Chapter 46: Chapter 46

That morning Ray was in his study, listening to Adam report the situation during his absence.

Hailey apparently came almost every day between his nightclub and his office. Everyone was afraid to see her because she was so stubborn and could not be driven away. When someone approached her, she would scold them all and damage nearby property.

Just by hearing it, Ray could imagine what the situation was like.

"What about Samuel? Is he looking for me?"

Adam nodded and explained that Samuel had almost given up waiting for him to return.

To be honest, Ray had deliberately distanced himself.

Apart from Fran, no one knows where this villa is. It has been two years since this villa was built, and it is used as a place of solitude. At first, Fran didn't know this place either, but his ambition was like a mad dog, making him have eyes everywhere to find out.

But at least Fran is someone who can be trusted not to reveal Ray's whereabouts out there.

And speaking of Fran, Ray remembered the man's question last time,

'Do you think she is a good woman?'

At that time, he could have easily answered, but he didn't do so and thought.

After he thought about it, he felt that there was something wrong with the question. It's been almost a month since he and Alexa have lived together in this villa, their communication was quite good, there were no other internal problems. There was no reason for him to accuse her of having bad intentions.

Also because of her guilt, the woman took care of him wholeheartedly. Really treated him like he was her own family; like taking care of his food, clothes, wounds and medicine—she even almost took over the kitchen by taking care of all the food needs.

Damnit! He felt like he was a husband who was well taken care of by his wife.

This made him quite embarrassed.

But she could not be prevented after all. Even though he repeatedly said that what she was doing was unnecessary, she would not listen. He always lost in arguments with her because she always had a reason to oppose him.

"Why is my head full of her?"

"Excuse me, sir?"

Ray forgot that Adam was still there; gave many reports as if he were reading romantic poetry in another language. Boring and made him sleepy.

Finally Ray threw him out.

Before Adam left, he said, "Mr. Sanders, don't forget to go to work tomorrow because your agenda has piled up."

"What agenda? Samuel didn't take care of it?"

Adam's face was very straight as he answered, "He went on strike today."

"Shit! Why are you just saying it now?"

Ray panicked and took his phone. When he was about to contact Samuel, he stopped. If he contacted Samuel, he would have no reason to refuse to talk to him. It was been a month and he knew Samuel must be crazy with anger.

Then he looked at Adam. "Call him and say I'll be working tomorrow."

Adam lowered his head obediently.

Another reason he stayed away from Samuel, wasn't because he wanted to be alone, it had to do with Hailey.

He first got to know Hailey because Samuel introduced her to him. When they finally got into a relationship and got engaged, he didn't really remember how it all went down.

It's just that, honestly, he doesn't love Hailey.

Before this, Hailey was just like a guardian in his heart, when she made a mistake and made him angry, somehow he got the opportunity to tell her to leave. He knew the situation Hailey experienced that night on the cruise ship, according to Adam, she was trapped by someone and caused that scene. Which meant that was all a misunderstanding.

But he didn't care.

At first he thought his brain needed peace without love. Being single until old is also not a problem. He could adopt a child or whatever to continue the business. Or with the currently popular womb rental method, he can get his own flesh and blood.

He felt he didn't need a woman.

No need.

Not until Alexa came into his life, living in his villa and serving him the cause of accident redemption. He thought he couldn't possibly fall in love—but why with this woman did he feel his heart flutter?

Ray wasn't wrong in thinking that he was in love, but maybe he needed one more thing to convince his heart.

He decided to go to the first floor and find that belief.

Coincidentally, Fillo was in the garden he had just renovated. He added many gaming irons in the empty lot, which previously seemed old-fashioned and boring, became colorful and lively; he installed seesaws, slides, swings and so on.

"Daddy!" Fillo jumped off the seesaw and ran to hug Ray, he automatically crouched down.

"Fillo, you can't be like that. Uncle Ray is injured, you have to be careful," Alexa warned him.

Filli pulled away at his mother's warning, but he was pulled back into a warm embrace. He was very happy and buried his little head there.

"Daddy, does your hand still hurt?" Fillo's head lifted slightly to see Ray's face.

The cast on his hand had been removed sooner than expected, Fran kept reminding him to be careful.

Ray held the little boy in his left hand and said, "It doesn't matter, I've recovered. Look."

Fillo's white and innocent face immediately turned red with embarrassment. His small hands hugged Ray's neck tightly. Ray took him to sit on a nearby lounge chair under a shady tree.

"Do you want pancakes?" Alexa asked while carrying a small plate of pancakes, as if not accepting rejection. "Do you like honey?"

"I like it. I happen to be hungry," Ray answered.

"What about peanut butter?"

"No."

Alexa immediately added honey to the pancakes.

"You're so busy in your study, so I can't disturb you." She explained. "Eat this first and I'll prepare your breakfast."

Ray refused. "I didn't eat much at breakfast."

"I know, but you still have to eat it because I prepared it."

He was helpless.

"Give him to me." She stretched out her right hand to reach Fillo, moving forward until they narrowed the distance.

The sound of wooden branches being stepped on by her feet. Because the branch had many branches, part of the stem got caught in her sandals and made it difficult for her to lift her feet.

She struggled to keep walking, but she was completely unprepared, and stumbled forward.

The pancake in her hand fell to the ground and the porcelain plate broke. Alexa who lost her balance fell on someone's thigh. She was silent for a moment, not immediately realizing the situation and was in a daze. The position was Alexa on the right thigh and Fillo on the left thigh of someone.

And that was Ray's thigh.

Her heart was pounding, for several minutes she couldn't find her voice again.
