Chapter 70: Chapter 70
'Did you get sick because you thought about what I said two days ago?'
Being asked such a core question, Alexa's heart stopped beating. She tried to come back to life and fight for her face. Luckily the nurse came to bring a bowl of porridge and medicine.
"This is the medicine that needs to be taken now. For now, rest until Dr. Ballmer comes back."
The young nurse's voice was very gentle and friendly. This was true sincerity from health workers towards patients. Alexa calmed down a bit.
Ray asked, "And she still won't be hospitalized?"
The nurse smiled. "There's no problem. The patient has received dextrose. Her blood sugar is low and she has a cold. It's not serious if treated immediately."
Ray believed and didn't say anything more.
When he wanted to continue their conversation, he saw that she had closed her eyes. He didn't know that she was pretending to be asleep. Even if that was the truth, he wouldn't bother her either.
Alexa, who pretended to be asleep, ended up sleeping for real because of the effects of the medicine that spread through the bloodstream. She slept for a long time and woke up to the sound of laughter around her.
The mature voice sounded enthusiastic, "If you want to eat more broccoli, then all these shrimps are yours."
Then a childish voice answered, "Really? All of them are mine?"
"Of course!"
"And everything in the restaurant?"
"Yes!"
"So, um ... everything in the sea are mine too?"
There was a low chuckle. "When did I lie to you? We can take the ones in the sea too. We'll fish them for free!"
Alexa's eyes blinked slowly, in the blur, she saw an adult man and a small child on the couch. They face each other. After a while she clearly saw that it was Ray and her son. Then she realized that she had moved onto the bed, stuffed with thick blankets. Ray must have carried her here.
Fillo asked innocently, "But what about you? Do you not like shrimp?"
Ray boasted, "All my shrimps will of course be yours too."
Fillo was so happy he almost jumped. His hands were wide open. "All all all the shrimps in this world too?"
"Yes, all all all the shrimps in the earth and sky!"
Alexa, "..."
Fillo tilted his head. "Are there shrimps in the sky?"
Seeing that expression, Ray couldn't help teasing him. "Yes! I ask you, if you get on a plane and bring a lunch containing shrimps, won't the shrimps be in the sky?"
Alexa, "..."
Fillo cheered in disbelief, "Woah! Daddy's right!"
"Even if you go to the toilet with shrimp, there will be shrimp in the toilet too," Ray said full of nonsense. "Am I not right?"
"That's right! That's right! Daddy's smart!"
Alexa couldn't believe that while she was sleeping, her child was being taught nonsense.
She moved to get up, and realized that three layers of blankets were on top of her. The small window in the room showed a dark view from outside. It seemed like she sleeps was quite a long time.
Ray, who heard movement, immediately turned his head, "Are you up?"
She moved closer to help Alexa sit properly and placed several pillows for support.
"Why is it already dark? What time is it?" asked Alexa.
Ray looked at his watch. "Oh, it's already nine, it doesn't feel like it."
Her eyes widened. The last time she was awake it was four in the afternoon and now it was already night. The entire bed was her alone now, which was why she slept soundly and didn't wake up.
Ray wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead. "Do you feel better? Are you hungry now?"
Alexa asked too, "Why didn't you wake me up?"
Ray was relieved to realize that her fever had gone down and her body was sweating a lot. That meant the medicine has worked well.
He said, "Fran asked me to let you rest. I intended to carry you home, but I was afraid you would wake up."
A nearby table was full of food. At this time, Fran had also returned with several packs of food and put them on the table. Now not only was the room crowded with many people, even the tables were full.
Fillo wanted to get into bed, Ray just wanted to stop him, but Alexa had already said, "Fillo, be a good boy. Don't approach me, okay? I don't want to add any more sick people to our house."
Fillo looked disappointed, but didn't argue.
"Are you feeling better?" Fran asked as he took off his doctor's coat. "My shift has ended, so I brought you some food."
Alexa looked at him. "I'm fine, just feeling itchy in my throat. Don't know if I can eat or not."
Fillo stood up. "I'll feed you, Mom."
