Chloe Montclair

I looked at him all tensed up. "Mr. Diego, with all respect... I do not know what you're talking about and I do not want to know about your past life story. I'm sure, you're here for a reason, right? This should strictly be about business! Nothing but business. I do not want to know if you hurt anyone from your past or, you've betrayed her and-" I stopped in my mid-sentence and my eyes widened in fear.

What did I just say?

"What?! Betray her?." He burst as he jumped up from his seat.

"How did you know that?." He asked taking a step closer to me. I got up from my seat in fear.

No, it had better not be what I'm thinking. He's not trying to find out if I'm her or not, right? He's not suspicious of me despite trying my best to be careful.., right?

As he take each step closer to me, I took one back. "S... St... Stop right there, Mr. Diego. Don't you dare come closer to me." I warned him in a shaking voice.

But, the idiot wouldn't listen to me. He's no longer the calm, respectful Sebastian I used to know. He's now different from the Sebastian I once know years back.

"I'm sorry but, I need to confirm something." He swiftly draws me closer to him and I shout.

"Arrrghh! Let go of me, you bastard." He didn't listen to me and continued with his assault. I know what he's trying to do. He's trying to find the mole on my right shoulder. If he does, I'm so dead!

He's going to know that I'm the Chloe who has been acquitted from jail.

I do not know why I was this weak before him. I couldn't do anything nor threaten him. I stood there in his arm with tears streaming down my cheeks when all of a sudden before he could drag my top aside to clear his doubt, a hand held his wrist tightly.

Ken! It's Ken!

He let go of my hand and Ken throw a hard fist across his face making him stumble on the floor. "What the fuck do you think you're trying to do to my woman!!" He burst in a pissed tone. He looks mad right now. I've always witnessed his angry side but, not this.

The way his chest was scrunching up and down in anger and he was not even ready to control it. He walk over to where Sebastian was lying on the floor and continue assaulting his face with lots of punches.

"Stop it! Stop it, Ken. You're going to kill him." I tried to stop him but, he wouldn't listen to me.

"Ken!!" I had to scream out his name loudly before he finally stopped and move back to where I was standing.

Before I know what was happening, two policemen walked in and handcuff Sebastian. "What the fuck are you doing?." He hissed and tried to struggle out of their grip but, they stopped him.

"You're advised not to say a word because anything you say will be used against you in the court of law. You're allowed to contact your lawyer and if you do not have one, the government will provide you with one." After that has been said, they drag him out. To my surprise, he didn't say a word and follow them quietly.

I stood there and watch their retreating back. Once they were out of our sight, I gave no idea of what I was doing... I turn around, jumped on Jawad, and hug him tightly whilst I'm still shivering out of shock.

"Hey! It's fine! Everything is fine now. You're safe." He said as he caress my back whilst he still hold me tightly in his arms.

"He... He tri... tried... He tied to hur-"

"Hey! Don't say a word. Everything is gone now." He said to me while still caressing my back.

He tried to break the hug but, I wasn't ready to let go. I'm still scared. "Everything is fine now, trust me." We finally broke the hug and he guarded me towards the couch and made me sit as he also took a sit beside me.

My assistant walks in with a glass of water in her hand. I watch him take it from her and dismissed her. "Here." He passes it to me. I look at him blankly not knowing if I should take the glass of water from him or not.

I'm still in a shocking state.

"Come on." I took it from him and gulp down the water in one goal.

"Hey! Easy there." He chuckled and pat my back a little.

"Are you okay now?." He asked me.

"Ho... How did you know?."

"Tiana, she told me. I called you several times but you were not picking up your calls so, I called her to know about your whereabouts.. that was when she told me you left home already to meet up with that bastard. I have a bad feeling something isn't right and that's why I came here in a hurry." This is the first I'm seeing him care this much about me. He looks different.

"Thank you for saving me."

"What were you thinking? Why would you meet with him without anyone beside you? Do you know what would have happened to you if I haven't come in, in time? That guy is dangerous for goodness sake!" He burst angrily at me.

Why is he mad at me though when all I needed right now is someone to pet me?

"You're scaring me, Ken. Stop shouting."

I have no idea why I'm this vulnerable today. I've never been this weak before so, why now? Why today?

He looked at me, stunned. I believe, he senses the same thing too. "Come on, I'm taking you home. You don't look okay to me."

"No! I'm fine! I'm perfectly fine, Jawad. Do not worry too much about me. Besides, I can't go home like this. Mom will be worried if she sees me in this state, not only her but also Tiana and your sister too."

"I never said, I'm taking you to your place. You're spending the night at my place." He said with finality laced in his tone.

"No! You're joking right?." I asked him with a nervous smile plastered on my face.

He was right when he said I'm not strong enough to continue the rest of my day with piles of work on my desk but, I've got no choice. I know Tiana so well, she's crazy and can go to any extreme when it comes to me. Plus, I do not want to worry her mom who just came to the house today with my problem.

That's the last thing I would want to do. But his house! Spending the night at his house is not something I can also do. How is that even possible? I can't do that!

And, what's wrong with you spending the night at his place? You've spent weeks at his place so, why not today? What are you scared of?- my subconscious scold me.

Whatever! I'm not spending the night at his place and that's final!- I mentally said to myself.

"Have I ever joked with my words ever since you know me?." He asked raising an eyebrow at me. The look on his face says it all, he wasn't joking a bit.
