Chapter 21: Chapter 21

K Y L E

"Mommy?" I stood confused as a little girl of about six or seven years engulf Macy's thighs.

Macy stood there and looked very confused, first at me then the little girl with whom she embraced back.

"Mommy, how do you like my surprise?" She said with a tiny voice as she looked up to her.

"Macy..." I managed voice out, still really confused with what's happening here.

The little girl turned her focus to me and back at Macy then she walked towards me, clutching her backpack.

"Hi!" She waved at me with a smile showing me her incomplete teeth.

"Hello, what's your name, little one?" I waved back with a smile of my own.

"My name is Kylie." She said coming closer to me. "Oops.. Crystal! My mom doesn't like me telling others my other name." She further explained.

"What's your name mister?" Her delicate voice asked me but I just stared at her.

I stood observing Kylie's features. Her eyes, as blue as an ocean and her hair, strawberry blonde. Without a doubt she is a really beautiful child. I looked back at Macy who still froze on the spot.

"Kylie, how old are you?" I questioned, going down to be the same height as her, tilting my head.

"I'm..." She paused and counted her fingers. "Eight! I'm eight." She smiled showing me her fingers and I chuckled.

Eight. My head did the math and I swear my heart rate increased.

"Care to explain?" I slowly questioned but she stood still.

"I said, care to explain what's happening here?!" I yell and Macy looked like she was just jerked back to life.

"I can explain." She answered slowly like she was thinking about what to say.

"I'm waiting goddamnit!" I say with agression and she sighs.

"She's Sophie's ki-"

"Auntie!" Kylie screamed and ran to meet Sophie who was watching from the stairs.

I turned my face back to her, fury very visible in my eyes.

I took a deep breath to calm myself down, "Enough with the lies Alexis. I beg you." I said with my voice breaking.

"I'm not-"

"I only have one thing to ask you, is she...mmy.. daughter?" I asked, and my heartbeat increased almost immediately.

Alexis went quiet and started looking at the floor.

"Is she my daughter?!" I yelled with my two arms on her shoulder while shaking her.

"Yes! Yes she is Kyle!"

My hands fell off her shoulders to my side and a tear dropped out of my eyes. She's mine. That sweet angel is mine.

"Mmy daughter?" I said to myself, the emotions I felt, I can't describe it feels as though my heart is just bursting with love and joy. Pure joy.

I've got a kid.

"Kyle.." Macy's voice rang in my head and I looked at her feeling nothing but pure irritation.

"You lied to me again." I deadpanned.

"I had no other option!" She tried to defend herself but I just scoffed.

"You almost denied her as your child just now, I never knew you could be so irritating."

"Me, irritating?! Did you even consider why I lied?"

"Do you ever need a reason to lie? I'm starting to think that you're sick."

"Meaning?"

"Meaning that I think you need to see a doctor because I feel you're a compulsive liar! No normal person lies about their child that way Alexis!"

"Who are you to talk to me like that!"

"I don't even want to see your lying face! I want my daughter!"

"You want what?!"

"I can't have her around you! You'll train her to be a compulsive liar like you are, and as such, I want my daughter to live with me."

"With what right!?

"I'm her father! I have every right!"

"Get out of my house!"

The door opened again and a blonde guy came in wearing a red shirt with shorts and paused when he saw us both.

"You all should relax! I could hear your screams from the other block." He said in a bid to bring peace, but I refuse.

"I'm taking my daughter!" I firmly stated and crossed my hands.

"Get out of my house Mr Matthews!"

"Kylie! Kylie!" I called but nobody answered me.

"Kyli-"

"What are you doing?" Alexis yelled while pulling my arm to face her.

"I'm calling my daughter because I want to fucking take her home!" I yelled back at her, taking away my arm from her grasp.

"Kyle get out of my house, Now!" She pointed towards the door and I rolled my eyes.

"Why don't you come tomorrow or something? That way you'll both be calmer and talk like civilized adults." The blonde guy pitched in.

"I have nothing to say to the woman standing in front of me."

"Mark please make him leave." She told Mark with a cracked voice.

"Please just leave man. Think of your daughter, she shouldn't have to see you both like this." Mark said and even though I felt like exploding, I realized fighting with her would be pointless at this point.

"Fine! But I'll be back for my daughter." I said staring intently at her eyes before walking out and slamming the door really hard.

So what is my life turning to? If I get any more shocking news I swear I'll get a freaking heart attack.

What do I tell Penelope? Will she want to marry me after she learns this truth? Will my father forgive me if I lose this contract? What do I do now?

I sat in my car, thinking but my phone kept on vibrating, irritating me more than I was before. I answered the call.

"Sir-"

"You're fired!" I say to the phone and smash it on the ground.

I went home to think about how I was supposed to drop this news to my parents, but I wasn't able to come up with anything.

I can't hide anything from Penelope, I should tell her everything first.

Immediately I reach my house, I start the engine again and drive to Penelope's house. The house was oddly quiet.

I guess her parents weren't home, even better.

As I climb the staircase leading up to her room, I thought of how to deliver the news to her.

"Penelope, I'm sorry but I found Alexis and she has a daughter for me." I say to myself and hear how stupid I sound.

I can't believe I'm going to deliver such shocking news to her while she's in such a fragile state.

Why couldn't you just keep your shit in your pants Kyle!

"Penelope, guess what? I found Alexis and it turns out that she was Mac-"

I stopped when I heard voices. Going closer I realized that the voices were coming from Penelope's room and the two voices sound very familiar.

"What is all this Pen?!" A masculine voice thundered at Penelope.

"He doesn't know, okay?! I didn't have the guts to tell him!"

"But it's mine right?" The voice asked. That voice..

"Ye-"

I had heard enough. I opened the door and Penelope could only gape.
