Chapter 33: Chapter 33
There was silence all around. Even Alexa, whose waist was supported by the other party's protective arm felt like the world stopped for a moment. Until she heard Ray's voice,
"Why are you so careless, huh?"
"Ah."
She immediately stood up, but it was the wrong move as a sharp pain shot through her ankle. She almost fell agaian. Ray grabbed her shoulder.
"It looks like you sprained your foot."
"It's okay." She said slowly. His every touch seeped into her blood, making her uncomfortable.
"It's not okay. Let's go to the clinic."
Before she could answer, her body was lifted in the air as he carried her bridal style. She was a little shocked and reflexively put her hands around his neck with a strange expression.
Ray said, "Why do women fall so easily? Can't they be more careful with their surroundings?"
"How would I know if the snow would fall. Do I have eyes in the back of my head?" she grumbled in complaint.
"You don't have thay. But you can hear it."
"So is it my fault if I can't see and hear that snow is about to fall on me?" This time she got angry.
Ray chuckled. Women were unreasonable sometimes, but he was somehow amused by her anger. Alexa asked why he was laughing, he didn't answer and called Fillo who was silent with red eyes. This kid will definitely cry soon.
At the clinic, the doctor on duty bandaged Alexa's ankle and said that the injured was not serious and she should be careful with her foot for a few days. Ray followed the doctor to get the medicine, leaving the mother and son in the examination room.
"Mom ..."
Alexa almost forgot about her son and spread her arms. "Will you hug me?"
Fillo nodded with little head, he climbed into the chair, then hugged his mother. "Does it hurt?"
"No. Because you hugged me."
"Can a hug heal the wound?"
"Of course!"
Fillo hugged his mother even tighter. Her small face rubbed against Alexa's clothes and she felt the kid's sadness. She should have been more careful. Her son's heart was already sensitive from the start, she knew he would definitely feel guilty even though this incident had nothing to do with him.
In the end, Ray took them back to their room and accommodated all their needs with VIP service. Alexa didn't need to worry if she is going to eat or go to the bathroom, the female servant was already there.
Especially since Ray didn't think to volunteer to take care of her.
In the night, The Little Boss, who had been enthusiastic and professional like an athlete, was now withering like a tree trunk that had not been watered. His hands rested on the side of the bed. His mouth pursed, trying to blow out the warm smoke.
The person on the bed was shocked. "Fillo, what are you doing?"
The room was dimly lit because only the table lamp was on, she couldn't see him clearly. But a very clear feeling of warmth brushed her skin.
There was a slight movement. "I blew on your wound."
"Fillo, sweetheart," she took a sitting position, "my ankle is bruised, it's no use blowing it like that. There's another way."
"What's that?" Fillo asked excitedly.
She chuckled. "Climb next to me and hug me tightly."
Unlike lies that usually work quite well, this time it didn't seem to work. Fillo didn't seem to believe the idea, glancing at the bruises on her ankles from rubbing against her shoes. The bruise looked dark blue and wide, very scary and ugly. His face looked very bad. He seemed to be remembering the bruise pain he had experienced before.
“Will it go away if I just hug you? Mom, don't lie to me.” He pouted.
"It will. You won't know without trying."
"But I've done it, and it still doesn't heal."
"Wounds won't heal that fast. But if you hug me, the pain will lessen."
Alexa thought he might not be cheated this time, but she heard him say, "I will do it."
"Then get on!"
Now that the two people were under the blanket, no one made a sound.
Alexa just waited, until she felt small fingers slip into the gaps of her arms around her back.
"Mom, don't be hurt," said the little boy.
A warm feeling spread across her chest, as if fanning her severe heart wound. She hugged back, kissing the top of his head that smelled good of shampoo. Also patted his thigh.
"It's already late, why did you wake up suddenly?" She asked.
He answered in a small voice, "I promised Daddy that I would take care of you."
That bastard is influencing his kid again!
"Fillo, you're still small. You don't have that kind of responsibility." She pulled him closer, resting her chin on his head. "The bruises will go away on their own, you know?"
"But I promised. Daddy said, men shouldn't break their promises."
Now, not only is he good at saying sweet things, Ray also made his son do something complicated. Fillo will obviously mature precociously because of this! Who would be responsible if he blew on her wound until the morning without sleep?
Not to mention that Fillo always calls him Daddy this, Daddy that ... it made her head hurt.
It's clear their closeness is unhealthy.
Fillo must have been brainwashed!
She took two breaths, then frowned and bit her lip.
Ray wasn't stupid, of course, where could a rich businessman be stupid? Did he become rich by luck alone? And in modern times, there are many ways that he can find out that Fillo is his flesh and blood, if he thinks that their similarity is too coincidental.
Wouldn't keeping them close together destroy her plans?
Or what if Ray had actually found out information about Fillo? Obviously, he could do anything by ordering other people—just like Jane who easily asked informants to look for Hailey's info.
No. It can't be like this!
Could it be that Ray really knows?
Anxiety immediately crept into her heart like an ant climbing inside. "Fillo, be honest with Mom. Why do you call Uncle Ray Daddy? Did he order you? Did he threaten you?"
Her words were very sharp without realizing it, then she looked at the kid, who was almost asleep because he was starting to feel sleepy.
When she hugged him tighter and kissed his head many times, she finally forgot the question.
But, just as she wasn't expecting any more answers, she heard Fillo said, "Don't all little kids have a Daddy?"
Alexa froze.
His voice sounded sleepy, "All my friends have dads, they get picked up every day by car. Daddy also picked me up once, so he's my dad too, right?"
This was his longest sentence during their communication. Moreover, he said this while almost sleeping. Maybe like delirium and raving. But it was able to make her forehead wrinkle painfully, her nose hurt.
'Why? Isn't it normal for a kid to miss a father figure?'
She asked that in her heart and understood; one of the greatest joys that she cannot give is a father figure for his little one.
Too bad Ray is such a bastard. If he really cared about his child, why would he do it now, when it was too late? Where was he five years ago? Where was he when little Fillo had to struggle between life and death due to his premature birth?
She felt embarrassed because she felt her heart beating when Ray helped her on the ski ride. In fact, for her, Ray's kindness was definitely not sincere. He was a wolf who wouldn't let go and kept biting her until he got his wish. She can't forget that!
Five years ago, the pain was unbearable. There was no way she would forget that suffering.
"Fillo, you can ask me for anything, but don't ask for that one thing."
When she said this, Fillo did not hear, he slept.
... to be continued ...
