Chapter 245: Chapter 245
[SAMANTHA’S Point of View]
I turned around gently and stared at my husband’s handsome face. He slightly smiled at me as he locked his gaze into my eyes and then brushed his fingers on my flushed cheek. The night was cold and so quiet, and all I could hear was our heartbeats forming a rhythm that was music to my ears.
Brushing my hand on his arm, I smiled, but I couldn’t hide the sadness in my eyes. “So many things just bother my mind now,” I said to him as I sighed. “I want to believe that we finally have peace here in Silver Crescent, and Richard and Olivia Bennette will never ruin our lives again. But there is still fear in me that every time I feel happy, bad things happen next.”
He didn’t say anything. He just stared at me and then pushed the stray strands of hair away from my face. I wished I knew what he was thinking at that moment. I wanted to read what was in his mind, but I decided not to connect to it through our bond link.
Instead, I waited for him to tell me anything. He would tell me whatever was in his head and heart if he wanted to.
“I can’t promise you nothing disastrous would happen, Samantha. Because while this pack has so many enemies that want to take this land and my people, there will never be peace. But this is what I promise you, my love.” he took my hand and kissed the knuckles of my fingers gently. “I promise you I will do my best to protect you and the twins with my life. I promise I will protect our home and give the children the future and life they deserve. I promise I will love you until my very last breath, Samantha.”
His words brought my eyes to tears, and I couldn’t think of anything more but to wrap my arms around his neck and kiss my husband so deeply. When we pushed a little away from each other to breathe, he pulled the drawer of our bedside table and took something from it.
It was a little royal blue box.
My heart started to race hard in my chest.
“I know this is strange, but I want to make things right for the second time, Samantha.” Dominic smiled, and I saw how his eyes swam with so much emotion that it overwhelmed me as well. “This time, I want to make you the happiest woman on the planet. And I promise I will cherish you with every beat of my heart. I want to be with you forever, Samantha. I want you to be fully mine.”
He opened the box, and in front of me, a ring with an oval diamond shone like a night star. I gasped at the beauty of it and looked into my husband’s eyes.
“Will you marry me again, Samantha?”
My hands automatically covered my mouth; I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and hearing.
“Say yes, my love,” his eyes were pleading as he kissed the back of my hand again. I didn’t know, but I chuckled when I saw how nervous he was, and so I nodded at him several times with a huge smile on my face.
“Oh, my love...” Dominic was so happy that he kissed me so fervently, and that night ended with not just a passionate kiss but something that made us both awake until the sun almost cracked the dawn.
I love him. I love Dominic, and my heart couldn’t ignore those feelings anymore.
“We keep it and it’s still in a very pristine condition, your Grace.” Madisson smiled at me as she showed me the box where my wedding gown was. I never thought I would see it again after that disastrous wedding Dominic and I had. I never wanted to wear this same dress, but it was Lena’s gift. And I wanted her to be part of this celebration for me and my husband’s new beginning.
Madisson must have sensed that strange feeling in me, and so she smiled and said gently as she looked down at the satin fabric dotted and glinting with jasmine-colored gems and diamonds.
“Maybe we can fix it. I mean, like, make it into a different design?” Madisson suggested, as she adored the fabric with her long, candle-like fingers and traced the intricate details with it.
“You mean to modify it?” I asked, amazed at what she said, which caught my interest. “Can we do that?”
“Yes, your Grace,” she answered, pleased that I liked her suggestion. “I know a talented seamstress who can create any design you would like. Maybe I can give her a visit if you like the idea.”
“Yes, of course, Madisson, thank you!” Read full story at novel✶fire.net
My maidservant stood and handed me the wedding gown to feel it in my hands. As soon as I felt the smooth, silky fabric, my heart just felt overwhelmed with my memories of Lena. I pictured how thrilled she was during Dominic’s and my wedding. The dress was her gift for me, explaining that the fabric was made from the finest thread she selected especially for me, expressing her desire for me to be the most stunning bride of the year.
