Chapter 32: Chapter 32

Chloe Montclair

"Dad, what in the world are you trying to do now? I owned most of those companies and not you. How would you take that away from me just like that?." He asked in a frustrated tone.

"Ken is right, Domanco. What is wrong with you? This was not our agreement. You promised not to cause trouble no matter what happens and now, you're doing the opposite." His wife said more in a disappointed tone.

Without answering them or saying a word to them, he faced me and race a brow at me.

I do not know why he's doing this but one thing I'm sure of, he won't crumble his son with his hands... He's not that heartless. I think, he fell for both Ken and I trick. He believed we were truly in love and engaged too. He wanted to know if, I'm going to be with his son fully known he has nothing left.

"Seeing how quiet you have been, it means... You're not ready to be with my son even if he loses everything." His voice brought me out of my thought.

"Like I had said earlier, your excellency... I never fall in love with Ken because he was a billionaire... At first, when I met him, I had no idea who he was. Plus, falling in love with someone has nothing to do with wealth. When you're in love, you'll be ready to face any challenges with that particular person no matter what challenges comes their way. You should be ready to love them for who they're and not see in them. I'm with Jawad because I love him... I'm never going to leave him no matter what."

"I'm his to protect and he's mine to... No matter what comes out way, we'll overcome it." I finished saying and deep down in me, I keep on praying and hope he'll stop with his questions.

I'm literally shaking right now but, I can't even show it to anyone. His questions will be the death of me if, I'm not able to answer the rest correctly. He looked at me for a few minutes without saying a word and all of a sudden... He burst out laughing. Everyone in the room looked at him like he's lost his mind except me who was calm.

I'm glad I was quick to catch on, all he was doing was nothing but a test. He was testing me.

"Fine! Fine!! Ken, well done. You've done the right thing this time around. You've brought home a good woman! I love that." He announced smiling. I chimed in with him but I do not know why every other person looks sad.

They ought to be happy. "Domanco, what was that all about?."

"I'm testing my daughter-in-law to be. I want to know how she loves with my son and yes, she has proven it to me. Money isn't everything. Good! Very good!" He said again laughing and this time around, everyone in the room chimed in with him except his uncle.

He doesn't look happy or sad. Just him with a straight face. Just like Ken, you can never know what's going through their mind.

"So, you mean... All the questioning thing was nothing but a test for Vivian?." His wife asked him again in a stunned state.

"Yes. I like her already. Chloe, you can call me Dad from now on. I accept you as my future daughter-in-law and, you're not allowed to break up with my son no matter what." It sounds like an order but, this was merely a statement expressed in his overwhelmed condition.

"Yes sir... I mean, Dad." I hurriedly correct myself when I saw the look he was giving me and he smiled. "I won't leave Ken's side no matter what. I love him and I will do that till my last breath." I said as I fixed my eyes on Ken all through. He was also doing the same thing too. I do not know what came over me or what was running through my head... All that I know is, that I'm saying what comes from my heart. I can't even control it.

The words coming out of my mouth seem to be taking over me completely. Everyone in here thought I meant every single word that comes out from me not knowing, it was to make things right and make them believe our game.

But, you meant every single word thought- my inner thought reminds me.

Oh! Shut up!

"I heard from my son, that your parents are no more. They had an accident. You were the only survivor in the car that present-day?."

Huh?! Accident? But my Dad died of cancer. And my mom... Well, she died because of my foolishness. I killed my mom. I looked at Ken but, the idiot only keep a straight face.

"Erm... Yes." I answered.

"I'm so sorry about that. Do not worry, this is your family now. You can consider us as yours." He said.

"Thank you." I muttered softly.

"But, can you recall seeing the face of the person who hit your parent's car that day?."

"Huh?."

"Do you recall anything? I know, it might have been a long time but, you can at least remember something. The street it took place and so on. I'm positive it wasn't a mistake... It might have been an intentional hitting or something. I just want to look into it for you."

"No, no, no. Please don't. Erm, it's fine. Besides, it's been a long time since the incident happened, I do not recall anything and also, I do not want to get involved with the past anymore. It's now my past and I just want to be happy." I lied.

I hope, I hope, I hope- I mentally prayed for him to agree with me.

He shouldn't ask about my parents or family again... please, I'm tired of lying to them. I can't believe, I keep on using lies to cover up more lies.

"So, since the question and answer are all over now, can I talk to her alone?." Ken's mom asked as she hold my right hand softly with her two hands and smiled sweetly at her husband as she asked him the question.

