Chapter 12: Chapter 12

Even though she said she was ready to continue her revenge, to be honest, she wasn't mentally ready. Three months passed so quickly like a fast flowing river. Without realizing it for that long, she turned a deaf ear to everything about Ray, making Jane also not dare to discuss a single word about that man.

Because work was slow at the end of the month, to make her silly thoughts go away, she spent a lot of time with Fillo. She even took the kid to and from the playground every day, surprising the teachers.

"You want ice cream?"

Fillo looked up from the robot toy he saw on the shop shelf, then nodded and looked back at the toy.

"You haven't tried the peanut flavor, I'll buy you that one." The trolley was pushed to the ice cream refrigerator and Alexa took several packs of peanut ice cream from various brands. Also strawberry flavored for him.

Fillo excitedly glanced at the ice cream that she had put in the basket. His eyes sparkled like stars.

"You can't wait to eat it?" Alexa asked amused. "Mom will take you to the park, we'll eat ice cream there, what do you think?"

Lack of work was annoying, but she had memorized the pattern of work she had been doing for years. It's rare for couples to use her services at the end of the month, usually couples will come at the beginning to the middle of the month—then the office will be busy. Since she added a list of party planning services to her marketing, it cannot be denied that her business is little known to many people. Well, thanks to Ray, for this one.

Her lips smiled bitterly.

Ray, huh?

It turned out that even though she tried not to think about it, that man still got into her head presumptuously. It was true what Jane said, she has been trapped in that man's circle.

"Mom will pay this first, don't go anywhere. Ok?"

The little head nodded slowly cutely.

Immediately she continued the existing queue, while daydreaming she began to think about Fillo—about how the kid was very quiet. She knew that Fillo actually really wanted the robot toy he had been staring at for a long time. As a mother, it wasn't that she was insensitive or anything, but she wanted the kid to ask her for what he wanted. As long as the kid grows and understands, he rarely opens his mouth to speak.

Once, she took her son to the doctor to be examined. The doctor said there was nothing strange about him and concluded that his son was just shy. The doctor even explained that the characters of children his age are still very diverse, most of them don't really know how to express themselves so they are often considered wrong.

At first she understood what the doctor was saying, but after every second she was around him, she realized that her son wasn't shy—but he didn't want to talk.

Fillo only spoke when she asked something that couldn't be answered with just a nod or shake. So one day, she had to prepare many different questions every night to get him to speak out.

"Is there anything else to add, Miss?"

"No." Alexa took out the exact change and the groceries were handed to her, but as soon as she turned around, Fillo was not behind her. "Fillo?"

Her eyes circled several places that could be reached, the supermarket was quite crowded and there was no sign of the kid at all. She walked rather quickly, carrying her shopping bag, into the gondola aisles.

But he was completely nowhere to be found.

"Oh, God, where has he gone?" She started to feel panicked and sweaty, so she had to tie her hair up. Meanwhile her heavy shopping made her fingers red.

A guard approached her. Looked suspicious of her. "Can I help you, Miss?"

At that moment she remembered about the toy robot, she immediately answered 'no' to the guard, then ran into the toy aisle. Still, she didn't see her son there.

"Miss?" The guard was apparently behind her, "Something happened? Maybe I can help——"

"My kid," she interrupted desperately. "He's so small, he's four years old. He's this tall. Have you seen him?"

Her hand was on her thigh to tell him approximately Fillo's height.

The guard seemed to understand and was alert. "Your son got lost? May I know his appearance?"

"His hair is brown, his eyes are dark blue and his skin is white, he is cute."

The word cute just came out of her mouth so she cursed. 'For god's sake! All little kids are cute, Lexa!'

Her eyes filled with tears as she continued, "Fillo is very quiet, he definitely doesn't know that he's lost. What should I do?"

Child kidnapping is on the rise on social media, irresponsible evil people are reportedly selling small children to take their highly valuable bodies. What if Fillo ...

"Oh, Fillo, where are you, sweetheart?"

Her tears finally fell.

"This supermarket is quite large and busy, there are also lots of high aisles. How about we make an announcement over the speakers? Can you come with me to the information desk?"

Maybe previously the guard had been a bit cold when greeting her because she was carrying a shopping bag filled to the halls, but when he found out about the problem that had occurred, it seemed that the guard was quite competent.

The information place was no less busy than other corners. On the right and left were the cashier's desks full of queues. As long as the guard told the problem to the information section, Alexa's eyes continued to wander around the contents of the spacious building. Her gaze was low hoping to find little Fillo.

"Please state your child's name, Miss, along with his appearances and the clothes your child is wearing."

Without turning around, Alexa answered, "Fillo Greisy, his nickname is Fillo. His hair is brown, blue eyes. He is wearing a gray sweater. He is so small."

From a distance she saw the same sweater being worn by another child, but the child was being carried by a man. Her eyes were filled with tears so her vision was blurry. The small child she saw looked comfortable hugging the neck of the man carrying him. By then the tears were far away.

"I should have carried him," she muttered.

The sound of the speakers began to fill the building. Some visitors stopped to sharpen their hearing. While her gaze began to play tricks on her again, she was forced to continue looking at the little boy who at this moment really looked like Fillo, except that the boy was smiling in the arms of a foreign man wearing a white hat. They seemed to be talking to each other.

In fact they were heading towards her—or perhaps towards the cashier.

"Mom."

"Fillo ...."

Oh. No! Her subconscious must be playing tricks on her again. That voice must be a voice made by her own mind again.

"Mom!"

The child's voice shouted again.

At first she didn't want to pay attention, but then she gasped when her legs were hugged by a pair of small hands, the hug was quite fitting for her legs. When she looked down, that's when she saw a boy who she thought looked like her son.

"Fillo?" Alexa frowned, it took a few seconds before she was finally shocked. "Fillo? Is it really you, sweetheart? Fillo, oh my gosh! Where have you been? Mom is so panicked."

Only then did she believe that her eyes were unmistakable. She cried loudly.

"Fillo. Oh my God. You can't leave Mom. You can't leave again, ok?"

Several kisses immediately invaded Fillo's cheeks and neck; lipstick and tears mixed together stained his small face. Fillo was amused and he laughed as he wriggled away.

The guard finally stopped the announcement on the speaker.

"So, this is Fillo?"

That words stopped her.

In front of her, a person's long legs stood clad in finely pressed khaki cargo pants. The more she looked up, a familiar face greeted her arrogantly.

Ray.
