Chapter 18: Chapter 18
"Stop it!" Sebastian said. Cassandra didn't stop and kept hitting him. He sighed and grabbed her hand to his mate from punching him repeatedly. "Enough, love," he added sternly. She frowned and rolled her eyes at him. She couldn't believe Sebastian brought her to an unknown island.
"I should have made you brought a map," Cassandra sarcastically said.
"What?" Sebastian asked. Cassandra ignored him and rolled her eyes again. After Sebastian rented the boat; they went out of Academia. Students were prohibited from going out after the incident but knowing Sebastian was the crown vampire prince, and they quickly let him go. The speed boat they rented got damaged, and now they were stranded on the island.
"Did you bring your cellphone with you?" Cassandra asked. Sebastian looked at her and shook his head. She groaned at the thought that they were stuck on the island.
"I'm stuck with my mate!" her wolf said and giggled. "Love," Sebastian called and held her hand.
"Huh?" Cassandra said and stared. He chuckled and flicked her on the forehead. "Ouch! What the hell?" she said and glared at him while rubbing her forehead.
"You didn't listen to me," Sebastian said. Cassandra pouted her lips. "I said, I saw a small cabin ahead. Let's go," he added. She couldn't help but smile because even though Sebastian was sweating, he was still gorgeous.
"That's great!" Cassandra happily said. She wished there are persons on this island that could help them. She grabbed Sebastian's hand but suddenly stopped, which made her confused.
"What's your problem?" Cassandra asked and stomped her feet. "You're going in the wrong way, love," Sebastian said and grinned.
Cassandra could feel the warmth of the blush as it crawled up her neck because of shame.
"That's what you get because you kept pulling our mate," Cassandra's wolf said.
"Shut up, Christine!" Cassandra replied, still blushing.
"Lead the way," Cassandra said quietly. Sebastian laughed, which made her frowned, and pinched him on the shoulder. He's still grinning like a Cheshire cat and puts his arm on Cassandra's shoulder. They resumed walking to where the cabin is.
After ten minutes of walking, they arrived in front of a small cabin. Sebastian removed his hand and knocked on the door.
"Hello? Anybody here?" Sebastian said. Cassandra hugged herself when the cold wind blew; she snuggled close to Sebastian for warmth.
"Please, don't be a ghost. I could fight anything but not a ghost," Cassandra silently prayed. She breathed deeply and grabbed Sebastian's shirt when the door slowly creaked open.
"What do you want?" the older woman said. Cassandra breathed a sigh of relief, thanking the Moon Goddess that the woman in front was not a ghost.
"My girlfriend and I were lost, and our speed boat was damaged. Can we stay here until we can find help?" Sebastian asked. The older woman glanced at Cassandra and smiled. She politely smiled back and held Sebastian's hand.
"Come in," the older woman said. Sebastian and Cassandra went inside and sat on the wooden chair. The cabin was neat and clean. Things were hanging on the wall. The older woman went back, holding two cups in her hands.
"Drink this coffee first," she offered. Sebastian took it from her hand and handed the other cup to his mate.
"Thank you very much," Sebastian said with a smile.
"It's nothing. Where did the two of you come from?" the older woman said. The two looked into each other's eyes.
"We came from Academia," Sebastian answered.
"Is that so? Can I know your names?" the older woman asked. Sebastian smiled and put the cup down.
"I'm Sebastian Blood and this is my lover, Cassandra Reese," Sebastian introduced. The older woman looked surprised at she suddenly smiled.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Helena," she said. They started talking while waiting.
In a dark room, a man sat on the high chair holding a glass, "Did you already have her?" the Lord asked while drinking fresh blood.
"Yes, sire," the man replied.
"Bring me the seer," the Lord ordered. Three men went inside, bringing a girl with them. The Lord shakes his glass and devilishly smiled. The men released the girl, and she fell face-first on the ground. The Lord stood up and yanked her hair. The girl screamed in pain.
"Tell me, seer. What did you see in the future?" the Lord asked.
"You. Dead and gone," the seer bravely replied. The Lord's devilish smile vanished, not liking what the seer answered to him. He slapped the girl and pulled her again. The Lord glanced at Hecatos, and coldly spoke.
"Kill her,"
"You will never win! Remember that!" the seer yelled. "The evil ones will never win against goodness. Someone will end you. Someone from Academia will end your worthless life!" she added. The Lord glared at her. He nodded his head, and a man harshly grabbed the girl's arm, making her stand up.
"Who? Who is it?" the Lord asked. The seer smiled but never answered. Annoyed, the Lord pushed her away.
"Kill her and throw her corpse back in Academia," the Lord ordered. "We will make them see that I am the strongest and no one will defeat me," he added and laughed evilly. Hecatos smiled and bowed his head.
"Yes, sire," Hecatos replied. The seer closed her eyes while the sword was being slowly plunged into her heart.
"Till we meet again, Queen," she whispered in the air before dying.
Cassandra enjoyed talking to Helena. Helena is a vampire, and she decided to settle down on the island far from the people's reach. Helena told them to call her Nana. Sebastian and Cassandra told her about their case, being mates despite belonging to a different race.
"Nana, are you okay?" Cassandra asked, seeing she was surprised. Helena looked at her and held her hand.
