Chapter 51: Chapter 51
Jane looked at Alexa seriously. "While in a cruise with Ray—"
"In the castle ... and Hulk."
"Back in the castle with Hulk," Jane paused to wrinkle her nose at the pronouns, then continued, "what happened between you two?"
"Not much, I accidentally met him when Spiderman was in trouble."
Jane, "..." Spiderman???
Alexa gestured her thumb at Fillo, and spoke silently, 'Spiderman,' then said, "Hulk gave everyone a big gift of food and poisoned Spiderman, that's when we accidentally met. My plan almost failed, because I didn't mean to meet him so soon. Well, immediately after that I started making plans to trap that damn Catwoman."
Hulk, Spiderman, Catwoman—if anyone else heard this conversation, they would think the two were playing a joke.
"He poisoned ... Spiderman?" Jane, who was previously angry, couldn't hold back her laughter.
Rather than Spiderman, Fillo would be better called Baby Groot, because he is so small.
But Alexa didn't laugh. "Not intentionally, he made Spiderman eat too much and get sick."
"Then, this Catwoman incident?"
"I accidentally got to know a host, his name was Flash. He was the one who helped me trap Catwoman." Alexa recalled. "If I'm not mistaken, he's the number two host at the Paradise Bar."
"Oh, no! You mean Gerald Wiley?"
"Jane, do you even know him? You're a sugar momma too?"
Jane pinched Alexa's nose in annoyance. "What are you talking about? Who doesn't know Flash? He is the favorite host of rich women. Especially for a former member like me."
Oh, yeah, that makes sense.
"But, Lexa, you even dare to use him, are you sure he didn't betray you?"
Alexa shrugged, as their drinks came. She remembered seeing one dish on the menu. "Can I order medium sized mashed potatoes? Packages for children."
"Yes, Miss."
"Jane, order something first. I might be able to treat you."
Indifferently, Jane finally ordered the restaurant's best-selling menu for two portions and ignored the others. She wasn't actually that hungry and was interested in listening to Alexa's story.
"Continue," she said impatiently.
"Yeah, Flash was caught by Hulk's men and locked up for several days, luckily he didn't mention my name."
"Are you sure?"
"..."
"I mean, he was locked up for a few days and certainly didn't come out unscathed, right? A person can do anything while trapped, let alone just mention your name!"
After Jane brought this up, Alexa thought about it. Everything she said made sense. In a critical situation, a person will do anything to save their life, even if that something endangers other people. Moreover, Gerald wasn't close to her at all.
But there was one other reason that made her confident that she would be safe.
"Hulk doesn't seem to know I'm involved." Her voice floated at the end.
"I'll ask you again, Lexa, are you sure? If you forget, Hulk is a bastard. You told me that he was pretending to forget you. It's not impossible that he also pretended not to know you were involved, right?" Jane's tone was very hasty, you could tell she was anxious.
Alexa sat restlessly. "That's not possible."
Jane frowned. "So he's not a bastard?"
"It is not like that." Alexa couldn't explain it either. "This is also my reason why I haven't accepted his love. I have to know whether he is really blood-related with Spiderman."
Jane stared at him for a long time and said in disbelief, "Hold on. What are you going to do? Lexa, don't tell me you're going to do a DNA test?!"
"I will do that."
Jane didn't take her eyes off Alexa for a second. She held a lot of suspicion towards her, as if she didn't know her anymore. She also ignored the waiter who came with their food.
Her appetite had disappeared.
Because Jane looked very lost, Alexa took out a transparent piece of plastic containing a strand of hair.
Jane covered her mouth. "This is Ra—"
"Hulk's," Alexa interrupted before Jane said Ray's name. She looked at Fillo who didn't care about their chat. "I'm sorry for not wanting to involve you, but you can help me with this. Apart from this, I'll handle it."
"So you start to doubt whether he was the perpetrator five years ago or you try to convince yourself that he wasn't the one."
"Both." Alexa answered steadily.
Jane's eyes stared at the plastic as if it were a bomb that could explode at any time.
Her hand hesitantly reached out.
"Jane? Alexa?"
Someone's voice sounded near them.
Both of them were suddenly shocked and panicked. Jane was more deft at pulling the clear plastic and putting it under the table.
"Daddy!" Fillo, who had been passive all this time, immediately got excited and wanted to get down, but was blocked by the bar of his chair.
"Hi, Peanut. What a coincidence we met here."
"Hi, Ray," Jane said normally, she had managed to tuck one strand of hair into her handbag. "Oh, you're with your friend?"
"This is my secretary, Samuel."
"Oh, hi."
Samuel's face was not at all friendly like the first time Alexa met him. It was true that Fran was the same, with a cold and arrogant face, but Fran could still speak politely to her, so she respected him. It was just that Samuel's way of looking at her was very different. That was clearly hate.
Whatever it was, she didn't care.
"Sam, this is Jane, Kenric's wife."
"Nice to meet you," Samuel finally said after averting his eyes from Alexa.
"What are you talking about, it seems fun?" Ray asked while pinching Fillo's cheek anxiously.
The little boy was so happy that he kept asking for more touches. "Daddy, we discussed Hulk and Catwoman, there are Flash and Spiderman too!"
"Oh, what is that?" Ray was a little interested. While asking, he stole a few glances at Alexa and smiled gently without anyone knowing.
Jane laughed awkwardly. "Ah, Fillo has good ears, But women are usually busy discussing new films at the cinema. Ray, do you want to join us?"
In her heart, she was very grateful that Alexa replaced people's names with superheroes. Apparently it had some use.
Alexa was grateful that Jane was able to change the topic quickly. Fillo although he was silent, he was actually quite observant and his ears were sharp. She was lucky to have anticipated it.
"That's right, Ray, you can join," she said, somewhat awkwardly, especially after the situation that occurred between them.
"I don't think so. I'm still on working hours. I'll be scolded by someone later." Ray laughed.
The person he was insinuating didn't mind at all, as he was busy looking at Alexa and looking unhappy.
"I'll be over there," Ray bent down to kiss Fillo's forehead. "Peanut, see you at home."
"Mn." Fillo nodded enthusiastically.
After Ray left, Alexa's heart returned to its normal rhythm again, but she still didn't feel relieved. She looked at Jane with a serious look.
"Jane, I want to get out of here now!"
