Chapter 44: Chapter 44
"You don't trust me?" Liam sighed as he heard the accusation in her tone.
"It's not about trust. I just don't want you to get too excited and let the cat out of the bag" Liam said in exasperation.
"You think I am stupid?" Madison asked, offended.
"Of course no. You are simply twisting my words." Liam said in disbelief.
"Liam Fredrick, you think you have grown big enough to lecture your own mother?" Madison Fredrick asked, keeping her hands on her hips.
Liam groaned. What has he got himself into?
"Mom. Listen to me. I know you. And you know yourself better. Right? The boys are overprotective where Mirrie is concerned. And she is not yet ready to tell her brothers about us. And I don't want them to know from anyone else other than me or Mirrie." Liam said patiently.
"Someone else? I am someone else for you now? Michael? Did you hear this? Our son has already become a stranger." Madison said, clutching her heart dramatically earning an eye roll from her husband and son.
"Fine mom! I thought you really loved me. If you want to see me get killed by the twins, then by all means talk as you wish in front of them. Anyway, as you keep reminding me every now and then, you carried me for nine months and gave birth to me. So obviously you get to decide when I die." Liam decided to answer his mother in her own language.
Madison gasped listening to her son.
"What nonsense? When did I say that? You are my darling baby. How can you even think that I would let any harm come to you? If the twins so much as touch a hair on you, I will show them who Madison Fredrick is." Madison said, going all momma bear on him.
"As long as mine and Mirrie's relationship stays a secret, I am safe Mom." Liam said.
"Of course. They will never know from me." Madison vowed.
"Are we the only sane people in this house, dad?" Astha whispers to her father, seeing that her brother has inherited certain crazy antics of their mother.
"Your brother is smart. He knows how to handle your mother" Dhruv said, impressed by his son.
Liam excused himself and climbed the stairs to his bedroom.
He took his phone and dialled Emily's number.
***
Emily was sitting and talking to Zian.
"Zi, Zada is calling you." She looked up and saw Zahir glaring at them
Zian simply nodded and hurried away from them.
"Is he really your brother? How sweet he is. And you? A bad boy" Emily said, rolling her eyes.
"I am your boyfriend," she heard him say.
"Correction. You were. But we had a breakup, because I don't like you." Emily said.
"I also don't like you, you always fight with me for no reason, but I am a man of words," she heard him say and scoffed.
"Man? You are a boy" Emily said, rolling her eyes.
"I am a year older than you," Zahir said.
"Whatever," Emily rolled her eyes.
"So, I am a man of my words and you are my girlfriend," he said.
Emily simply raised her eyebrows at him.
"Now I am going to claim you as mine," he said.
Before she could think of anything else he placed his lips on hers.
Emily woke up startled as she heard her phone ringing.
"What the hell. Uhh. Why do I get these dreams so often? Why the hell can't I just erase it from my memory." Emily groaned sitting up in her bed..
After reaching the apartment, she had lied down for a nap.
And the bloody kiss dream appeared again out of blue again.
Why the hell did she have to mention it in front of the bad boy, today.
And that smug look on his face, when he asked her if she still cherished those memories.
"Cherish, my foot." Emily gumbled to herself.
It's a bloody nightmare.
Her phone rang again, catching her attention. She saw it was an unknown number.
Could it be him?? She thought and her heart rate picked up its pace.
What if it is him?
Emily shook her head to dispel those thoughts.
Why the hell would he call her anyway.
"Yes?" She answered the call
"Emily? Right?" She heard a male voice and tried to figure out who it was.
It's not the bad boy, she acknowledged.
"Yes. Who is this?" Emily asked curiously.
"This is Liam. Liam Fredrick," she heard him say.
"Ah, Liam. Where did you get my number?" She asked with a frown.
"Uh. Zada gave me your number." Liam mumbled softly.
"Ah! Zada."
"My mom has invited some of my friends for dinner tonight. I called to invite you and Emil for the dinner." Liam said cheerily.
Emily leaned back against the headboard of the bed.
"Really? You don't know me. We met only once or twice. Why would you invite me for dinner at your home?" Emily asked cheekily.
"Uh. You guys are new here. I thought it would help you feel welcome." Liam said and Emily laughed at his pathetic excuse.
"Nice try, Fredrick." Emily said.
"Listen. I am just trying to be a good friend. I got to know Emil in the last few days. So I thought I would invite you guys for dinner too." Liam said.
"I know about you and Zada" Emily said.
"What?? How?? Who??" Liam asked in shock.
"You must know that Emma wouldn't be able to keep a secret to save her life. I still haven't figured out how she hasn't spilled the beans in front of the boys. My only inference is that you are damn lucky." Emily said.
"God," Liam groaned.
"Now that we have got it out of the way, why don't you tell me the real reason." Emily asked.
"Okay. You are smarter than I thought," Liam said, impressed.
"Tell me something new." Emily said in an attitude.
"You know what? You are a perfect match for Zahir." Liam said with a laugh.
"Like hell."
"Hey. I meant as enemies. Nothing else." Liam teased.
"Are you going to tell me what you want from me? Or should I just hang up and leave you to your fate?" Emily snapped furiously.
"Okay cool down angry bird. I need your help." Liam said.
"Go on,"
"As you already know, Zahir is very sharp. If I so much as breathe in Mirrie's direction.."
"Wait a second. Who the hell is Mirrie? I thought we were talking about Zada. Damn it. Are you some kind of playboy to get the names too confused." Emily asked furiously.
"Hold your horses. I call Zada as Mirrie. Now can we move on."
"Yeah yeah. Go on."
"As I said, if I so much as look at her, he will come at me with a barrel of questions. I just need you to distract him if things get heated." Liam said.
"You owe me one Fredrick. I will definitely collect it when I need it."
"You have my word." Liam vowed.
