Chapter 131: Chapter 131

(Kendra’s Thoughts)

Then a slight touch on my shoulder and a breathy apology is enough to get hold of the situation, “I am sorry, Kendra. Let me fix this,” is all he says. And even without looking, I know this one is definitely Dmitri’s voice, since it triggers the hatred hidden deep within my bones.

And as he passed by me, he steps up and grabs the arms of that tallest guy, “Let go, Luke, please,” he calmly says.

Then the man who fell suddenly stands up continuing his tantrums like a child, “Why are you siding with them, Dee? He punches me first, you should get mad at that bitchy Heather’s husband” then scowls at Dmitri.

But Dmitri is true to his words for the first time in his fucking life, he is trying to fix the situation. He glares at him and Luke, “I said Let go, Luke. Don’t make me say it for the third time, and you, I told you to be more careful with your words, this is my city, they know me here as a businessman, you should have thought of me more before creating a scene.

The gay one continues his scowling, but Dmitri gets it under control.

Seeing them together, standing side by side, wearing the same face finally concludes that they are indeed twins.

Dmitri isn’t gay but DeAndre is. Art is right all along, then. Then why does Avery feel so devastated if Dmitri isn’t gay and DeAndre is? Does it mean she misunderstood the whole situation?

I feel severe tension accumulating around my head. So I pull Nik back who is still tensed and oblivious about the whole situation.

I pull his sleeve as I almost feel my legs losing their balance. “Love,” I call him softly. He looks at me and quickly brings me to his arms.

“Are you okay, love?” his eyes are with deep compassion.

“Let’s just go before our night get’s even more ruined,” I beg him and squeeze his arms.

We are about to walk out from this awkward situation when Dmitri halts us, specifically Nikolai, “Nik, bro, I am really sorry about this little mishap, I–”

But even before he could state his own excuse, Nik removes his hand and punches him with his free hand. I literally drop my jaw, while DeAndre screams.

“I thought we were brothers, I thought we bonded. But you deliberately hid… you and your sister hid this very important piece of information from me. This is the very reason why I don’t ever feel welcome in your family. Now, tell your twin brother to leave me and Kendra alone. And please, leave Avery alone, too,” Nik, who is a man of few words, finally speak out his emotion.

And when I look into his eyes, he feels tremendously hurt. We endure this mess-up night, our anniversary turns out to be a disaster.

As we walk out of this place, people are looking at us, judging us with their prying eyes as a husband who’s cheating on his wife with his beautiful mistress in a night.

Well what can I do? I signed up for this, didn’t I? And Nik loves me, that’s all that matters to me.

“Do you want me to stay with you for a little longer, love?” he asks while we are on our way back to Seattle.

I simply shake my head and smile at him, “No need, just be with your kids, I am sure they are excitedly waiting for you,” I lie. Despite the fact I want more from him, I clearly understand our situation.

He grabs and hold my hand, “I love you, Kendra. I hope you know that,” he suddenly confesses his feelings outloud while holding my hands tight.

“How about you? Will you be okay?” I ask him. And he nods at me.

As we arrive the apartment building, he insists on at least walking me back to my apartment unit, so I finally agreed.

He wraps his hand around me as we go to the elevator. Once we are in front of my apartment, he hugs me so tight, “I love you, Kendra Higgins. I will only love you,” he exclaims.

Then he presses his lips against mine, forcing me to open mine, and I accept him. I let himenjoy my lips as we closes the night.

He pushes me and pins me to the wall and his kiss becomes more aggressive. I cling to his neck and invite him even more.

Our tongue intertwine and play with each other. And as we parted, we are panting, his eyes are just fixated on me, and my eyes to him.

“I love you, Nikolai Murrow. No matter what, I will still choose you, married or not, I will still be with you,” my mouth speaks the abundance of my feelings.

“Love, about earlier, I am sorry if he called you a mistress. Not even a second will I think of you that way. You are my one true love, you are the only woman for me, please believe me,” his eyes look worried. He is hurt.

I touch his face and lift his head, “Love, I know. And I am willing to wait, don’t bother yourself with it.”

“Soon, you will be called Kendra Higgins Murrow. For now, please hold on to that promise. I will make that promise come true,” and then he kisses me on my forehead.

“I will. And, you should go now,” I told him.

And he still looks at me as if he want to say something, so I take the initiative to ask, “Love, is there anything you want to say?”

“About earlier. DeAndre, Dmitri’s gay twin brother. Don’t you think Avery has to know?” he asks firmly.

I pretend not to catch his question, “What do you mean? What do you know?”

“Come on, love. Why did you think Avery acted like that? Probably she saw something she shouldn’t and concluded that Dmitri, is the gay one. Yet, he didn’t know the existence of DeAndre,” he hits right on the spot.

But my heart retaliates with what he says. I am determined to hold that secret until the day I die.

So I didn’t answer him, instead, I clench my fists and just look away.

“Love, Avery has to know. She needs to know the truth, so she can decide what she really wants and who she really wants to be with,” his argument gets stronger.

“Would you like to see her continuously fall apart?” he says.

But my thoughts and my heart are saying no to his reason, “Dmitri hurt her. Dmitri was the reason why she’s an orphan. Dmitri hurt her multiple times. He doesn’t deserve her pure love. He doesn’t.”

“Think of me, love. I married a woman I didn’t love, and now, not only I but you are suffering, too. Don’t let her make the same mistake I did,” he sadly closes with his argument.

“No, she must not know,” I say.

And another voice we didn’t see coming speak up, “She must not know! Avery must not know about that,” says Jeff with his eyes crying out, and who appears to be listening to our conversation the whole time.

He kneels down in front us and breaks down, “Please, just this once. Side with me. This is a favor of a lifetime. Please, let me marry, Avery. And I promise to love her forever, even more than my own life.”

And Nik and I look at each other unsure of what to respond to a man begging for his chance of a lifetime.
