Chapter 25: Chapter 25

She let out a loud yawn as her finger brush the left cheek, her eyes squint trying to trace a scar or something but wasn't satisfied with the results. Her index finger brushed her moist lips as she shut her eyes open staring at the roof with a dull look.

"What just happened?" She muttered feeling her skin which had healed up. Evelyn stretched her arms tired from the stress of last night, none of these men appreciated her efforts. Nevertheless, that wasn't going to stop her from helping where she could. Having observed how bright her room looks at that moment, it looks like the sun was up. It was snowy where she found Alex and summer over here. She was mad at herself for letting him fondle her lips with his yet it got her heal. All she imagined was kissing an immortal and becoming one which was out of the picture. The mirror which was set had the corner of the room had her reflection as she sighed on sighting that her cheek was in good shape. Hurrying up downstairs, she expected to see Colton somewhere arouy to boast that she survived even if he didn't give her details of what might happen.

"Colton!" She called with a bit of anxiety in her tone and she heard something drop in a room, she raised towards there and knocked on the door but there was no response.

"I know you can hear me"

"You're alive, that's an achievement" he mocked behind her and she placed her back on the door.

"Could you inform me whenever you do that?" She beckoned almost startled and he appeared out of nowhere. He was shirtless as her eyes rested on his abs which glits and she looked back while swallowing hard.

"You're by the door" he reminded drawing close to her and she could feel a kind of sensation as his breath rested on her hair.

"Oh!" She muttered shifting a bit with folded lips and eyes that didn't want to look away. He stride inside and picked a shirt hanging in a closet as his intense face peering at her. He was relieved she wasn't hurt and must have done her tricks on Alex to get him in control. Colton didn't know why he just had a believe that this woman could handle everything besides, if she could act all brave in the ice land, then the blood moon would just be a piece of trouble.

"Glad you made it" he echoed from inside the room and she scoffed pleased with what he said while twisting her hair a finger as her eyes met with his. He had already put on a t-shirt and almost buckling up when she asked about the blood moon.

"Why don't we step out as I explain?" He beckoned and she was dumbfounded. Where they going to take a walk without her demanding for such? She was more than pleased to hear that and she nodded with a bright face. Colton might turn out not to be that bad if he acts cool to her.

Admiring the natural phenomenon outside was a pleasant sight to behold. Evelyn never thought she would step out and live amongst humans even though she was invisible but Colton didn't ouster her a they spoke about every path they took while making mockery of anyone that thinks he was insane. He suddenly felt free around her and not usually having his grumpy or stern look like he does. Every questions she asked had an answer except if he wants to eliminate some details that wasn't for her hearings and she also told him things about herself.

"Wow I want that!" She pointed at the roses in a bouquet and he grunt because he needed to return but she kept prosponing it all by bringing up new ideas and items. Colton ordered for it yet she was picky while ordering him to get the colors she needed. While he does that, Evelyn kept staring at him with a smile that she didn't notice escape her lips. Everyone might think he was speaking with a ghost, however he believes he was speaking with a person.

"This one?" He finally questioned and even if she declines, he wasn't going to get another. The gesture on his handsome face told her to accept it as he seemed like one who wasn't willing to give in to her demands again. Colton sighed loudly as she said yes, it was like he was released from her ordering. She collected it from him and inhaled it but not in front of people or else they might think he was a magician who made the bouquet vanish in thin air.

"Beautiful" she complimented while shoving her face to Colton who eyes travelled around the place.

"We've been talking about Alex, why don't you tell me about you?" She requested jumping into a new topic and Colton glanced at her.

"I don't have any tales, it's best you don't ask about me" he snapped stamping a foot on the brick ground and she saw that he wasn't a person who believes in himself but others.

"Let me guess, you were bad at everything but loyal to those you serve even when lives matters" she speculates swinging the bouquet as she saw that he had stop his foot from moving.

"I wasn't bad at everything, there's no need singing glory about oneself, it's best others does it for you" he professed and she was marvelled by what he said while gazing at him. He haven't looked at her directly since they stepped out and Evelyn felt he was avoiding eyes contact.

"I like you this way, not your grumpy self" she confessed and he stared at her unfailingly as they were both lost in each other's eyes. He blinked his eyes without saying a word as his thoughts trailed to the sky which was getting dim. Evelyn smiles faded once the thought of the night approached as she had to come in face with Alex just as it was joy in the morning and pains at night.

"It's still day" her voice chipped into his thoughts and he affirmed to that while beckoning that they needed to return.

"Before doing so, can I ask of one request?" She petitioned with a despaired look while gazed with probing eyes to what her demand could be.

Hurrying up to get back to the ward got Mrs Anna all whined as she was finding it difficult to relax, her heart cried each moment she found her daughter's pathetic condition but all she could hope for was this lady's quick recovery. Mrs Anna could feel a cool breeze swiping across her right ear even when it wasn't windy but she brushed pass it and hurried up.

"You can't see me but at feel my presence mother" Evelyn cried as she saw her mother being stressed out over the tragedy that had happened to her. She wiped her tears sadly while keeping watch over her till she was gone. Colton was behind Mrs Anna's garden when he saw Evelyn dragging her legs in agony, he rush to meet up with her but she unexpectedly hugged him while shedding her tears on him.

"I really want to go back, isn't there a way you could do that?" She petitioned and he whispered that it was only Alex they could do that. Evelyn grab a hold of herself and returned to the mansion with a heavy heart. She wasn't saying anything but just silent thst got Colton worried over why he granted that wish of her as it happened to have ruined her mood.

"I have to lock you up, it's his orders" Colton announced and she didn't respond besides, her first day here witnessed being locked up until luck shined on her that the door were opened for her.

"Thank you for today" she muttered gazing at the window and he hummed while closing the door. What troubled her now was the fact that her return was in the hands of Alex, if it were Colton, she new it was going to be easy to find a way home because he had proved to be relative and quite understandable than the boss in charge. The good scene of the day made her at ease as it was fun being around Colton even though he hardly laughed. Evelyn tip toed to the cushion and brought our a book, she had requested it during their hang out to write down facts about the happening that went on outside this mansion but what baffled her was the fact that they were in the human world and not some spiritual kind of place but how comes no one knew about this mansion of theirs? Perhaps some kind of shield was protecting it from invaders. Last night, she heard howls within the environment and had thought they were coming for her but rather it was from the woods around there.
