Chapter 72: Chapter 72
"Cindy? Cindy is that you please say something." Rella was frantic. She could soft breathing on the other end but they're not not saying anything. She gazed up at Christian with tear filled eyes.
"Please talk to me. Tell me where you are." Rella pleaded.
It could only be Cindy on the other end who else would it be? Rella mused.
Why wasn't she saying anything?
It suddenly went dead as the caller cut the call. Rella was stunned.
"Could be a prank call." Christian said.
Rella shook her head. "No it's her. She said my name Christian it's definitely her." Her eyes were shining with tears. "But why wouldn't she talk to me? Why wouldn't she tell me where she is?"
" What are you going to do now? "
" I'm going to see my mom."
" I should go with you. "
" Oh no don't bother. "
" Are you sure?"
She nodded.
Christian escorted her back to the car and made sure she got in before he left for his business.
"Call me when something happens okay." Rella nodded, she couldn't speak.
Her stomach was in knots as soon as the car left the café's parking lot. Her head was pounding furiously and her heart racing. She rubbed her clammy palms against her jeans but that didn't help.
Rella felt like screaming. Everything's falling apart before her eyes and there's nothing she could do about it.
Lucille Carpenter was pacing the room while Jenny sat mutely in the sofa.
" Will you quit your pacing you're making me dizzy." Jenny snapped suddenly. " My God."
Lucille stopped and pivoted around to face her. " Do you know how humiliated I felt, how could you do that to me."
" It's no big deal okay."
Lucille gave a dry laugh. " No big deal? NO BIG DEAL?"
Jenny flinched at her tone.
"You should've told me then I would've prepared. You lied to me all these time." She accused.
"I didn't lie to you, you just assumed Stefan was the father and I let you there's a difference." Jenny rebutted.
Lucille clicked her tongue. "Anyways, who's the father?"
"Jeff." Jenny looked away biting her lips.
"Are you freaking kidding me? Jeff Morse the painter?" Jenny expected this reaction from her cousin. Yes Jeff is just a lowly painter but he's got some good points on him–not that she would ever Lucille that of course–her cousin would flip her lid.
"Please tell me you're joking. You went from Stefan Diamond to that gutter rat?"
"Can we not talk about this please? Let's focus on the matter at hand which is Cindy Diamond… I mean the impostor. "
Jenny knew that was something Lucille would like more than anything.
Lucille pursed her lips. "Yeah you're right." She smiled evily. "That golddigger wouldn't know what hit her.
