Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Chapter 12

Vladimir’s POV

I still had tears in my eyes when the place changed. This time I was standing in front of a church. I had memories of growing up as a human and I remember praying the Lord’s prayer yet I never learned how to pray on my own.

The old me stood there for a minute until I walked to the side of the church, where I found myself entering a gift shop, though I wasn’t able to enter because of the strong force that’s keeping me outside.

“I mean no harm,” The old me said to a young lady. “I just want to ask something, to know something. People talk, their stories lead me to you, you must be Mira.”

“What does a Fear need in me?”

"I need ingredients and spells to summon an angel."

Summon an angel, I summoned an angel?

I haven’t seen how, but the next picture told me that I did summon an angel.

I was standing in front of the church when she appeared. She was standing next to me but she stopped glowing like the first time I saw her, and a dark line started to appear on her hand. She was saying something, they were talking with pain in their eyes, slowly I remembered each line.

I remembered what they were talking about.

“Would you like me to break the Sacred rule?” Cassy mouthed.

“What’s the Sacred rule?”

The Sacred Rule. She’s now a fallen angel.

“You can’t just break it,” The angel said. He was wearing a mini glass hour just like Cassy but the sand inside is not going down, it’s going up. “You know what will happen if you break the Sacred Rule. You are not just an angel in heaven! ” The angel stared at me and went back to Cassy. “You hold an important power in heaven. You just can’t. He’s not even a human! He’s a vampire! He needs to die!”

"No please, Uriel!" Cassy begged. “Just let me handle this, please. Just let me— “

“No, I can’t let you do that. I can’t let that vampire, an evil creature have you! He’s not even worthy! ” As soon as he said that a chain appeared in Cassy’s hand.

She wasn’t able to move because of how shocked she was, until the angel opened his wings.

I instantly felt the old Van’s pain. It was my own pain crawling back to me again as I closed my eyes. There ... it became part of me as I embraced the memories.

It was too late for me to turn away and close my eyes. His light touched my eyes and I felt pain.

It was only then when Cassy shouted that I realized my left eye was already burning. I can no longer see a thing. My reflex told me to run when the angel flashed an arrow towards my side but I can’t just move my feet, so I close my eyes. There’s no point in running, though I never felt the arrow, I just heard her scream.

“Cassy, what—“ Before I could even continue, I felt her wings around me and in an instant I found us on a rooftop. My eyes are still burning like hell, I couldn’t open my left eye, the light made me blind.

“I’m sorry,” I heard her. It was only when I smelled the blood that I realized that she had caught the arrow and her left wing was bleeding. I tried hard to open my eyes but I just can’t.

“I’m sorry, this is all wrong. This shouldn’t have happened, ”she said.

“No, it’s okay. I’m fine - “

“I’m really sorry. I need to make it right. I need to do this. Sorry, but you need to forget me.”

"No!" I shouted. “Please, I’m fine. I can still use my right eye and I can still find— “

“No please, please Chival,” she said my name like it will be the last time I would be able to hear it from her. "Please," she started crying. Her tears were so pure that it made heaven even cry.

I somehow felt my eyes stop from burning but I could no longer see anything with my left eye.

“I need to make things right. I need to bear the consequences and I don’t want you to be part of it, so please forget me ... ” She held both my shoulders. "Look at me."

I did even though she’s blurry.

I don't know how she did it. As far as I knew after a few seconds my vision gradually brightened. I saw her, she was in front of me. I felt the rain drops falling on my skin, it’s a heavy rain but I was the only one getting wet.

She was kneeling in front of me, staring at me, with her wings covered with blood, and her cheeks filled with her tears. It was like she had a barrier in her because she couldn’t get wet by the rain or maybe because she was the reason why heaven is crying.

"How did you do that?" I said. “If you can do that, please heal your wings,” I held her.

My hands, my power, can actually heal someone but it’s not working on her.

"No, it can't be healed," he shook his head and took my hand. "I'm sorry, Chival but I need you to forget me, to forget everything about me."

“What do you mean? What are you going to do? ” I was scared when she suddenly shone.

“One, four, three, one four three,” she smiled at me, the purest smile I have ever seen. “It wasn’t actually I love you when I first told you that. It’s the number of memories I have collected since I was given this job.”

“I am the Angel of Memories, and I was always bound to be with the Angel of Reincarnation, because if we parted ways the afterlife will be in chaos. And it is in chaos now because of me.”

“It’s a long story you wouldn’t even remember,” she sighed. "Please, forget about me." She stared at my eyes.

“I gave you my grace, your left eye holds my grace. The person who will stare at your eyes will see his/her destination, ”I couldn't move when he suddenly hugged me and she whispered,“ I promise to come back and redeem my grace. I will be back after one hundred and forty three years.”

“No, you don’t ...” I tried hard to move and to stop her, but she had a power that I can’t even fight. I cried, I cried. I felt the warmth of my tears down to my cheeks that even the cold of the rain made me numb.

“I promise, I promise to come back and maybe, maybe after that we could be happy again. Maybe we could make it work, but now we couldn’t, not with my current state. ” She hugged me, so tight that it hurt. "See you soon."

She stared at my eyes and then she disappeared leaving the words, "One, four, three."

When the rain stopped, I lost everything.