Ray chuckled. "Smart boy." He put the child on his lap while peeling shrimp. "But before that, finish your food first. Look! I've peeled a lot of shrimps as promised."
"Mn." Fillo took a fork and started eating everything Ray provided.
"If you feel healthy then it's no problem. Try to eat soft food for a few days, drink lots of water and avoid spicy food," Fran said to Alexa.
Alexa just nodded, but Ray had already registered it well in his head.
He went to the sink, half shouting, "Are you sure she doesn't need a thorough examination? Didn't you see how pale she is? If anything happens to her, the first person I'll sue is you, Fran."
The sound of water accompanied Ray's shout which actually sounded demanding.
Fran sighed. Alexa just looked at the doctor helplessly. After getting to know Ray closely for several months, the man's perfect and arrogant image disappeared completely.
How could there be someone who was so inversely proportional to their original appearance and nature?
Really can't judge a person by the cover.
When people see Ray for the first time, they will think that this rich man was very arrogant, cold and out of touch. As soon as he spoke, he would emit a warm and gentle aura. When people get to know him more deeply, they will find out that this cold, arrogant and perfect man was actually very talkative, careless and full of nonsense.
And surely only a few people know his true nature.
If she didn't remember the DNA test results, she will ask again; was this the man who raped her five years ago? Who said on a piece of paper that she was great in bed?
"Why didn't you answer me, Fran?" Ray asked again. When he returned after washing his hands he immediately sat near Alexa and asked in gentle voice, "Wanna eat now?"
She had no appetite, but she nodded.
"Her blood sugar is low, besides too much mental stress and a cold. What she needs is complete rest for a few days."
"That's good." Ray was satisfied with that. He started to unwrap the food that Fran had brought.
Hospital kitchens were completely stocked with tasteless food. They usually only provide a little spice with a non-sharp taste. Fran specifically asked the hospital kitchen to provide several side dishes. He didn't know what she liked.
While preparing the bowl, Ray asked her seriously about what she was going to eat.
This treatment was very considerate. Whether she wants vegetables, chicken, shrimp, or something else, it was all up to her approval. Hospital meat was usually tender, but Ray suggested the shrimp he bought, he would even peel them if she wanted.
He knew how unpleasant hospital food was. He had already guessed what time Alexa would wake up, so he was ready before Fran came to bring porridge.
Fran stared at him blankly.
In the end the side dishes he brought were left untouched apart from the porridge.
But after Fran saw it again, it wasn't bad to sacrifice. This was the first time he had seen Ray's eyes so gentle and sincere. Although he was indeed kind and took care of any woman he got close to, his sincerity this time was truly deeper.
"You don't need to move, and I will feed you." Ray was ready with his spoon.
"I can eat it myself." Alexa refused.
"No. Open your mouth."
Alexa knew there was no point in refusing because this would definitely bear long-lasting fruit. She opened her mouth to take a bite.
Ray was satisfied to see her. "Is the shrimp spicy?"
Alexa shook her head.
"I knew that Fran would bring you bad food, so I prepared something better."
Look at this proud stinky boy! It was as if he was showing his territory.
Seeing the porridge staining the corners of her lips, Ray immediately wiped it away with his thumb. Then licked his thumb with his own tongue and acted so seductively.
"Is the porridge still hot?" Ray reached out again to stroke Alexa's lips. "I'll blow it some more for you."
Alexa wanted to hit him now. "I'm not used to being spoon-fed, okay!"
"So I'm the first?"
"Does it matter to you who is first or not?"
"Of course, it means I'm special," Ray said, turning to Fillo who was eating the shrimp too. "Is that right, Peanut?"
Fillo focused on eating, when he heard Ray ask him, he nodded. Whatever Daddy Ray says, it was true to him, so he agreed about anything.
Daddy Ray was so smart and awesome!
"Isn't our child cute?" Ray was excited himself, he truly loved Fillo to the bone.
This time Fran's gaze had darkened.
He was at first hungry to the point of death, but he was now full with pink bubbles everywhere.