"I'm fine, Cassandra. I bet you're tired now. I already prepared the rooms you will sleep in," Helena said. Cassandra glanced at Sebastian, and they both followed Helena.
"You can fix your boat tomorrow, Sebastian," Helena said after bringing the two to their rooms. Sebastian nodded his head and thanked her. Helena left the two and went to her own room.
"Good night," Cassandra and Sebastian both said at the same time that made them laughed. "Don't lock your door, okay?" Sebastian said. Cassandra raised her eyebrows at him. "Why?" Cassandra asked, confused.
"Don't ask, love, and just follow me," Sebastian said while smiling. He went inside so was Cassandra. She lay on the small bed and closed her eyes when suddenly the space beside her dipped. Cassandra felt goosebumps and hugged the pillow tight.
"Love?" Sebastian called. Cassandra touched her chest; her heart was beating faster.
"Asshole! You scared me!" Cassandra whispered, yelled. Sebastian shrugged his shoulders and pulled her close to him.
"Why are you here? What if Nana Helena gets mad?" Cassandra asked her mate.
"I can't sleep without you," Sebastian said. "I can explain it to Nana tomorrow when she asks," he added. Cassandra couldn't help but smile because she couldn't sleep without him by her side as well. She closed her eyes once again and drifted to a deep slumber.
Cassandra heard the birds chirping. The slight ray of the sun hit her face. She slowly sat up and rubbed her bleary eyes. She touched the space beside her and felt nothing. Sebastian was not on her side. She got out of bed and went to the living room. Cassandra saw Helena sitting while doing something.
"Good morning, Nana. Did you see Sebastian?" Cassandra asked and sat on the chair in front of her. Helena smiled.
"Good morning too," Helena said. "Yes, I saw him. He's in the sea, fixing the speed boat. He's going back," she added. Suddenly, Cassandra's stomach grumbled. She shyly looked at Helena and smiled.
"You looked hungry. I prepared foods for us," Helena said. They went to the small kitchen and handed her a plate with three fried chicken and rice pieces. Cassandra thanked her and started eating. Sebastian went inside, topless. She stopped eating and stared at him.
"Your lover will melt," Helena whispered jokingly. Cassandra blushed and avoided her gaze. She heard Sebastian laughed.
"Did you fixed it?" Helena asked Sebastian.
"Yes, Nana. Thank you for letting me use your tools," Sebastian said and sat beside Cassandra. Helena glanced around; she seemed afraid of something or someone. Cassandra's forehead creased.
"Nana, are you alright?" Cassandra asked. Helena looked at her and shook her head; she stood up and gripped her worn-out dress tightly.
"You should leave. Now!" Helena yelled loudly. "Nana, what is happening to you?" Sabastian asked.
"Leave! Leave this house instantly!" Helena said and pushed the two. "Go and leave using the back door," she added.
"Nana! We are not going if you won't tell us what's happening to you right now!" Cassandra yelled back. Helena looked petrified. After years of hiding, they finally found her.
"They're here!" Helena muttered.
"Whose here!?" Cassandra asked and held Helena's arm.
"Ikrur's loyal armies," Helena said. Sebastian's expression darkened. He grabbed Cassandra's hand and ran through the cabin's back door while Helena was following behind. They heard pounding sounds, and the front door broke. A hideous creature entered.
"Trolls and ghouls," Sebastian said. They hurriedly opened the back door and went out of the cabin. Helena suddenly stopped in her tracks.
"Nana! What are you doing?" Cassandra asked. "We need to get away from here!" she added, panicking. Helena shook her head and sadly smiled.
"Go, Cassandra. It's my time to meet my mate," Helena said. Cassandra could feel the tears started streaming down her face. "I'll hold them off. Be safe, child," she added. Sebastian dragged Cassandra away, but she was struggling, wanting to take the older woman with them.
"What are you doing, Blood!? Let me go!" Cassandra yelled. "I want to go back to Nana!" she added while sobbing. Sebastian tightly hugged his mate.
"Please, let's go back and save her," Cassandra begged, but Sebastian shook his head and carried her to the boat. She couldn't see the cabin. Sebastian started the speed boat and drove away from the island.
"I'm sorry," Sebastian said and clenched his hand. He may be a wielder of powers, but there's a restriction. Cassandra hugged her knees while crying hard. She could feel her heart broke. She wanted to go back to the cabin, but the truth dawned on her. They couldn't handle those creatures with just the two of them.
After a two and a half ride, Cassandra could already see Academia in view. Sebastian helped her down and handed something to the man who welcomes them. They went inside and saw the students gathered around. She immediately saw Lisanna waving her hand at her.
"Where have you two been?" Lisanna asked.
"I will tell it to you later. What happened in here?" Cassandra asked.
"They saw a corpse hanging outside the walls of Academia," Lisanna sadly said. Cassandra went to the bulletin board. She got through the swarm of people and saw a picture.
"She was murdered Cassy," Lisanna said. Cassandra could feel her knees weakened, and she fell to the ground.
"Cassandra!" Sebastian shouted. Cassandra started crying again; she was clutching her chest. She was about to burst into pain. Cassandra felt numb.
"Love! Love, please look at me," Sebastian begged. Cassandra couldn't breathe properly, and her tears kept pouring. She stared at her mate, and everything around her went black.
