Chapter 27: Chapter 27
"Thank you, Ray. I don't know what would have happened if you didn't help me."
Ray recalled Alexa's panicked expression a moment ago, which had calmed down over time and said, "Alexa, in our current relationship, what you said was too formal."
'What relationship do we have now?'
She grimaced, forcing herself to suppress her feelings of reluctance from being around him. Instead, accumulate a sense of courage to start being humble for the sake of her goals.
"Fillo is allright now, I think I took up too much of your time," she said, without taking her eyes off her son who was asleep in the treatment bed.
Believe it or not, Ray knew that she was changing the conversation to gently send him away.
Half an hour ago, he abandoned his main goal of being on deck 13 because Hailey suddenly left. He didn't know what the woman's reason was and was a little annoyed.
When he accidentally saw a little boy on deck 13 and remembered Fillo, he asked the servant to prepare a special package of food for the child. Due to the large number of people there, he finally took the initiative to treat everyone too.
He just didn't expect that the little boy would actually be Fillo himself.
After he went to look for Hailey and returned to deck 13 without success, he actually saw a commotion there in such a short time. They said there was a small boy curled up in pain on the floor because he had eaten something by mistake.
Ray, who at that time was the benefactor who prepared the food, felt responsible. He parted the crowd to take a look, and was simply stunned.
—Because the one lying there was Fillo.
"Do you believe there is such a thing as multiple coincidences in this world?" Ray asked suddenly.
Alexa laughed in her heart, this coincidence was made directly by herself, how is this called the same?
She had heard that this cruise ship project belonged to some big names in the city, originating from a confused rich man's fad idea to invest money—Jane said.
Only since Kenric joined the project as one of the shareholders, somehow the Dream Cruise project became successful and famous.
What a brilliant fun idea.
"I just wanted to take a short vacation to fill my free time with my son, I didn't expect to meet you," she said, "and I didn't follow you on purpose."
Ray was confused. "I didn't say that. I mean, since our first meeting, we've continued to meet several times after that. Isn't this strange?"
"I don't think it's anything strange." She dodged.
Ray sighed. "Let's be honest, Alexa. If I had known you wanted to vacation on a cruise ship beforehand, I would have definitely given you tickets and all the accommodation for free."
She pretended to be surprised. "This Dream Cruise is yours?"
Unfortunately, he didn't know that the woman was pretending, and he laughed. "Not really. I invested my shares here, the second largest after Mr. Hamilton."
"You mean Kenric?" She continued her pretense. "I got this ticket from him. You know, if I went alone, I wouldn't be able to be a VIP participant."
"Ah, I forgot that Jane Ryleigh is your friend."
"That's how it is. Jane forced me to accept these tickets, she said Kenric wanted to thank me for the party I planned."
Ray agreed. "The party you planned is the best. You deserve it."
Hearing these words of praise did not immediately make her happy. Her current small success was because she worked hard for Fillo. If she hadn't dropped out of college, now she might have become a lawyer at a leading law firm.
By the way, she once dreamed of becoming a lawyer who fought for women's full rights over men.
No one thought that this dream would not be realized and that their rights as a good woman would be taken away.
"I am so devoted to my work, I want to give my best even though my efforts are only a small stone," she rubbed Fillo's thin fingers. "What I'm doing is all for him."
"Even though your business is still relatively small, you are professional. Don't look down on yourself for that."
Alexa didn't answer.
Instead she bent down to kiss his son's hand.
It made a few strands of her untied hair fall next to her cheek. From this position, Ray couldn't see her face clearly. Without realizing it, his hand moved to push the hair behind her ear, his action made her startled and turned around.
He immediately realized. "I'm sorry. Your hair is hanging out, they can stick to your wet cheeks."
And her cheeks were indeed wet with tears. The light from the lamp made her skin glow, from this distance no one could deny the woman's natural beauty, even he didn't deny it.
"Are you still crying?" He asked worriedly.
"Sorry that you had to see me in a mess."
"Why are you apologizing? I was also worried when I saw his condition, I'm not even his family, how could you, her mother, be okay with that?"
All of his words made her laugh bitterly.
Later, when he finds out the whole truth, what expression will the man show? Can he still look at Fillo sincerely like this?
"You're right, I was so scared I even thought I could die from anxiety," she said. "I think the allergies are acting up."
"The doctor said he just ate too much, right?"
She nodded. 'And I almost thought I wanted to curse you for preparing that little boy's package, Mr. Bastard.'
But there was no way she would reveal that.
"I'm sorry, it's my fault too. I just felt like I saw Fillo, and thought about preparing food for the visitors." Ray really seemed to regret his actions.
Alexa's forehead frowned at this. "Are you thinking of treating everyone because of my son?"
Ray didn't dodge. "Yeah."
Her mind went blank.
Ray, "But I didn't know that what I saw was really Fillo, he was wearing a hat and sunglasses. I didn't recognize him at that time."
Until this worda fell, she didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Luckily, the kid really just ate too much, so he accidentally stretched his stomach and caused his weak stomach to shock and cramp. When the doctor gave him some medicinal pills, that was when the problem was truly resolved.
Just like that.
At least she knows how terrible Fillo's food allergies were in the past, she doesn't want to experience that incident again.
"I don't blame you for that," she said, half lying and half honest.
But he still chased her. "Tell me what I can do to make it up to you. I'll definitely do anything."
"No need, it's no big deal now."
"Let's just say I'm doing this for Fillo, okay?"
She didn't say anything.
"All this time I have always maintained my diet well, but it turns out I was neglectful towards other people. I'm actually not a good person either." Ray still didn't stop.
"Then, if I need help maybe I can contact you, this way your guilt will be paid off."
"Is it true?"
Alexa nodded.
In her mind, this was Ray's true attitude; always pretending to be good in front of women by hiding his own rottenness, until one day those evil fangs will come out.
Even though it wasn't, her mind was just too shallow and full of hate.
She didn't know that he was indeed a very good person, who probably didn't pretend to attract sympathy for his own gain.
"It's getting late, shouldn't you go back to your room?" She got up to pull Fillo's blanket.
Ray didn't think that he could leave her alone here in this state, but before he could express it, a voice was heard outside.
"Is Ray Sanders here? What happened to him? Is he hurt?"
It was Hailey's voice.
Alexa instinctively pulled the curtains to completely cover Fillo's bed. Ray who saw it frowned, but then understood.
"I'll go," Ray said.
"Hurry up. You've been here too long."
He nodded. "I'll call you later."
She didn't answer and just smiled flatly.
