Chapter 175: Chapter 175
Rong Zhi saw they weren’t in a hurry to leave, so she took out the documents to review and edit.
"Are you really that busy?" Bai Su glanced at the documents; they were proposals from some small, obscure companies. He’d never even heard their names; would the Rong Family really collaborate with such companies?
"It’s fine." Rong Zhi replied indifferently, switching to the next set of notes once she finished one.
After she finished editing, she planned to upload it to the computer and send it to Bai Tingxun to wrap things up.
Bai Su didn’t ask further.
After they rested enough, everyone set off to their respective homes.
Ying Yunlin had initially decided to return to Hua Country next Tuesday, but his plans kept changing. He wanted to experience the New Year atmosphere in Hua Country, so he changed his mind to stay in Beijing and celebrate the New Year with Rong Zhi before leaving.
Rong Zhi didn’t mind his decision.
Back home, she didn’t rest either; after tidying up, she went into the lab to continue working. Rong Jiazze wanted to help, but he really didn’t have any talent in medicine. Instead, he was very interested in the Star Calculation Array Bai Su occasionally set up.
After spending some time in the lab, the little boy was shivering from the cold. Rong Zhi waved her hand and had Bai Su take him outside to play.
Near midnight, she suddenly heard Rong Jiazze shouting in surprise. Without thinking much, she put down what she was holding and opened the door.
The little boy’s eyes were wide with excitement, endearingly innocent, as he pointed energetically at the air before him and turned to Rong Zhi, exclaiming excitedly, "Brother, I, I, I saw it!"
Rong Zhi paused slightly and glanced sideways.
There was nothing there.
"I can’t see anything." Rong Zhi walked up to him, her gaze falling on the odd yet inexplicably captivating stones placed on the table.
Bai Su had mentioned these were called Star Stones.
It was a stone that had once allowed her to see He Songzhi’s soul.
Rong Jiazze was stunned for a moment, his excitement fading, and he belatedly uttered, "Sorry, brother, I didn’t know..."
Rong Zhi ruffled his hair, "It’s fine."
This scarcely perceptible, mysterious thing can only be seen by a select few in the world, she thought it was quite normal.
Under her palm, Rong Jiazze nodded obediently, then suddenly hugged the slender waist of the youth, rubbing against him and saying, "It’s okay, I’ll stick with brother, I’ll make sure no demons come near him, I’ll protect him for life!"
Rong Zhi stood quietly, not speaking, allowing Rong Jiazze to hold her.
Her lab coat had been casually taken off before, and the little boy’s movements slightly lifted her clothing, revealing a portion, as white as if it glowed.
Someone’s eyes narrowed slightly.
The sibling’s bonding didn’t last for more than two minutes.
A pair of hands reached from behind, grabbed Rong Jiazze’s collar, and lifted him off the youth like one would a kitten.
Slightly warm fingertips pressed against the back of his neck.
He turned his head in confusion.
He saw a refined and charming man with slightly cool peach blossom eyes gathering seriousness in his gaze, meeting his eyes, and leisurely pulling out a faint smile at the corner of his lips.
Rong Jiazze’s eyes immediately widened, stuttering, "Brother Su?"
"Brother Su gives you a lesson," the man leisurely released his hand, slowly and deliberately caressing the skin at the back of the little boy’s neck, "In ancient times, men and women did not sit in the same seat starting from nine years old, even if they were siblings. Do you understand when I say this?"
Rong Jiazze nodded hastily.
Men and women shouldn’t touch each other, he was smart, he understood!
Bai Su chuckled softly, his laughter somewhat faint.
Rong Jiazze shivered completely, and when he came to his senses, he finally realized where things seemed off.
Agh, agh, Brother Su is warning him not to get close to his brother!
The hand on his neck was cold, it was terrifying, sob sob sob.
Fortunately, Rong Zhi kicked Bai Su in the next second, and the latter snorted lightly before letting go nonchalantly.
Saved at the critical moment, Rong Jiazze trembled, tumbled into Jiang Gujun’s arms, buried his head in Jiang Gujun’s chest, covering his ears like he was saying ’this world is scary, I want to hide-away’.
Rong Zhi inserted her hands in her pockets, raising an eyebrow lightly.
Bai Su’s charming and exquisite peach blossom eyes faintly swept over the little boy’s little bum, his thin lips slightly curled, and he turned his gaze back to the youth. The curve on his lips immediately was restrained, aggrieved and innocent as he said, "I don’t know why he’s scared...I’m just a bit envious that he can hug darling."
Rong Jiazze, pretending to cover his ears but actually listening intently: "?"
Something seemed off but he couldn’t quite tell what.
Jiang Gujun, well aware of Bai Su’s nature, wiped his face, sighed, and patted the little boy’s back in comfort.
The child was truly unfortunate.
Rong Zhi glanced at Bai Su expressionlessly, then turned around and went to wash up.
When she came back out, the stones on the table had been tidied up, Rong Jiazze had gone to bed, and the two men in the living room were in discussion about something. She didn’t approach, casually drying her hair before entering the lab.
