Chapter 137: Chapter 137
"Happy New Year, Happy New Year, wishing everyone a Happy New Year!"
The Spring Festival is almost here, and Serena is very excited.
There’s good news today.
In the morning, Elias told her that they had found Nathan Sawyer’s mother and daughter, and they were safe. It’s just that she didn’t want to return, so Brandon Grayson had already gone to find them.
Serena got up early and started bustling around.
On the morning of New Year’s Eve, Serena got up at six o’clock and asked Nanny Livingston, "Nanny Livingston, have the couplets been put up?"
"Not yet, I’ll put them up in a bit," Nanny Livingston said.
"Then call me when you do, I’ll help put them up," Serena said.
Serena then rushed into the kitchen for a look around to see if there was enough food. She then went to the storage room and took out the candy boxes to fill them with sweets.
She also laid out various snacks, placing them on the coffee table in the living room.
Elias came out from the study, and not seeing his sweetheart around, he found her and took her hand.
"Why are you so busy this early in the morning?"
"Nanny Livingston will take care of it. Go back to the room and rest."
"It’s only fun when you’re busy during New Year. That’s what makes it interesting."
"Then I’ll join you." He would accompany her as long as she enjoyed it.
"Let’s go put up the couplets."
"Let’s call up Ronan Keaton too," Elias suggested.
"No way," Serena quickly replied.
Elias’s face immediately darkened.
"That’s not what I meant," Serena whispered into Elias’s ear, "A few days ago, my brother brought Nia Irving here, and it’s been two days without seeing her come out."
She covered her mouth and laughed after saying that, "Looks like I’ll become an aunt soon."
Seeing her adorable expression, Elias touched her nose gently. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭⚑𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮⚑𝕟𝕖𝕥
Before long, the couplets and red lanterns were all hung up.
The Norris Gardens was adorned in red, and the festive atmosphere immediately came to life.
Serena pulled Elias into the house and started sticking the window decorations.
The elders woke up, watching this little one bustling around, feeling happy, shaking their heads with a smile.
After finishing her tasks, Serena looked at Elias and Ronan behind her.
"You two go keep Grandpa company. I’m going to check the kitchen."
"You take a break. There’s someone taking care of the kitchen; nothing will go wrong." Elias took her hand.
"I’m going to check if the stomach-friendly porridge for Grandpa is ready. I’ll be right back."
"Go slow, don’t tire yourself out."
"I will," Serena said and ran to the kitchen.
Everyone looked at the loving couple, feeling so happy, and smiled with satisfaction.
A moment later, everything in the kitchen was ready.
Everyone gathered around the table. Old Master Keaton looked at the whole family, sighing, "I don’t even remember the last time New Year’s was this lively!"
"Dad, this year is different because we have Serena. From now on, we should all be happy and lively," Ruby Yates said.
"Absolutely," Old Master Keaton nodded with satisfaction.
"I must toast to our in-laws, thanking you for giving us such a wonderful daughter-in-law!"
Old Master Lancaster raised his glass and clinked it with Mr. and Mrs. Keaton.
"Honestly, it’s a shame that this child went through so much. It’s our fault for not being able to protect her," Jasmine felt an ache in her heart.
"Dad, it’s not your fault. I’m doing well now, and we’ve even reunited. It’s a good thing, so let’s not dwell on the unhappy past," Serena knew they felt sorry for her.
"Dad, today we should be happy. My sister is doing so well now, which is most important. Let’s all toast to Mr. Lancaster. From now on, it’s up to you and Auntie to take good care of her," Rufus raised his glass and took a sip.
"Come, everyone, let’s raise a glass together."
The table was bustling with activity, and everyone was joyful.
Elias watched everyone, realizing that his home had never been this lively. But ever since he had his sweetheart, everything felt different.
Deep in his heart, he felt grateful for his love.
Serena looked at her family gathered together, feeling truly happy. Her biggest blessing was having her family and Elias.
This year, she had gained many relatives and two adorable little babies.
Everyone was happy, gathered and united.
In the afternoon, while the elders took their nap, Serena noticed her brother heading upstairs again.
"Brother, how is Nia?" Although Serena didn’t want to ask, knowing he had been bringing food upstairs for days, she hoped Nia would join for the New Year’s Eve dinner.
"She’s still asleep, but will come down for dinner tonight."
"Great," Serena smiled immediately. "Brother, take it easy."
Saying that, she quickly dashed away, heading to the kitchen.
Ronan stood frozen for a moment, then looked upstairs, his lips curving into a smile.
Elias wanted Serena to rest.
But no matter what he said, she wouldn’t listen. So, he accompanied her there.
He learned from her how to make dumplings.
He watched as Serena placed coins inside and was somewhat confused.
"Sweetheart, why are you doing that?"
Listening to Serena explain the tradition behind putting coins in dumplings, Elias was astonished, having never known such a thing.
"My sweetheart knows quite a lot," Elias praised.
"From now on, we’ll always make dumplings for New Year’s."
They sat there, making dumplings and chatting away.
Finally, evening came, and the Spring Festival Gala began.
While the kitchen was preparing the dumplings, Elias and Serena each held a child as everyone gathered in the courtyard to watch the fireworks.
Looking at the fireworks blooming in the sky, Serena silently made a wish.
[May my family be safe and healthy! May we be reunited!]
Tonight, Norris Gardens buzzed with excitement. After eating dumplings, they played until past ten, when the elders were too tired and went to bed.
But Serena was still excited, staying in the living room. Elias stayed with her, the two of them nestled together, watching the gala.
As the clock struck midnight, ringing in the New Year, Serena cupped Elias’s face and gave him a kiss.
"Mua~ Elias, Happy New Year!"
"Happy New Year!" Elias reciprocated, and they both smiled at each other.
Outside, the sound of firecrackers and fireworks filled the air as everyone welcomed the New Year in their own way.
Serena suddenly remembered something and quickly made her way upstairs, "Elias, wait for me here a moment."
When she came down again, "Elias, this is your New Year red envelope."
"I have a red envelope for you too."
Elias said and somehow magically produced a big red box, placing it in front of Serena.
"You’ll have to open it and see."
