Chapter 238: Chapter 238

[SAMANTHA’s Point of View]

I had never felt so powerful before.

It was as if I were indestructible.

Feeling the warmth of the new power that was passed to me by the fate thread from my mom, I felt like my wolf had fully merged with me. A new form that was more like a one-hundred percent upgrade and more powerful than my former form.

I looked back and saw my wolf staring down at me with its breathtakingly gilded eyes. Her forehead had the mark of the moon, like she was a gift to me straight from the moon goddess.

I couldn’t believe what was happening.

“Mom!” Diana was the first to approach me as she embraced me tightly, and Devon followed. Everyone was so surprised by what happened that no one even spoke or moved. Diana and Devon were the first to recover from all the marvel they had witnessed as the new power transferred to me.

Never in my imagination did I expect this would happen.

But the question was, could this power be enough to destroy all the enemies of the Silver Crescent?

“So the thing that is inside the d*mn box is not the source of the curse but the power that Samantha’s mom had been hiding and protecting from the dark spirits of the forest for so many years?” Dominic murmured as his eyes admired me while my skin glowed golden from the fate thread. “Why did the guardian of the Wolf Spring tell us the source of the curse is here then?”

“Do you think someone took the source of the code and exchanged it for that box?” Killian asked, trying to figure out the situation. "If the guardian of the Moon Wolf Spring believes that this place still contains the source of the curse, then I suspect someone has taken it and replaced it with that box for Samantha to discover."

Everything Killian said made sense to me. Even Dominic was convinced about his theory that someone must have placed the source of the curse somewhere where no dark spirits could ever find it—somewhere safer than the Wolf Tomb. But where? What other place could be safer than this?

“Have you any memory that such a thing happened?”

It was my turn to ask the old guardian of the Wolf Tomb, and my voice echoed in ethereal sound, making Dominic and Killian’s attention turn to me, staring at me like I was a goddess in front of them. “Do you remember anyone who came here and took the source of the curse from this place?”

Lord Markis looked down as if confused. His translucent image suddenly looked like a static image, which made all of us frown and feel wary.

There was something wrong here. Something happened in which they managed to manipulate the old Wolf Tomb guardian. But who? Who was powerful enough to deceive Lord Markis?

Dominic felt the alarm ringing in my head, and he immediately stepped closer to me, telling me that everything would be alright and that there was nothing to worry about.

Despite that, he knew I possessed a power greater than any Alpha in this region; he still stood confidently beside me without any kind of insecurity. My power didn’t hurt his ego. Instead, he looked proud that I was his Luna and the queen of his pack.

My husband’s response to my new powers assured me that we would win this war against our enemies.

“I feel like the guardian has no idea what happened,” Killian uttered after we all waited for Lord Markis to answer, but failed to get any. “I think this is much bigger and more complicated than I ever expected. Someone powerful tried to manipulate the guardian’s mind to take the source of the curse.”

“But who would do that? And besides, why did that person have my mother’s box?” I blurted, trying to put each piece of the puzzle together. “Could it be my Mom? You think she did this and hid the source of the curse somewhere?”

“Possibly,” Killian answered. “It could be your mom, Sam. Unfortunately, we have no guide or any way to trace where she had hidden it. I am not even sure if it’s still here in this place or on this continent, Sam.”

It was a nightmare. My body went cold the second I heard those words from Killian. What if he was right? What if the source of the curse was no longer here? Where the hell are we going to find it? How are we going to find it?

The thought made me start to panic.

“Hey.” Dominic approached me with his hands on my shoulder. His eyes were sharp, but there was gentleness in them that somehow calmed me. “We will find it, you hear me? I will do my best to find the source of the curse and destroy it. I will use all my resources and try my hardest, my love. We won’t let the dark spirits have it. We won’t let them destroy these lands. We will stop them. You hear me?”

I stared at my husband and saw the determination on his face. Yes, he would do everything for me and the kids, and he wouldn’t let these dark spirits hurt his people and the pack. Because of the Jade blade, he finally recovered from the excruciating pain that the curse brought him.

He endured it for so many months for me and the twins.

“Even though we didn’t get the source, good things happened still.” Dominic smiled at me and then gestured for Diana to come to him. Diana excitedly ran towards her dad, and he carried her to his shoulders, which made our little girl giggle.

“Let’s figure this out some other time. For now, let’s head back to Silver Crescent so you and the kids can have some rest. Killian needs to get to the healers, too, and find out what kind of potion that small bottle had. They might decipher all the ingredients used there and hopefully produce more for him,” my husband added with concern in his eyes as he lifted his hand for me to take it. “Let’s go home.”

“Dominic’s right,” Killian agreed as he smiled at me despite the pain. He turned to my husband and gave him a short, gentle nod; although his smile disappeared, I could tell that he respected Dominic, and in return, Dominic nodded back at him as well. “We can’t stay any longer here. Now that you have released the power of the fate thread, you might have attracted powerful beasts around this area. They will be heading here to challenge you, thinking you are a threat to their territory.”

“Let’s go then.” Dominic made sure his daughter was safely sitting on his shoulders as he started to step down the platform. I could tell that the effect of the curse was no longer in his body, as I saw that the color on his face had come back, and he looked more focused after that miraculous thing cured him. “Liam must be worried for all of us right now.”

“Here,” I approached Killian and handed him the bottle of the cure that we had obtained from the box. “Take this with you and bring it to Brianne. Know what they used to create this. We need to know how to make this potion while we figure out where to find the source.”

“Yeah,” Killian answered as he groaned and then smiled at me, “This thing sure helps lessen the pain. Very effective.”

I didn’t know if he was being sarcastic about what he said, but I was worried. He gave my husband the only thing that could save him, and now he had to wait until we found the source of the curse to end his suffering. But as soon as we knew how to make the potion, I had the hope that Killian could make it until we destroyed the source.

“Don’t do anything reckless while you are still in pain,” I warned him.

“You are the only one who is reckless here, Samantha,” he chuckled, showing me his straight white teeth. For origınal chapters go to novel{f}ire.net

I didn’t know, but I felt something like lightness in my heart as soon as I saw that Killain wasn’t in so much pain anymore. My husband was cured, and the kids didn’t lose their wolves. I got a new power passed to me from my mother, even though we failed to destroy the thing that started all the chaos in this forest.

Despite the terrible things that happened, there was still hope for all of us.

Killian’s ears reddened, and I just decided to ignore it. Still, I couldn’t hide the smile on my face, making my husband more annoyed at the MoonStone Alpha.

“Where do you think you are going?”

All of us stopped from going down the platform when, once again, Lord Markis spoke.

“There is still something that is left in the box,” the old guardian uttered with a serious look on his face. “Something that your mother left for the twins.”
