Chapter 42: THE ACCIDENT

Everything is ready for the baby shower. They held it in one of the most famous hotels in their city. Leonard’s aunt went to the hotel first. She is the one who prepares everything at Master Guang’s command.

Ethan and Alyssa are also getting ready for the party while Leonard could not accompany her because he is stuck on the paper works in the office. They already talked with each other that Alyssa will go to the hotel first, to be accompanied by Ethan.

Ethan was in the living room standing as he watches Alyssa slowly descend the stairs wearing a powder blue sleeveless knee-length maternity dress. Her beauty suddenly stunned him.

Alyssa wonders why Ethan’s eyes didn’t blink at all while staring at her, so she waved her hand unto his face. “Hey, are you okay?” she asked.

Ethan was back to himself. “Oh, sorry, I’m okay,” he responded. “So, can we go now?” he added.

“Okay,” Alyssa responded as she smiles at him.

Ethan stretches his hand, offering Alyssa to hold hers while his other hand was on his back. Alyssa smiled at Ethan and surrenders her right hand to him, smiling. They walk out of the house together.

When they were out of the house, one of Leonard’s bodyguards escorted them to make sure they reached the hotel safely.

Immediately, they hop into one of Leonard’s cars. This time they have a driver, so there’s no reason Ethan would drive Alyssa. They both sat in the back seat.

Alyssa is excited that her hands shivering. Ethan noticed it, so he holds Alyssa’s hands. “You’re so cold. Are you okay?” he asked, concerned.

Alyssa slightly smiles, “I’m okay, and I’m just excited and a little nervous.”

“Oh, you don’t have to; it’s just a baby shower. You don’t have to be nervous at all. Just act calmly okay? Take a deep breath.” Ethan said.

“Okay, I’ll follow your advice.” She responded.

“That’s good,” Ethan said.

About a few minutes, they arrived at the hotel. The guests greeted them immediately. Many congratulated Alyssa on her pregnancy. “I’ll just go to the comfort room. You wait here, okay? I’ll be back in a minute.” Ethan instructed her.

“Okay, I will don’t you worry, I won’t disappear.” She jokingly said to Ethan.

Ethan immediately walks away from her to find the nearest comfort room in the hotel. Alyssa was busy entertaining the guest when her phone rang. “Just wait for a second, ma’am. I’ll just answer a call.” She said to the talking guest.

“It’s okay, just take your time,” said the guests, smiling at her.

She picked up her cellphone that was in her bag and looked at who had called her. It did not register the number on her cellphone. She thought maybe it was Ms. Belinda and maybe its purpose is important, so she answered the call without hesitation.

“Hello?”

“I know your husband’s secret so if you don’t want me to ruin your party, meet me at the parking lot.” Command on the person she was talking to on the phone. She is not familiar with the person, so she asked. “Who’s this, and how do you know my number? How will I know that you’re telling the truth?”

“You only have two options, positively meet me here and then I’ll tell you, after that, I won’t bother but if you won’t follow my order then your it's your fault if your husband will suffer the consequences that I’ll expose him here in the party! You choose, you have 5 minutes to decide.” The person on the other line said, at once dropping the call.

“Hello, hello!!!”

Alyssa was nervous! She asked herself, ‘What if what it said was true? What will happen to her husband’s most cherished reputation?' She had to do something for him, so she thought of a way and she must face the person she was talking to.

Alyssa hurried to the parking lot. She was sweating profusely as she walks, while her heart pounding so fast. Alyssa no longer looked behind her. She has no time for it when she did not realize that someone started the car on her back. She heard the screeching sound of the car, so she turned to see it.

As she turned her body, it was already near in front of her. It has not given her a chance to get away from it. She could no longer move her body, so she just closes her eyes. “Bang…!!!”

A car ran Alyssa over. It immediately runs away from her. It left her mercilessly. As Alyssa lay on the floor bloody. Suddenly the people surrounded her. They were in shock seeing her.

—Inside The Hotel—

Ethan is back in the place where he instructed Alyssa to wait for him, but he can’t find her anymore. He was suddenly nervous. He looked for Alyssa’s last interlocutor to ask. “Excuse me, have you seen Alyssa?”

“Oh, we talked earlier when suddenly someone called her on the phone so she answered it but then after that, she walks in that direction. She felt uneasy, so I just don’t dare to ask.” The guest said.

“Thank you so much,” Ethan said. The guess answered him with a nod. Ethan hurriedly walked in the direction the woman had pointed. It was the parking lot area.

As he reached the parking lot, he was even nervous when he saw the people surrounding something there. Ethan also saw an ambulance. He feels different. He ran closer to it. “Excuse me, what happened here?” he asked a woman who was visibly shocked by the incident.

“A car ran a pregnant woman over!!!” said the woman.

Suddenly his heartbeat quickened at what the woman said. He darted inside where many people have surrounded it. His shoulder sank when he saw the medics had rescued and that woman is Alyssa.

He immediately approached one rescuer. “Sir, I am the victim’s family.” The rescuer nodded to him and let him hop into the ambulance.

Inside of it, Ethan was holding Alyssa, that was soaked in blood. He took his phone from his pocket and called Leonard. Immediately, his brother answered. “Hello,” Leonard, that was on the other line, answered.

“A car hit Alyssa,” Ethan said. The call suddenly drops. “Hello? Leonard? Hello?” Leonard didn’t answer anymore.
