Chapter 27: Chapter 27
CHAPTER 27: VISITING GRANDMA
Today is Saturday; I was very excited to visit my grandma and nervous because it is the time that I will tell the whole truth about my just married.
I took an early bath to finish cooking early, and when I had finished it, I just waited for my sleeping husband and my brother-in-law.
After a few minutes of waiting, Leonard arrived in the kitchen. He was wearing a blue polo shirt and black jeans, paired with white rubber shoes. I stared at him stupidly.
He had significant effects on me. Even though I see him every day here at home and sleep together, I still felt like he enchanted me. Especially the time when that short romance happens to the two of us. I begin to crave for more. Maybe, this is the effect if you fall in love deeply with someone.
'Oh, God, he is so handsome, I really can't take my eyes off him,' I said to myself.
"Is the food is ready?" Leonard asked me, but I didn't respond; instead, I looked at him in a dazed. Leonard wondered. He approached me and patted my cheeks. "Hey,"
"Oh, come again?" I asked as I was back to myself.
"Are you okay? Why are you in a dazed?" Leonard asked in astonishment.
I stuttered as I answered, "N-Nothing, l-let's eat so that we can get to grandma early.
"Oh, okay," Leonard agreed.
I immediately turned to Leonard and stepped over to the dining table. Leonard followed me. We would have eaten when I remembered Ethan. "Oh, one more thing, where is Ethan? I haven't seen him for days?"
Leonard's mood suddenly changes, and then he frowned. "Can't we eat? You said we need to get there early, right?"
I noticed that there seemed to be tension going on between the two of them. I just nodded and said, "Sorry,"
He seemed irritated the way he looked at me, but despite it, he continued eating without talking until we finished.
I went upstairs to get dressed, and when I was ready, I went downstairs again. Leonard was waiting for me in the living room while sitting. He saw me coming down. He stood up in his seat, and when I was already in front of him, he asked, "Let's go?"
"Okay," I answered. Then, we both went out of the house.
*****
We are already on board with his elegant vehicle. Same old thing, he still didn't pay attention to me while sitting side by side in the car.
I was secretly looking at his pretty face and said to myself. "The woman he loves was so lucky."
I enjoyed staring at him. Fortunately, he was not watching me. I had a long time to look at him. When the driver suddenly stepped on the brakes. I sank into my husband's hard body.
Instead of being scared of a sudden stop, I am enjoying immersed in his body. He smells so good. I gripped tightly to his polo shirt to savor his distinct smell.
"What's wrong with you? Why did you suddenly break? Don't you know my wife almost got accident?" he snarled to the driver as he turned to hold my head to protect me. While I, on the other hand, dipped my head even more to his body, pretending to be scared.
He lifts my head and bends his head to look at me and asked with concern, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," I responded, still pretending that my head hurt by holding it.
His eyes narrowed as he looked at me and asked again. "Are you sure you're okay? I think you hurt your head."
"I'm okay, and I can handle the pain," I said, acting to be hurt.
"Do you want us to go for a specialist?" he said.
I was scared of what he said because I might get caught in my nonsense. I immediately told him. "No, I'm fine now. But, oops, the pain has gone away. What a miracle!"
He laughed at what I said and told me, "Hahaha…! Now, I learned that you're afraid of seeing a doctor."
Good that he was clueless. I just rode at what he said and laughed at him. "Hahaha…!"
About an hour, at last, we have arrived at grandma's house. I have been waiting for this day! I'm starting to get nervous. Leonard got out of the car firsts, and I followed. We were right in front of the gate. Leonard ordered me to ring the doorbell.
"Go ahead,"
"Okay," I responded. I slowly reached for the doorbell button with hesitation until I could press it. I close my eyes in worry at the thought of what the outcome would be if my grandmother found out the truth, but it is necessary to confess to her now the truth no matter what the result may be before it is too late and before she finds out the truth from other people. "Come what may," I said to myself.
The door of the gate opened. Ms. Belinda appeared in front of us. Her eyes widened when she saw a man with me.
I tried to smile at her and greeted, "Hi, Ms. Belin, how's grandma?"
"Alyssa, how are you? Your grandma is much better now. She is waiting for your arrival, and anyway, would you mind if I ask you who this handsome man with you is?" Ms. Belinda asked me in surprise.
"Oh, meet my husband, Leonard Lee." I introduced him to Ms. Belinda.
Leonard smiled at Ms. Belinda and greeted her. "Hi, Ms. Belinda; nice to meet you."
Even Ms. Belinda was confused about the situation, she still manages to smile forcefully and greeted Leonard. "Nice to meet you too. Please, come inside." She cleared the way and offered us to get in.
We are already inside the house. My chest throbbed even more. It seems like I wanted to run outside. I am shaking as I approached my grandmother, who is sitting on the sofa while watching television.
Leonard noticed that I was profusely sweating. He held my hand and asked me, "Hey, are you okay? You're sweating real hard, and your hand is as cold as ice."
I stopped walking, so did he. Then I looked at him seriously and confessed, "Actually, I'm not okay. I didn't know how to tell my grandma the truth. She had heart failure, and she had just had her surgery recently. I don't want her to be surprised she might have a heart attack."
Leonard seemed to sympathize with my condition. I could see in his eyes. He pressed my hand and said, "Don't you worry, I'll help you."
I believed what he was saying, and I knew he was sincere. I nodded at him. We continued walking in the direction of my grandma when my grandmother suddenly turned around.
