Chapter 27: Chapter 27

"place your hand on the porch over there" he muttered in a low tone, she delayed a bit, stretched her hand with an eye close but Alex pulled her hand further to touch the porche and it sprang open. The sound it made startled her that got her feet hiding behind him while eyes could faintly discern the shape of a sword. Alex view the object that emerged out of the opened porche, he attempted to take a step forward in order to hold it but he was struggling to move, it was then he ascertain that Evelyn was holding on to his shirt and hauling him back unintentionally.

"Oops, sorry" she said having realized she was still holding on to him. Her eyes trailed on him as he touched the tip of the sword.

"What's that? I could see it's no ordinary sword" she began pinning some points as Alex pulled his gloves.

"I thought I knew it all?" Alex snapped gazing at her as she folded her lips to get an understanding of the whole scene. Perhaps she might never stop disliking him as he used her words against her.

"Not all besides I'm not some God or something" Evelyn defended raising her shoulder high not to feel intimidated through those mockery eyes of his.

"Eternal sword, you're going to stab me with it when the time comes ". Evelyn seemed pleased to hear that as she was willing to do just that if he permits right there. Although, he didn't give a vivid explanation about what it entails but her brain tells her it could lead to his destruction, if that was the case, she was damn in. Watching him suffer the way he did to her was the best punishment and as for Colton, he proved to be a friend she could roll with hence he would be given a chance to adapt to the society.

"Okay!" Was her reply, she didn't want to sounds too excited by giving a quick response. He doubt if she would ever love him with her actions so it was best to fade away. Alex glanced at her and grimaced as she was mumbling to herself, he heard her contemplating if to ask him a question or not. One thing she should always know was that Alex hate answering questions and whatever reply he gives, it was best she took it that way.

"But why do I need to do that?". Alex lowered his eyes sadden and low-spirited, he didn't give her a reply but took her palm and slice it a bit, which made her wince, she didn't have a chance to ask what was going on as he was quick, she could see his palm also bleed but he hide it away in those gloves of his. He made sure her blood poured on the sword which glits with a swishing sound. Her eyes popped wide as she stared at her palm which drooled steadily with blood as it stinked her.

"What was that?" She beckoned folding her wounded palm. Alex tore a piece of his shirt and wrapped her palm gently. Evelyn folded her palm and stared at him in the eye as he was still tending to the cut he made on her palm.

"I just took an oat right?" She mused infuriated that he made her do things without her will yet still claim right like though he owns her, well but the contract states so. Evelyn tried her best to fall in love with him, however it wasn't working, it would have been easy if Colton was in Alex's shoes. How was she going to fulfill the bet they made over Alex for her to return when this woman's heart belongs to someone else. Why does the curse have to entail a woman to break it? Who would have cursed this cruel soul in the first place?

"Being silent won't help" she barked and as he raised his eyelid to her, her lips became mute with anxiety.

"Don't relent Evelyn, promise me, that's the only way to return" he suddenly muttered tying the clothe which he woved on her palm. Does he need to say that when she couldn't wait for the day to stab him and return home. Wow it was that easy and she had been made to wait all these days spent over this place!

"Promise!" Evelyn snapped and he stared at her as her eyes could tell that she wouldn't hesitate to take the sword, he let out a sigh sharply and let go of her palm while looking at the sword which still had Evelyn's blood. He whimped and held his chest which was aching.

"You may leave" he proclaimed and she stared at the sword.

"I don't know my way out" she admitted still disturbed by the cut on her palm, Colton might have a better answer to what the oat meant but first she was going to give a try in attempting to stab him. Alex folded his palm and led the way, while he was concentrating on getting the door opened, she intended to pull the sword but it was stucked.

"What the?" She mused trying her best with the energy she had but it wouldn't come off. Quickly she left it and ran after Alex to ask him some few questions about how the sword works.

"How do I get a hold of it?" She asked concerned with keen ears but he only said;

", When the time comes".

"Jeez stop acting like a prophet, it's weird on you" she teased folding her arms as he stopped moving and glanced at her.

"Just joking, serious one" she said in between her teeth as he doesn't look like one that would give in.

"If you were a king, I'm sure you would be a tyrant with all the women at your feet serving those desires of yours" she commented pressurizing him to speak however he was walking even faster as her eyes mastered the path they took.

"You were an alpha, that's cool, now I see why your character is so domineering, self centered and hardly speaks but command what made you leave your pack behind?..." She paused and hopped faster to him while standing side by side. Acting like a curious journalist who wouldn't give up until she found the answers needed.

"What made you save me in the woods? Did you fall in love at first sight?".

Alex halted in his step as she almost bumped into him because she didn't expect him to stop perhaps that question of hers had gotten into him and he would give a reply.

"You caused it yourself running around the woods at odd hours, why do have to get into that cave and fall off the cliff at that time..." He paused realizing he giving a reply to her when he made up his mind not to say a word till she was locked back in her room but he got trapped in her questions.

"What does that hour mean?an auspicious day and I wasn't meant to be there?" She completed folding her fist as she knew she might not be the first woman to have fallen victim of Alex's prey which got her wondering where they could be.

"Dead and it might be your fate if you don't keep your questions to yourself" he petitioned suddenly and Evelyn gazed at the door in front of her, they were back to her room and she didn't notice such until he snapped his fingers for her to jerk back to reality.

"Dead?" She muttered making out the real picture why she still lived which was because she had that necklace around with her and it acted as a shield and a threat too but what was attached to that necklace? Evelyn walked pass him and opened the door while giving him the key to lock her up as it was his order to do so. Alex handed her back the key as he watched her slam the door to his face which made him smirk.

"Why a journalist this time?" He mused and she suddenly replied.

"I can hear you, please leave already, I can't sleep if you keep standing by the door". They were both standing opposite each other as only the door demarcated them. Evelyn placed an ear on the door to detect if Alex was leaving when she hears his boot move and indeed they moved but in a mild manner. She sighed a little and switched on her lights while hurrying up to bring out her jotter.

"Sword, death, soul, gloves, blood and love" she muttered as she wrote down. Evelyn thought she was going to need a camera to get evidence and this time, she was going to do every means for the captions to stay in. Her eyes waited patiently for the morning to lurk in just to see Colton and trouble him with questions.
