Chapter 9: Chapter 9

CHAPTER 9: MISSING HER GRANDMA

Leonard is walking back and forth in his office. He was thinking ways about how will he approaches his wife. He wanted to invite her to come to the house of his grandfather.

However, his secretary wondered why his boss was so anxious. It was the first time she saw his boss being like this, but she just ignored it, and she slowly reaches it to ask about the food she was holding. "Sir, here is the food you requested. Will I prepare it already?" She raises her hands to show him the food she was carrying for him.

When he heard of what his secretary said, he paused for walking and turned to her. "Yes, please," he said.

His secretary immediately prepared the food on an empty table located on the side of her desk. Then she informs him again that the food she was preparing was ready. "Sir, the food is ready. You may eat now."

"Thank you, Lalaine," he answered her and sit down to eat.

His secretary smiled at him for his compliment to her and responded, "You are welcome, sir," Then she goes back to her post to continue what she was doing.

Leonard looked at the prepared food one by one before tasting it.

At last, he will be able to eat and fill his empty stomach. As he slowly put the food into his mouth, he indulges its delicious taste first while chewing, and then he slowly swallowed it. Finally, his hunger was satisfied.

I went back to the room to call my husband to eat. But he is no longer in the room. I thought that maybe he had already left to work without letting us know.

I knew that my husband had not eaten yet, so I thought of bringing food for him but realized that we are not on good terms. "Hmph, he will take care of it because maybe if I am kind enough to bring him food, he will be even angrier with me, and he will think again that I grabbed his attention?" I said to myself.

I thought of something to be busy with, and the first thing that came to my mind was to arrange my things. I took my luggage that I already placed on the side of the closet owned by my husband, and then I pulled it beside our bed.

I sat on our bed and gently opened my luggage. I took out what was inside one by one to put it in my husband's closet when I remembered that my husband does not want his belongings to be touched. "Huuhh," I sighed. "It was so hard," I said. "If my husband does not want his belongings to be touched, where can I put my things? But wait, I am his wife, so that is mean that I also have rights here, so why am I afraid to put my things here in his closet? But he is scary! Oh my, think I am going crazy here." I said to myself.

As I wondered what to do, Ethan came to my mind. I thought of asking him a favor, but I was ashamed to ask because I do not want him thinking that I was abusing his kindness.

So, I decided to dare to ask permission from my husband tonight if he would be willing to let me put my things in his closet.

I return my belongings to my luggage and then took out my cellphone and sat on the bed.

As I was scrolling pictures on my phone, I remembered my grandmother, who had just come home from the hospital. I thought of calling her to say hello.

I searched for the name of Ms. Belinda in her contact list, and when I saw it, I immediately clicked on it.

"Ring, ring, ring…!" the phone rang.

"Hello?" the woman in the other line answered.

"Hi, Ms. Belinda," I greeted her.

"Oh, Alyssa, how are you? Do you want to talk to your grandmother?" she asked me.

"Yes, please," I pleaded.

"Okay, for a while, I will go to the living room first."

"Thanks, Ms. Belinda," I thanked her.

While Ms. Belinda was walking towards the living room, I could hear the sound of her footsteps and even when she called my grandma. "Mrs. Amalia, Alyssa called you." Ms. Belinda said to my grandma.

"What, Alyssa was on the line?" my grandma asked Ms. Belinda.

"Yes, she is," Ms. Belinda answered.

Then my grandma hurriedly answers the phone.

"Hello, Alyssa, is that you?" my grandma asked me with a trembling voice due to old age.

"Yes, grandma, it is me," I answered while forcing myself not to shed tears because I miss her so much.

"Where are you? Why did not you come home? What are you up to now? Do not you know that I'm worried about you? Are you hiding something?" my grandma asked.

I suddenly feel guilty about my grandma's questions because I did not know how to answer them. I knew that I was hiding something from her, and I did not know how to explain it.

"Do not you worry, grandma; I will visit you soon. Please, give me some time, and anyway, I have to go, grandma, bye," I answered vaguely and then quickly cut off my call to my grandma and sobbed holding, my cellphone while sitting on the bed.

I want to hug my grandmother and tell her that I am already married, but I do not know where to start and explain everything. So, I just went through it all crying because the truth was, my grandmother was the only person I can lean on before and my confidant. I was so sad that for the first time, I kept a secret from her.

As I cried in the bed, I did not realize that it was noon already if Ethan had not gone to our room.

"Tok, tok, tok...," he knocks on the door.

I quickly wiped away my tears and opened the door. When I opened the door, I saw Ethan in front of me, smiling at me. I hurriedly asked him, "Does anything you want?"

"Hmmm, I want to invite you for lunch because you did not come out of the room, so I was worried," Ethan responded to me while his right hand was at the back of his head as if it were an indication that he was ashamed of me.

"Oh, sorry, I did not notice the time," I answered.

"So, would you like to eat?" Ethan asked me again.

"Sure, let us go," I said.

I was forced out of the room to go with Ethan to the kitchen for lunch. However, all I want is to confine in the bedroom.
