Chapter 246: Chapter 246
[SAMANTHA’s Point of View]
Madisson told me the dress was ready for the fitting.
My maidservant was right, though. The seamstress she talked to me about was indeed a very talented one.
It indeed looked so different and transformed into a more wonderful look. My mouth gaped as I looked at it when Madisson showed it to me while it was on a mannequin.
Devon and Diana were so curious about it as well, and they were excited to see it with me, so I allowed them into the room. Only Dominic would have to wait until the big day to see it. The dress was a heartstopper.
“This looks so magnificent, Madisson. I can’t believe you made it prettier than it already is. Please tell the seamstress how thankful I am.” I said to my maidservant with a huge smile on my face.
Maidsson looked so pleased as she smiled back at me. Her eyes radiated happiness as she lifted the fabric for me to feel it and see the intricate designs the seamstress had done to it. “It’s my pleasure to help you, your Grace. I believe the Alpha will be in tears once he sees you in this dress as you walk down the aisle.”
"If Dad doesn’t cry when he sees Mom, I will step on his feet really hard." Devon raised an eyebrow. But when he approached me, his lips pulled in a wide smile. “You are so beautiful, Mom. Don’t worry about Dad. I think his jaw will drop once he sees you in that dress.”
“Yeah,” Diana agreed as she embraced me. “I think you are the most gorgeous bride, Mom. I wish I could be as lovely as you when I grow up.”
“Much lovelier, Diana. You will be this continent’s sweetheart,” I smiled at my little daughter, and she giggled.
“I’ll kill anyone who will make you cry, though.” Devon frowned at his sister.
Diana squinted her eyes at him. “No worries about that, Devon. I’ll kill them myself.”
My eyes widened, surprised at what I heard from my twins, and then I looked at Madisson to see what her reaction was. She just giggled at me and then started taking the dress off the Mannequin so I could try it on.
It was a perfect fit.
Devon and Diana stood in front of me, speechless as they stared at me as if I were a fairy or something. I couldn’t hide the smile on my face when I saw their reaction.
“What do you think?” I asked my twins, and Devon was still speechless. Diana approached me, though, and then felt the fabric on her hand.
“You are stunning, Mom.” She smiled at me, but then there was curiosity in her eyes as she asked. “But what is this? Why are there stitched flowers on the dress? Wouldn’t they wilt before the wedding?”
“Yeah, that looks strange,” Devon finally spoke as he noticed what his sister was saying.
I waited for Madisson to answer. She swallowed nervously before she spoke.
“It’s something that came from the box,” she answered with a smile, explaining to me and the kids. “I have a feeling Mother Luna left it there to sew with the dress. The seamstress recognized the flowers right away, and she told me it was a rare kind that would only bloom when the Moon Goddess blesses the reunion of two wolf souls. She told me that these kinds of plants can only be found inside the garden of the Moon Wolf Spring. This plant is considered very precious, and many believe that the Moon Goddess herself planted it there.”
“So you mean the flower will bloom on the day of the wedding if ever the Moon Goddess approves of Mom and Dad’s wedding?” Devon asked, looking so amused at the idea.
“What if they don’t bloom, though? What’s that mean? What will happen?” Diana asked, which made the smile on me fade as well as Madisson’s.
I bent down to look into Diana’s eyes and rested my hand on her shoulder with a reassuring smile. “Everything will be okay, sweetheart. The flower buds don’t matter. What matters is that your Dad and I are doing our best to protect you and the pack.”
“But do you love Dad?” Devon, with a worried look on his little face, asked, "That’s the reason you’re going to marry him, right?" Because you love him?”
Surprised and taken aback by my son’s words, I felt my cheeks flush red and then gently answered both him and Diana, "Of course." I’m going to marry your father because I love him. There’s no other reason, okay? I love your father.”
Diana and Devon beamed at me, and the nervous look on their faces finally disappeared. I embraced them both tightly, and then Madisson continued checking on the dress to see if there was still a need to fix it before the wedding date.
While Madisson was getting snacks for the kids, I felt something weird beneath the inner lining of the dress. Something felt as if it were pricking my fingers as I ran them through it. I looked at my hand and saw beads of blood on the tips of my fingers.
“What...” I gasped as I looked down at the fabric of the skirt and saw something underneath it with my wolf eyes. It was several thin strands of black threads with a similar feeling to the residual aura of the curse, which confused me a lot.
“How did it get here?” I frowned, scared and confused, trying to remember if these things were already there years ago when I married Dominic. I tried to remember any weird feelings when I wore the dress before, but everything was too blurry. All I felt before was rage, deep sadness, and the thought of running away from the pack and Dominic.
The awful memories brought a heavy, wrenching feeling in my gut as I decided to take the wedding dress off so fast I threw it on the vanity table with a trembling heart.
“Liam told me that Madisson went to see you to try the dress.”
I turned around sharply in surprise and saw my husband already behind me with a gentle smile on his face. At first, I didn’t know what to feel, or say, or think. I was just—shocked.
“Yeah, I went with the kids,” I answered with a smile. And an awkward one, and I couldn’t understand why I was acting weird in front of my husband. I couldn’t understand why seeing that wedding dress brought back those awful feelings I had for him several years ago.
“Is there something wrong, my love? Did something happen?” he asked as soon as he noticed that I was being a little evasive toward him.
“Nothing, I flinched away from him, not wanting to be touched. Dominic frowned and tried to close the gap between us once again. Google seaʀᴄh novèlfire.net
“Samantha, tell me what’s—”
“No, Dominic, I’m sorry.” I pushed away and failed to notice that his hands were frozen mid-air, reaching for me, but I was too anxious to feel his touch against mine, and so, I had to get out before I could burst and scream things I would surely regret.
I prayed Dominic wouldn’t run after me as I went straight to the hallways while wiping my tears with the back of my hand. I didn’t know how I could explain to him these strange feelings that I should have forgotten already when I decided to forgive him for everything that happened before. But I guess it was never that easy. I still couldn’t sort out these feelings and make peace with my past self.
But it could also be because of the black threads of the wedding dress. I believed it was the source of all the negative emotions that began to corrupt my heart. But what if it’s because I still couldn’t forgive Dominic completely for what he did to me?
What if I was just scared and worried it would be a mistake?
My phone vibrated from the back pocket of my jeans, and it was Killian’s ID that popped up on the screen. I wiped my tears dry once again, hoping he was alright and not reaching out to me because of the curse that was still inside his body.
“Black Claws and Shadow werewolves are still on their way towards the western gates to destroy them. They are not giving up, Sam, until they get to kill the twins. Be careful and never take your eyes away from Devon and Diana. I am still doing patrol inside the area of Black Forest, investigating further everything that is happening in there.”
It wasn’t over. The war that my husband and I had been fighting since we moved here still wasn’t over. I took a deep breath, filling my lungs with air as I ran my hand on my forehead, and I felt as if my head was going to explode any moment. I felt so much pressure. So pressured by everything that was happening to me and my family.
I had to know about the black thread on that wedding dress, call a meeting, and tell Dominic about the danger that was waiting outside the west gates of the pack territory. I had to look for Madisson and ask her who the seamstress was.
