Chapter 24: Chapter 24

The next day, Ray went accompanied by a driver to pick up Hailey at her house. Since it was their first vacation after returning to New York, he took a long day to have fun. During this time, he was too busy working so she started to protest about losing time with them.

Hailey was waiting on the terrace when he arrived. She wore a skimpy floral dress that showed off her shoulders and thighs. The clothes looked thin and barely covered her body completely.

He frowned. "I told you not to wear anything too revealing."

"But I like this, babe. Don't you like seeing me looking beautiful?" she grumbled.

Seeing her like that, he just gave in and rubbed her pink cheek gently. Because arguing with women usually doesn't win, he didn't want to continue. He took a scarf from his car pocket and put it on her open thigh.

"At least wear this temporarily," he said softly.

In the car, apart from the two of them, there was still Adam who was the driver at the wheel. It was true that Adam had said that he was gay, but Ray still couldn't get other people to see his girlfriend's thighs.

"Okay! I will obey my lover this time." She smiled sweetly and leaned her head on his shoulder.

They finally arrived at a large port an hour later and waited in the special departure waiting room. While waiting, Ray will be busy with several phone calls and make Hailey so bored that she walks around alone.

The air in the harbor was very strong at that time, so she wore her favorite pink goose down coat.

When she walked out the door to get to the porch, it wasn't crowded, but someone bumped into her. The bag she was carrying fell to the floor.

"Hey! Are you blind? Look what you did! If this bag gets scratched would you be able to replace it?! That's an expensive bag!" Hailey shouted loudly at the old woman who had just bumped into her, making several people look at her curiously.

The old woman bowed to apologize, but her voice was very small and hoarse. Hailey, who couldn't hear her voice, ran out of patience, as a result she pushed the woman until she fell.

She looked at the old woman's appearance and wrinkled her nose in disgust. "Looks like you won't be able to replace it if my bag breaks. Luckily you're not unlucky this time."

She took her bag and patted the dust on it, luckily the bag was completely undamaged. Then she glanced back at the woman, who didn't leave even as if she was waiting for her to say something. Hailey became increasingly annoyed to see her.

"Besides, where are you from, a poor woman? This is a business waiting room filled with upper class people! You must want to steal, right? Just admit it!" she said harshly.

"Forgive this old women, Miss, please. I'm Sorry." The woman finally said in a slightly loud voice, but still sounded weak because of the veil over her mouth.

"I'll get the security here! Just wait!" Hailey sneered and shouted for several guards.

"Miss, is there a problem?" Two securities approaches.

"You guys are doing your job incompetently! Look at this old woman wanting to steal! Take her away! You can see on the surveillance camera that she just deliberately wanted to steal my bag."

The port securities were a little panicked and afraid, without knowing further about the problem, they chose not to offend her and took the woman away. Before apologizing to her several times.

Hailey snorted. Finally, annoyed, she returned to the waiting room, seeing that Ray was still busy on his phone, she became even more annoyed.

She leaned closer to Ray and sulked. "Ray ..."

Ray turned around at the sound of her voice, then his expression changed.

"Okay, I'll wait to hear from you. You don't need to worry because this is the best recommendation," he said before ending the call. He put his phone in his pocket before looking at her. "What's wrong? Why do you look upset?"

"Someone tried to steal my bag."

At the same time, his phone rang with an incoming message and he looked at it to reply to the message. But she didn't let it happen and grabbed his phone quickly.

"Babe, did you hear me?" Hailey grumbled.

"Just a moment. It's an important message. Give it back to me."

His expression was so serious that she felt a little scared for a while. She held back her annoyance and finally returned the phone immediately. After he replied to the message, he looked back at her.

"Tell me, what's upsetting you?"

Hailey folded her arms in annoyance. "Nothing. I forgot."

"Hey ..."

"Ray, you promised me that this was our holiday and we would have fun, right? But why are you still busy working?"

Ray remembered the promise and could barely escape it. He grabbed her hand and said, "I'm sorry, okay? My friend was in trouble and I was helping him find some clients."

"Your friend is having a hard time," Hailey pressed the sentence through her teeth. "Are your friends more important than me?"

"Babe, that's not ..."

"Then, how?" Hailey interrupted him. "Trust me, Ray. In the next two or three years, your friend will forget this good thing you did. But, your girlfriend will remember this day for the rest of her life. Can't you tell which one should be prioritized?"

"Hailey, you are my priority."

"Why don't I feel that way? This isn't the first time you've put other things before me. You don't love me!" Hailey looked at the floor sadly.

Ray pulled her shoulders to make her face him, then explained more gently, "Listen to me, my friend is a single mother, she has a young son. Recently her business has been quiet, and I only helped her recommend her services to my acquaintance. That's all."

"Single mother? Ray, does that mean she is a woman? Is she your lover, huh?"

Ray didn't understand why Hailey didn't have the slightest trust in him. They've been engaged for five years, they've been through a lot, even when Ray was at his lowest.

It would be very low if he could hurt her like that.

Before he had time to explain again, Hailey was already crying. "I know you don't actually ... love me, right?"

For a moment he couldn't say anything. He tried to dig through a lot of things in his head, searching for her name that was embedded in his mind with a solid nail. He loved her, of course, why should that be questioned?

Why did he have to find out about that in his heart?

He held his forehead subconsciously. "I love you, Hailey. If I dare hurt you, my father and my grandfather will kill me. You know how much they like you, right?"

Her grandfather was the one who proposed this match, he said that they had been dating for so long and should get married. But because there was a major disaster at that time, the plan was postponed so they only carried out the engagement ritual.

But, that didn't make he blind to the love his grandfather had for Hailey. It was as if he believed that she was the best for his grandchild. No other.

So when his grandfather proposed the match, Ray did not refuse at all, because what his grandfather said was true.

"Are you serious?" Her eyes lit up hearing that.

He smiled weakly and nodded. Her head fell to his chest, a tight hug creeping over his shoulders. He felt hot, wet lips touch his lips with the scent of sweet perfume, and he began to assume dominance.

While they were kissing, they didn't know that there was a pair of eyes looking at them with a disgusted expression.

"Mom," A small child sitting next to the woman with a big bear hat on his head called. His expression looked sleepy.

The woman turned her head, changing her serious expression to a gentle and affectionate one. She didn't answer immediately, but instead put her finger to her lips.

"Go back to sleep, Mom will wake you up when the ship leaves, okay?"

The little boy nodded and went to sleep immediately.

When the ship was finally about to leave, Alexa did not wake Fillo. Carrying him on her shoulder, she lifted the suitcase alone into the cruise ship door with the other vacationers. A ship's officer saw her and helped her.
