as he glared at Killian, threatening the MoonStone Alpha to take his hand away from my husband’s forearm. “She is my wife, Killian. Take your hands off me, or I will cut your throat.”

“Okay, we will do this together! The three of us!” I exclaimed because I was starting to lose patience with the bickering of the two.

Dominic snarled at Killian, and Killian just rolled his eyes at my husband. I just shook my head; I couldn’t believe that they had time to fight in a situation like that.

I held both of their hands, and Killian and Dominic grimaced in disgust at having to hold hands as the three of us surrounded the Moonlight Mirror. As we all closed our eyes and concentrated our powers on our wolf spirits, the mirror illuminated and revealed a figure of a person we never knew we would ever see again.

“F*cking Richard Bennette?!” Dominic’s eyes widened in shock and rage.

Killian squinted his eyes as we all discovered Bennette holding an old cup of cursed liquid to the pups surrounding him. “He’s making an army of more cursed shadow werewolves.”

“Samantha, I need you to hide with the kids in the MoonStone Pack. I can’t let you stay in Pack Manor anymore, now that we are surrounded by enemies.”

“No way I will hide there, Dominic!” I hissed, pulling away from him. “You are not fully recovered yet, Dominic. And while we haven’t destroyed the source of the curse, that thing will remain inside you, killing you slowly!”

“She’s right, Dominic,” Killian agreed with me as he stood with his back straight. “The Pack needs Samantha’s power to stop the enemies. We need you to focus on healing first.”

Angered by Killian’s words, Dominic pushed him away and growled at the MoonStone Alpha. “I guess I have to remind you that Samantha is my wife! You don’t decide about my pack or my family! I won’t let you!”