"No, Aunt. You're not the only one who needs to talk to her. I also want to talk to her." Janet said as she also move to the other side and took hold of my left arm.

They're all crazy in this house. Starting from the father, mother, Aunt, and children but nevertheless, I still love them for who they're. This might be my first time meeting with them but, they made me feel at home, especially his mom and aunt. I never thought, my night will go this smoothly and nicely.

"Sure, she's all yours. Vivian, you're welcome to the family. The door to our house is always open for us. You can come in at any time you want and also leave." He said to me again and I gave him a small nod with a smile on my face.

"Thank you so much, your exce- I mean, Dad."

"Good! You may all leave." I got up and Ken tried to do the same but, his father stopped him. "Ken, you have to sit down back. We need to talk. It's important, it's about the business." He said in a serious tone.

We both lock gaze again for a few seconds. The worried look on my face, I guess, it didn't go unnoticed by him. He gave me a light nod with a small smile and that was how his mom and his sister drag me away with his Aunt trailing behind us squealing in joy.

While we were sitting down, they wouldn't stop bombarding me with questions. His mom, sister, and Aunt at the same time. It's hard to answer all of their questions at one pace. No one is ready to give me breathing peace at all.

Is this how all rich people are? I've always thought, they're pompous, arrogant, annoying, and selfish. But this family I'm seeing right now is far different from that. Not only are they nice but also humble too. It's hard to believe, they're the most respected being in this country...

"Chloe, I'm so sorry for what happened to your parents." Ken's mom said as she caressed my upper arm. "Are you sure, you do not want my husband to work on it? There might be something fishy since it was said that your car was hit by someone else."

"No, please. Erm... I do not want any other trouble. I'm okay this way." I said in a worried tone.

Getting to the route of this will lead him to know the kind of a person that I'm. They will get to know that I deceived them and lied. They'll hate me for the rest of my life or even make me end up in prison again for the second time.

"Come on, Aunt. If she said she doesn't want then forget it. It's hard to take revenge these days. Do people still do that though? I've seen it in movies and novels how people get revenge when they grow up and it's always interesting though. In the end, you'll see them falling in love and even getting married too with kids. What do you think, Chloe? After all, you're in love already and not just with anyone but Ken Domanco, the president's son. He might help you and after that, you two can take a long vacation break just to cool your head off."

"Stop saying rubbish." Her mom hissed and smack her arm.

"Ouch! Mom!!! What was that for?!" She hissed at her.

"That's for being stupid. How can you advise her to take revenge when she just said, she doesn't want to take one? What she needs now is our full support and we have to support her no matter what. She's one of us now."

"Talking about revenge... Mom, Aunt... Did you watch the news days back? This popular girl that was sent to jail years back for killing her mom... What's her name again?..." Janet trailed off as she tried to recall my name.

"Ch... Ch... No, I mean, Chloe." She exclaimed excitedly as she click her right index and thumb together. She looks like someone that just won a price of something.

"What about her? I heard she has been released. Who doesn't know about that ill girl? I will never like a girl like that. I can't believe she killed her mother for the sake of her betterment... She has been eyeing her father's wealth all along.. a crazy girl!! I also heard, maybe she was a bastard and that's why she wanted to own all of the wealth to herself as she's scared her kid sister might throw her out." She said. I'm burning in pain and anger at the same time. I wanted to get up from their midst and go away from there but, I can't.

I just can't leave their midst like that... They'll get suspicious of me. I can't help it, I'm biting my inner gum in anger right now.

"Mom!!"

"Kate!" Both Janet and Ken's mom tried to caution her at the same time.

"What?! That's what I heard about her." She said like it was nothing. "I just don't like that girl at all. She's a curse!"

"Mom!!!"

"What?!!"

"I don't think so though. She might be framed just like what the news said. We all saw the girl who claimed to be the suspect. She might be accused. Remember, non of us know the truth about what happened. I just hope, she's okay wherever she's... She must have been alone all by herself now." Mrs. Domanco muttered in a worried tone.

"Don't tell me you feel pity for that useless and crazy girl, sister?! Why would you though? I pray, I never get to see her because if I do, I'm going to make her pay for what she did she end up making her rot in jail again for the second time." She said with all resentment full in her tone.

"Mom, that's enough. I might hate her too... I mean, everyone does but, as Aunt had said... None of us knows the real truth. She might be the real victim but, painted as the bad one. I feel bad for her though when I watch the news. Imagine being in prison for years for a crime you've never committed... It hurts more than any other thing."