And she was right. I was the topic of the newspapers, magazines, and online articles for months.
“A Luna leads with her heart. Not just with her wolf.”
“What is it, your Grace?” Madisson asked, thinking I had said something for her to do but I just shook my head gently and smiled at her.
“It’s something that Lena told me before,” I said to Madison as I smoothed the fabric with my hand, smiling sadly as I reminisced about all the wonderful memories Lena and I had. “A Luna should be leading her people with kindness and empathy, not just ruling with power and title.”
“The Mother Luna is a wonderful person.” Madison smiled back at me, but I could tell that she, too, misses the old lady. “And everyone in Silver Crescent loves her like how she loves her people.”
“People of Silver Crescent are blessed to have a Luna like her, Madisson. And I am not sure if I can be as close as the Luna she was to her people. I still have no idea what I am doing. Since I moved here, all my focus has been on protecting my twins, and the pack was always only second to what I do as a Luna.”
“You shouldn’t feel guilty, your Grace.” Madisson gave me an understanding look as her smile faded from her face. “I saw how ferociously you protected Devon and Diana since you decided to stay here in Silver Crescent. Cynthia and I witnessed everything. How you tried your hardest to make sure the future leaders of this pack would survive the chaos happening in Silver Crescent.”
“Thank you for watching over Devon and Diana, Madisson.” I smiled at her with my teary eyes. “I can’t trust anyone for my twins apart from the two of you and Liam. I am so grateful for your patience and love for my kids.”
“Diana and Devon deserve so much more. They are kind and gentle kids.” Madisson replied as she stood from her seat and took the dress from me. “I can show you a brochure of the kind of style you want to modify the dress in, and then I can bring it to the seamstress who can work on it.”
After my little conversation with my maidservant, I went to look for Dominic and the kids. They were supposed to be in the library after he told me this morning that he wanted to show Diana and Devon something that was about his family and ancestors.
Before I reached to open the door of the library, I already heard Dominic discussing the history of his bloodline with the kids. I chuckled, imagining how bored Devon must have felt while listening to his Dad, while Diana just drew on her notebook instead of taking down notes.
I decided to just sneak inside and listen and watch the three of them as their father was busy discussing the history of the pack. And just as I expected, Devon was staring at the ceiling while balancing the pencil between his upper lip and his nose, and Diana was cutting paper dolls from the cover of the notebook where she drew.
None of them paid attention to their dad.
“I hope you learned something from what I’ve been saying here.” Dominic’s strict voice made the two sit with their backs straight against their chairs.
“Is it true about what Grandma told us, that you made Mom cry three times?” Devon asked as he raised an eyebrow at his Dad. “Why would I listen to someone who made Mom cry?”
I shook my head, trying my hardest to suppress the smile on his face. He was really like his Dad.
But to my surprise, when I looked again at the spot where Dominic was standing, he wasn’t there anymore. And instead, I felt his arms around me, lifting me, and then he forced me to look at him with his arms still around my waist. “Spying on us?”
“I am just checking how the kids are. And it’s obvious they are not interested in what you have been discussing with them.” I chuckled and then kissed him gently.
He smiled at me and then held me closer. “Does the dress still fit?”
“Yes,” I answered softly as I looked down at his lips and then back at his eyes, distracted by his handsome smile. “I just decided to make a few little changes to it to surprise you.”
“I hate surprises, but okay,” he whispered and then gave me that sexy, dark look on his face as he grinned at me. “I can’t wait for the honeymoon. Maybe baby number three?”
I thought my face burned hot as I heard what he said and then pushed him playfully, smiling and shy at the same time. “Stop it! The kids hear you!”
Diana, at the other side of the room, shouted with her hands covering her ears, “We didn’t hear anything!” She then giggled, while Devon, who was smiling, rolled his eyes at us.
Dominic couldn’t help but kiss me as I kissed him back and my heart was so filled with happiness I had never felt for a very long time.
