Chapter 11: Chapter 11
Arpit's POV
I came home to find my mother a bit restless. She was ready in a silk sari and asked me to take her to her doctor for a regular check-up. She is a heart patient so she is on medicines. Her blood pressure is a major concern for all of us and hence, I can't leave her alone. This is the main reason for me to work in India. I couldn't persuade her to move out of India with me because she wishes to die in her homeland like dad did. She loved dad the most and after his death, her health has deteriorated considerably. Now, she asked me to come back from Australia and stay with her. I want to be with her in her last days.

Sitting in my study, I am almost done with my writing the proposal for the project which is more or less the plan of action, just without the results. I genuinely wish that the outcomes must come positive or I swear the fiery tigress would eat me alive.
I chuckled at my chain of thoughts. Sitting in my study and working on my laptop after finishing my dinner, I reminded myself of the reaction of Niharika today over my long-awaited apology. Today I realized how selfish I was years ago that I shouted over her because I couldn't control my urges giving damn to the impact that has made on her. It seems she has lost the ability to trust and make friends.
My thoughts were interrupted when my phone rang. I was astonished to get a call from a Private Number at this hour of night.
"Hello", I said in a panicking voice.
"Hello...o, Arpit. How are you doing?", said the unknown on the other side.
"Who is the one calling? Do I know you?", I enquired.
"You will know me soon. How's your new job?", the person on the other side smirked.
"Why the hell do you care? Who the f*ck are you?", I spoke in anger.
"Spoil the project and reputation of 'The Exquisite'. I will pay you 50 lakhs." The unknown person spoke.
"Who are you?",I asked again, trembling at the task he had asked me to do.
"Why do you care, buddy? Just do what I say and take your money or I will find other ways. I swear this project won't succeed." The unknown voice said.
"Whoever you are, you are an idiot. I can't betray my profession. So, I give a damn at your threats." I said faking confidence but actually I was afraid to the core. I could sense a storm coming up in my life.
"Save these curses for later. Take care of yourself, your mother, your sister and your little nephew. Your brother-in-law is posted in Arunachal Pradesh. You are the only one here, I see."
I heard the unknown voice and was shell-shocked.
"How could you bring my fami...", I tried speaking up only to realize that the call was disconnected. I was left with tears brimming in my eyes and my concerns of my family's safety in my study because of an unknown maniac who had called to threaten me.
