Chapter 44: Chapter 44

Chapter 44: THE TRUTH JAMES FOUND OUT

They transferred Alyssa to the V.I. P room. She still sounded asleep as Leonard sat next to Alyssa, waiting for her to wake up. Ethan went home to get dressed and rest at the same time.

About a few minutes later, James entered the room. He approached Leonard. “Leonard, your grandpa, and aunt are here should I let them in?” he asked Leonard.

“No, the noise might awake Alyssa. I’ll just go outside. Please, watch her for me. I’ll just come out.” Leonard begged. James nodded to Leonard. Then Leonard went outside the room.

James took place the seat where Leonard sat earlier. He looked at the woman who was his best friend claimed as his wife. When his eyes suddenly widened at what he saw.

It was the girl he saw from the road soaking wet in the rain five months ago. The woman he fell in love at first sight with and the woman he can’t forget. ‘No, this can’t be. I think I’m just imagining.’ He said to himself, slapping both cheeks. But it didn’t work. The girl’s face from five months ago is still the one that appears in front of him. He rubbed his eyes so hard just to back to his senses. It was still the girl, what he sees.

It suddenly depressed James about what he found out, and he felt guilty about his best friend. He did not expect that the woman he dreamed of since five months ago, until now, was Leonard’s wife.

“Oh, God!” he uttered as he covered his lips with what he discovered today.

—Outside Alyssa’s Room—

When Leonard came out of Alyssa’s room, his grandfather and aunt, who were waiting for him, appeared in front of him.

“Leonard, my grandson. How is Alyssa, the baby? How are they?” successive questions of his grandfather.

Leonard didn’t answer. Instead, his tears flow down heavily in his eyes, as if telling his grandfather that he wanted sympathy and a hug at these times. There seemed to be a connection that his grandfather easily understood the meaning of shedding his tears. He approached him and hugged the grandson, who was sobbing in tears.

“It’s okay, child, pour out all the pain you feel. I am always by your side.” said his grandfather, as he patted the back of the crying him. Leonard sobbed even more and responded to his grandfather’s hug.

Leonard’s aunt just looked at them, hugging each other. It was as if it was out of place, so it just left without letting them know as if it was envious.

Leonard’s tears were gone, and the heavy chest he felt earlier was lightening already, so he let go of his grandfather’s embrace, and so did his grandfather. “What happened, tell me?” Master Guang asked, concerned.

“Grandpa, our baby was gone, and we can’t see him anymore,” Leonard said to his grandpa. It hurt his grandfather about what happened. It showed it in his face. He was also expecting the baby to be born. He was excited about his future grandson but in an instant, what he expected will never happen, but even though it hurts and wanted to cry, he didn’t show it to Leonard because he didn’t want his grandson to see that he was weak.

Master Guang worried it might make Leonard even sadder. “These are all just a test, my dear, grandson. I hope you do not despair. Time will come when everything is going to be okay and will bless with another angel again. Maybe he’s not for us, but as long as you stick to each other and never give up, there is always still hope. Don’t forget that.” Master Guang advised Leonard.

It enlightened Leonard of what his grandfather said and his hope revives again, so he answered his grandfather with a nod as a sign that he agrees with what his grandfather had said. His grandpa felt at ease seeing his grandson was back on track again. Now that Master Guang is sure that Leonard has calmed down, he thought of saying goodbye to Leonard, so that Leonard could watch over his wife.

His grandfather turned behind him. His forehead furrowed when he found out that his daughter, Jing (Leonard’s aunt), was gone. “Where did your aunt go?” his grandfather asked.

“Let her grandpa, maybe she just went to the bathroom, and she shouldn’t be here because I have something to ask for you.” He said.

“Tell me, grandson, what is it? I’m willing to grant your request.” Master Guang responded.

“Please help me get evidence of what happened in Alyssa’s accident. Based on her test report, the officer said the car intentionally bumped it and I wanted to know immediately who the culprit was. I don’t let anyone who did this to her get out of it!” Leonard said furiously.

His grandpa put his hand to his right shoulder and tapped it. “Don’t you worry, my grandson, as you wish?”

“Thanks, grandpa,” he responded to him.

“Hmm, I think I need to leave now. I still have to take care of your request to me.” Master Guang informed Leonard.

“I’ll accompany you outside, grandpa,” Leonard offers.

“Don’t bother, my grandson, don’t you worry. I have bodyguards with me. They’re just in the corner, hiding as they are watching me. Your top priority today is to take care of Alyssa for now.” Master Guang said.

“By the way, how about the company, grandpa? Who would take care of it, if I wasn’t there? You know Ethan doesn’t want to step his foot in there and I can’t force him either.” Leonard asked, worried.

“Don’t bother by the company first. I’ll let Ru (Eldest son of Jing, the aunt of Leonard) manage it in the meantime. He will take care of it.” Master Guang said. “Ru? Why him? Does aunt poison your brain? You know how aunt move, that even her brother she betrayed him out of envy and even the company you work for in your whole life, she almost sold it and connived to the enemy.” Leonard responded to his grandfather, furiously.

“My son, will you listen to me first, before you react? The reason I allowed your auntie’s son is because I’m just trying to see if she has changed. Don’t worry; I’ve been here in this world for so long. I already know the games in this industry and I’m not easily manipulated by anyone. Please trust me, okay?” Master Guang said.

Leonard no longer objected to his grandfather’s decision because he believed in it and just nodded.
